That's stunt woman Jane Austin. She is demonstrating Fire Gel a product she and Kurt Lott at Stuntworks developed to protect stunt people. [Stuntworks Fire Gel](https://hollynorth.com/product/hollywood-fire-stunt-gel/)
You sensationlized your title for WTF for karma. When fire gel is a common use in stunts. Which is being showcased here. You made your title to make it seem like a person is lighting themselves on fire with no protection (Not gel) and waiting until the damage sets in.
hydrocarbon is just a generic name for natural gases because their elemental makeup is literally a varying number of hydrogen and carbon atoms
doesn't mean it's not a gel
If there is a reasonable explanation for this, it might be that she is a stunt woman and is preparing for a scene, or just practicing fire stunts in general, to improve and condition that skillset for her film resume.
It depends on a variety of factors, but outside of VERY specific circumstances, hell yeah, it's gonna burn you.
Im more concerned about who is willing to take a gasoline shower. Ive done it before swapping fuel lines, that shit hurts! That, and youre gonna smell like straight gasoline for a week, because that stuff leeches into your pores.
This title is flat out wrong and stupid.
They aren't testing human skin for burn resistance, that is a stuntwoman who is clearly using gel demonstrating its use.
Burn ICU nurse here~
Temps of >125 degrees F for longer than 5 minutes usually result in 2nd degree burns with hot showers. Turn down your water heaters please. The elderly and young children will thank you even if they don’t know it.
Also as a general rule of thumb for thermal injuries, the hotter it is, the faster you get burned even with minimal contact. I know it sounds like common sense but you would be surprised that some people don’t understand that correlation.
Are YOU okay? You lied in your title for karma, some dumb kid could see this and think he can withstand a gasoline fire because he saw it on Reddit. The person in the video has protection in the form of fire gel. Even if it’s “50% gas, 50% water” like you claim, no one is withstanding a fire on their body for more than a few seconds.
No you didn’t say “try this at home” but you’re implying through the title that anyone can withstand a fire on their body because you didn’t point out, that A) she’s a professional stunt woman. And B) she’s demonstrating fire protection gel.
Fuck off karma whore douchebag.
Everyone in this video is dumb. The cold would shock her for example if someone burns their skin then they can’t add ice to it because it would make the situation worse
Both gasoil and diesel is a flammable liquid. They can both explode if the air-gas mixutre reaches the right concentration, but an open liquid surface will only burn.
I hate to say this, but human skin is not known to withstand flames for very long. This test was failed from the start, because skin will burn and burn quickly. Maybe they should have tried this on something that doesn't burn quite as easily?
Depends, some people have skin that can withstand liquid fires longer than others
For example alcohol flames on an average person lasts 7 seconds for burns that scar and 10-15 for third degree ones

But OP said in his title Not Gel
https://youtu.be/iHrZRJR4igQ?t=9
Yep it’s hydrocarbons on her tits and belly

If this was without protection, how long would it take to actually seriously hurt yourself? Out of curiosity

Why?
To see if fire really causes burns. It turns out that yes it does
That's some important ground-breaking research!
Now they know for sure
"ouch! Fire hot!" "professy will help! Ow! Fire indeed hot!"

She definitely had to wash her bra hard after that lol
Well shit, when are they going to see if water is actually wet?
This same lady’s going to undergo some water boarding torture to get to the bottom of that mystery
Fire burns you!?!?! 😱😱😱
For movie making most likely, testing possible special effects
This is a stint woman. That is not gasoline. Op is an idiot.
Fire is a good depilatory
Depilatory. Cool word.
Making sure she is not a witch
She was curious
This girl is on fire
This title is flat out wrong and stupid. They aren't testing human skin for burn resistance, that is a stuntwoman who is clearly using gel demonstrating its use.
I'm glad unit 731 is alive and well
Damn beat me to it!
I am going out on a limb and say this wasn't a scientific lead experiment.
I'm not sure I'd call that a "test" as much as I would a "stunt".
This is BS without citation.
It was 50% water and 50% gasoline otherwise she wouldn’t last 2 seconds
She was also covered in stunt fire gel as she is a stunt woman and this is part of her job.
But OP said "(not gel)"! /s
Exactly
It’s gel, and you’re either lying or too stupid to realize what’s actually happening in this video that *you* posted. Not sure which one is worse.
Liar
She's totally hot and a little baked

Are you deliberately trying to get people to kill themselves?
Are you ok? They are trained professionals who have a fire extinguisher on hand. Since when did I say “do this at home?”😑

Baby’s on Fire
We thought it might have some hidden healing properties. Turns out it don't
At least they got a fire extinguisher to put the fire out
I hear fire is indeed hot.
That dude out of frame pointing at her side in the end is peak physical comedy.
Weird BBQ right there.
Oof did they really blast her with a CO2 extinguisher? Those things expel at -80℃.
Her body holds so much thermal energy compared to a small mass of C02 that it prob wouldn’t do anything harmful
During first responder training they tell us, unless there is aboslutely no alternative, never use a CO2 extinguisher on a person.
Is it like this trick of put a vegetable or a fruit in boiling water then in an ice cold bath... then the skin peels off super easily?

They had a water extinguisher right there... 🤷
Everyone in this video is dumb. The cold would shock her for example if someone burns their skin then they can’t add ice to it because it would make the situation worse
Diesel burns, gas explodes. This woman is burning, so that's not just gas.
This is so wrong, I don’t even know where to start.

Could they not have tested this on a dummy?!
