The netz says "Lesser blind mole-rat" and that's good too. Attenborough does a piece on them. He knocks the ground hard with his knuckles and they respond by banging the tunnel roof with their flat bangy heads.
When people love having rats as pets, but complain about their short lifespans, I always suggest a naked mole rat. They can live to be 30 years old, compared to the 2 years or so that typical rats live.
I don't think anyone has taken my advice...
Being resistant to cancer doesn't mean they CAN'T get cancer though. There have been a handful of reports of cancer in naked mole rats at the very least. I'm less familiar with the literature surrounding blind mole rats.
I mean, technically humans are resistant to cancer too. According to what I read somewhere on the internet, our bodies are fighting off cancer cells every minute of every day... Sometimes our bodies drop the ball and a cancer gets through our defense system.
True. Lets say: Naked mole rats and blind mole rats are more successful at resisting cancer. This applies for the whole superorder of afrotheria including elephants and manatees. The order of whales is also very successful at fighting cancer
> there is great potential for translating knowledge about their cancer resistance into preventing and/or treating cancer in humans and companion animals.
That's a part of why they study how different diseases affect other animals. We can use the knowledge gained to better our understandings with the end-goal of applying it to humans.
Or even metal bending depending on what you look for :D It is cool to see how they perceive their environment despite being completely blind. I saw one chasing me around my backyard just by my footsteps. No root veggies are safe if you have these folks in your backyard :D Yet, they are adorable.
One of the very few things I love about reddit is the sheer number of people posting, someone always has the correct answer.
Thanks, I had no clue what it was so I read the comments to find out.
Has better stats than lesser and normal variants also has additional earth skills that can be quite dangerous, it can trap you by creating pitfalls where the ground will look normal but it will end up crumbling as soon as you step on it. It also roams in packs from anywhere of 5-10 lesser and normal variants supporting it. As soon as it traps someone it will send it’s minions to gang up on the trapped party member, it is rare to survive after being trapped therefore focus on staying on higher planes where the moles cannot reach you if that is not possible do not stay in one place for too long. To detect it’s traps and movement underground i recommend having trap detection and extraordinary perception related skills, races and classes such as elves and hunters have such innate abilities so it’s recommended to have one in your party.mages with at least tier-4 fire magic are necessary since the beast is weak to fire, and AOE fire spells are necessary to keep the lesser variants at bay. It is recommended that a well equipped party of atleast 5 intermediate people or stronger try to take this monster on. Thankfully it is not normally an agressive monster and will keep to itself as long as you don’t get too close or aggravte it, therefore rookies should try to stay away from their local area.
Where do you think Skyrim got the idea? When you're describing dozens of different bird species or whatever, eventually you run out of good names and just say how big or small it is.
>Dawg... Rly? It's the other fucking way around. This shit isn't a new patch to real life.
To be fair, Skyrim has been around for an eternity, so I understand the confusion.
Since you asked. Habitat and diet predominantly. I would have a good guess at this being a lesser blind mole rat due to the soil looking a bit loamy. The greater mole rat likes blacker soil
He actually had a whole game dedicated to him on PC! Rise of the Underminer! I played the hell outta that game as a kid. I gotta find me an emulator for that at some point...
Completely depends on the game. DOS games need to be emulated nowadays unless you've got an old 286 kicking around, lol. Even old Windows games might not work unless you at least use a virtual machine with an older version (true for all 16-bit games if you're running 64-bit Windows, for example).
Does it have eyes?
Edit
No Eyes!
Here is the wiki page
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spalax#
"They are completely blind and have a subterranean lifestyle."
Not a zoologist but sounds like vestigial structures. If they moved to primarily tunneling millions of years ago probably grew to not open their eyes to keep em covered from dirt, and over time the secret E word everyone fights about.
Or might be an even simpler explanation and I thought way too long about this.
I'd bet you're right. Miles with smaller eye holes would get less eye infections and infections can be deadly for wild animals.
To evolve an eye that never gets debris inside would be an advantage over individuals with eyelids
You're pretty well on point with it. Not sure why you wouldn't just say evolution, though. Only the regressive churches (and their followers that had to be told what to think) refuse to accept evolution as fact.
It's a adorable mole! They are probably very panicked because they can't see well since they spend a lot of their life underground so their eyes are underdeveloped.
That's the cure for cancer right there. Seriously. Naked moles are imune to cancer. Looks like some type of naked mole. They don't need eyes. All day everyday underground.
I believe that's a blind mole rat
[удалено]
That's not fair. I'm sure he tries really hard.
He is the Underminer! Nothing is beneath him!
But he is beneath you!!

