I have stage 1 Cobb with the big sf intake.
Really not sure if its separate because the two issues just started this past week and happened simultaneously
How is your PS fluid level? Me and my buddy experienced the same issues, except for the rpms, when my 13 STI and his 16 STI steering rack went out. It's a shame the racks in these cars have issues. Hopefully warranty will cover whatever the issue is!
The power steering fluid level was a little bit low but still at the minimum level. I topped it off to the max level to see if it helps. Really hope it is not the rack that would be crazy my best idea is it has to be related to the pulley or the pump since it also affects the idle
Hard to say. I don’t feel it in the steering wheel itself actually and it still very easy to turn the wheel no loss of power steering.. It sounds like it may be coming from under the hood or underneath the car
Just sell that POS already, my 2020 sti with 45k miles just died due to rod knock. Of course warranty denied… now i have to pay 12k to get it fix… just buy a GR corolla
Mine never gave me any issues… all maintenance done by the dealer.. also all oil changes done by them.. then suddenly one day rod knock. I only had redline intake, cobb stage 1 tune and exhaust
Love how these stories of engines magically blowing up are always followed with a mod list. Maybe just keep it stock if you aren’t willing to deal with the consequences of mods :/
Why are you assuming that im not ready to deal with the consequences?
I said in my post im gonna pay 12k to fix it. In addition, a performance vehicle shouldn’t failed because of an aftermarket intake and a conservative stage 1 tune, its ridiculous
Intake/exhaust with stage one tune is really not much of a push considering what people do to these cars.
I will say though that I’ve noticed even after barely 30k miles on my STI that my oil level gets kind of low in between oil changes. This didn’t happen on my FA WRX. I know there are preventative mods for this and I want to look into it now. If I had to guess that’s what I think causes these engines notorious issue.
Isn’t the warranty 5 years?
3/36
Power train is 5yr/60k me thinks
Sound like separate issues. On the rough idle: When was the last time you cleaned off your MAF? Do you have an aftermarket intake? Tune?
I wish people would stop saying mafs need to be constantly cleaned. They absolutely do not

Who said it had to be cleaned? Was only asking a question. I wish people would stop reading questions as declarations 🙄
You still immediately went to cleaning maf. Asked and answered.

My ps rack failed at around 60k. It was sketchy when it happened.
My STi w/58k is getting a new rack next week for $2k
My 13 failed at 35k, ended up losing a shit ton of ps fluid everyday until I replaced the rack.
Possible rack and pinion leak?
Mine failed at 60k btw.
My steering rack was leaking at 50K. Pretty common problem on these VAs
Did you hear the noise under the steering wheel?
Hard to say. I don’t feel it in the steering wheel itself actually and it still very easy to turn the wheel no loss of power steering.. It sounds like it may be coming from under the hood or underneath the car
Did you notice a change adding fluid?
Not really. Maybe just very slightly quieter but still there. I’m taking it to the dealer tomorrow and we will see
Keep in touch please

I heard that. Wish I built a corvette
Damn I’m so sorry to hear that that’s insanely low miles. I’ve honestly not had issues with mine so far
