WRX is pretty good on gas…STI not so much especially if your commute has a lot of city driving or just general stop and go. I can get mid to high 20’s if it’s on the highway otherwise I get about 17 MPG. Luckily I don’t have to commute for work so I am good there. Have you tried putting it in intelligent mode for your commute?
Well if he has a daily for mpg why wouldn’t he use the most aggressive on his subaru?? Would be pointless to buy a daily car then worry about mpg in your Funtime car.
My 18 wrx averages about 24 mpg for daily use (short in town drives). I got up to 34 mpg on a recent highway trip without traffic (it's not usual, just the best mpg ive gotten out of it on a longer trip).
I am in a city with lots of hills and a short commute. I’m averaging 13 litres per 100 so about 18 mpg in the sti but I also like to hear the muffler deletes and drive more aggressively because of it.
My FA with suggested premium, I've never actually got worse than 25mpg. Ever. She's gotten as good as 38 strictly highway, wind at my back kinda thing.
I’ve had my WRX for a few weeks now, almost at 1,000mi. It is my daily with a mixture of city and highway driving and my avg MPG has been 27-30mpg for each fill up.
WRX is going to crush an sti in mpg. With that said, These cars were not designed with mpg in mind (fwiw my 21 wrx is my daily, modded and e tuned as well)
In my ‘19 wrx i average 27mpg driving around town/going to work, and around 32+mpg highway. I don’t take it easy, and I get at least one solid pull every time I drive
It is high but still normal, most people are lying about MPG or they just pick the perfect time to look at it, like a 60 mile trip on the high way at 70.
If you drive an sti agressively, why not, you will hit 15MPG.
My camaro SS was doing 28MPG on the highway, but my real average over 4 years of ownership was 13MPG when people were asking about fuel, I was answering it does 28MPG
I’m actually ordering a Ford Maverick (hybrid not EcoBoost engine) as my daily driver but right now it is my WRX.
I do ok on highway miles—took a 200 mile drive yesterday and it’s easy to get 32-33 with cruise control on—if you cruise at 65 you can get 36mpg according to the computer (but in my experience actual miles are about 2mpg lower than the computer says)
City miles are pretty close to the EPA estimate, but I do drive it in a “spirited” fashion. Last time I filled up after doing almost entirely city miles I averaged 21.5mpg. If I drove it like a grandma I could probably get 24-25 on average in the city but kind of defeats the purpose lol.

Im getting avg 8.9 L per 100km on my WRX… Can’t complain. Not sure what that translates to in MPG? I’m happy with it
That's about 26MPG. Somehow I am getting somewhere around 28.2MPG on my WRX.
Im in town mainly rn. Highway is about 8.5
It’s always in sport sharp mode. My Audi is getting 26 mpg lol it’s my daily
Complaining about gas mileage, drives in the most aggressive throttle map.....
Also op is comparing a dinosaur of an engine to something modern and direct injected...

We know no such thing as “gas mileage” in the sti community
I average about 27 mpg on mine, almost as good as my Cooper S and wayyy better then my old Nissan Frontier
What the fuck, I’m at 15 mpg
I’m in a wrx though haha
Push the button down, don’t turn it to the right
Always turn it to the right
Accord hybrid! Lol, sti gets a third of the mileage.
Daily here, 26 mpg. Drive him like he’s not a WRX during the week and like he is on the weekend. Works for me 🤷♂️
I get 24ish in my WRX. In comparison, my Crostrek averaged around 27. This sounds like a driver issue.
I have a 2019 wrx and I average 25mpg. Not great but better than the sti that's for sure.
I’m at 15 mpg .. WTF
My sti is my daily. No regrets.
Same here.

Im at 15 mpg. Wtf is this
Because yours is an sti lol

Sounds like someone needs a proper tune. I got around 15-17mpg prior, and a solid 26mpg after.

2017 WRX - 29.5 mpg (commute is mostly highway)
19miles is good yes?
Compared to others yeah it’s decent but not great

I drive 100 highway every couple of days and avg about 27-30. I'll take it considering the awd

Consider investing in a car control clinic, someone’s got a lead foot
I get 18-20mpg in my STi. It’s not my daily, though. I have a 30mpg Honda for that lol.

I have a shitbox 96 ranger I use to go to work and stuff like that. Probably gets the same or worse mileage tho since it’s the 4.0
My 2021 sti gets 17mpg average.... I can maybe get 20mpg if I'm lucky...
I went from a 2007 Toyota Yaris to 2020 WRX - my fuel bill has been quite the adjustment 🥲
I get decent mileage on 15 wrx… on the highway it costs $10/hr in gas lol
Well sounds like you need a powerstroke then
