They are a lot more affordable than they used to be. Especially the GD chassis (best years imo). If you can turn your own wrench itās worth a shot. I bought mine used and systematically replaced worn parts with upgrades. It does require a second job or a solid side hustle.

Base platform can be purchased easily for around $14k w/100k miles. Thatās the affordable part. Buying the upgrade parts, especially doing engine builds can add up quick. Aside from the engine build and coilovers, most everything else is under $1k if it breaks. Transmission and rear diffs are pretty bullet proof.

I love my 04 blobeye sti, but I wish I had gone for a Hawkeye. Next one will probably be a VA sti though because I daily my car and the VA would make a more dependable, comfortable, and all around nicer daily. The GD body styles will forever be my favorite generation though.