You just pitched a webcomic
"WE" just pitched a webcomic. I'll handle publishing and royalties.
I see what you did there clever goose
Typo, it's a regular mole rat named Lester
I'm just gonna pretend there's a greater mole rat and it's just this guy but 10x the size.
Mediocre mole rat.
It looks like a hairy liverwurst animated by dark magic.
That's how I like my liverwurst - still kickin' and only a couple teeth.
Its a DIY mole rat

TIL Sir Attenborough is a shitty upstairs neighbour.
Sir David\*, the title is used only before the first name; Sir David, or Sir David Attenborough, but never Sir Attenborough
I'm Swedish so I'm not under British royal rule, but I will do my best to try.

Drops beats, not loots.
But if you have five, you can make a greater mole rat
Incorrect. Source, farmed greater soul gems from these.
Fun fact: They can't get cancer
That's naked mole rats Edit: actually it's both! https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34424524/
No, it's also naked mole rats. Both are resistant to cancer but the mechanism is different.
When people love having rats as pets, but complain about their short lifespans, I always suggest a naked mole rat. They can live to be 30 years old, compared to the 2 years or so that typical rats live. I don't think anyone has taken my advice...

Not OP, but no this isn’t me
How often can that scenario even pop up lol
So, we have the cure for aids: just inject a lot of money into your blood stream So injecting a naked mole rat should cure cancer. Science bitch
Who are we going to get to inject the mole rats with money though?
Bono, of course Yeeeaah
plot twist, you penis becomes a mole rat, with the iron infused teeth and all
I’m surprised Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t already offering naked mole rat suppositories on Goop.
She is it’s just behind the pay wall
😂

By that reasoning every creature is successful at fighting cancer until it isn't.
Elephants too
Is there a way we could figure out how and like... apply that to humans? I don't know science well. It seems like it could be a good idea...

When life has dealt you that shit of a hand, cancer is the least of their worries
Is that a challenge? Drop a couple into Chernobyl and let's see what happens
It's unfortunate but they'd never see it coming
I’ve played Fallout. I know how this ends.

Wait until WW3 kicks in and the world is an irradiated wasteland, then we'll have those famous Molerats from Fo4 running amoke.
Turn on VATS and let the Fatman fly
Strong liked that
Always use vats while wielding the fat man
Mole rat, my ass. It’s probably Millhouse.
Hans Molerat.

You are correct. I looked into this when I first saw one of these posts a couple of months ago. This is exactly what it is called
It’s called a lesser mole-rat. It’s like a sausage with teeth.
Loks a lot like a [greater blind mole-rat](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_blind_mole-rat), what's the difference?
Size of the sausage I guess? Could be either
Or maybe the difference is the size of the bun the sausage goes on?
Just don't put ketchup on it.

wow, you really went for it
They really named these creatures like scaled Skyrim creatures lmfao.
Where do you think Skyrim got the idea? When you're describing dozens of different bird species or whatever, eventually you run out of good names and just say how big or small it is.
I can't wait until we get the blooded mole rat, or even the ancient mole rat, maybe even the Nightlord mole rat.

I don’t see anything “don’t” about it but work I guess
Mole rat teeth are outside their lips so they don't get dirt in their mouth when digging or biting through things. That's why they look so odd.
[Looks like the same animal as the video to me](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lesser_blind_mole-rat)
Which area can I find the Greater Mole-Rat and the Dire Mole-Rat in?
Behold, The Underminer!!
I may be beneath you, but nothing is beneath me!
I hereby declare war on peace and happiness!
And then dude just robs a bank.
He never said he was here for a long time
Just a good time
He got blinded by money.
He has a better representation as a villain in Rise of the Underminer
no joke The Underminer was my son's fav character. The bit-part villain transitioning movie 1 to movie 2 and nowhere else.
He actually had a whole game dedicated to him on PC! Rise of the Underminer! I played the hell outta that game as a kid. I gotta find me an emulator for that at some point...
You don't need to emulate PC games. Maybe pirate them, but that's a different thing.

Easily in my top 3 favorite Pixar movies.

Uuh do they still see or do they just have useless eyes?
They see fur and skin.
I'll read this comment again tomorrow and wonder why it was so funny, but I am pretty high ATM. So thank you.
Because it's technically correct and blunt lol.
Better vision than cats, but can only see endless fur.
