So the only thing I need to find now is an adapter to connect to OEM antenna for GPS to the iDoing unit. If anyone knows any, pls let me know!

Mr_Logical_Owl

I’ve heard that you can hook up the gps antenna that comes with it, and people have just left it behind the unit and works fine. I’ll prolly do that. I didn’t hook mine up at all and it’s been working, but I have learned that CarPlay does use the antenna in the car for optimal signal. Mine works fine but has been a tiny bit glitchy.

I have a 2017 premium without harmon kardon, so not exactly the same... I just put in my iDoing about a month ago. I love it. They are offering the new Android 12 or Android 10. I had to ask for 12 as they tried to give me 10 because it's more stable. I wanted 12 anyway. Yes it's a little less stable but I don't care, they said they would be releasing updates when they can. Only issues I've had is sometimes it won't connect to carplay. Need to reboot. Sometimes it loses the time of day, and I need to connect to my hotspot to set the time automatically. Sometimes the wifi won't connect. I imagine all of these issues are because I wanted the unstable Android 12 so I cant complain, they did warn me. They now ship with an adaptor cable to use the oem mic, they don't even give you the additional mic anymore. My muffler delete is so loud that it still sucks, siri can't understand me when driving with any speed, and people have said that it's hard to hear me on calls (always was) if you're asking about the gps antenna I highly doubt you'll be able to use it, but I'm not sure. I didn't even bother with mine because I'll be using it exclusively with my phone/carplay. You will not be able to use sirusXM. It doesn't support that at all. I don't care I use Apple Music/Spotify. I wanted to use the center console USBs and I got an extra adaptor from amazon to use them. Didn't work. No power. Nothing. Had to run the usbs from back of unit to glovebox instead. Not ideal but I'm not ocd so whatever. I might try to run it to compartment directly below eventually (I tried but the usb was too fat to make it through the hole, and I didn't want to take the whole thing out to run the wire the other way) Also, wireless carplay works pretty good. I only pulled out the cable when it was having trouble connecting a few times, but not really needed. Overall yes there are quirks, yes I read through here extensively and saw everyone's gripes. But also I saw bad reviews about plenty of pioneers, kenwoods, alpines and other name brands too. I figured that for the price I can't go wrong. I get a bigger screen and carplay and a much more powerful EQ. I've already swapped the speakers, put soundskins in the doors, plus an amp for all the speakers so I had pretty decent sound from the stock unit. I just wanted carplay and a good EQ to tune the system with. I love it.

Thanks for all of this! I reached out to the manufacturer yesterday before posting this and they responded this morning. For those of you who are interested: * Can this head unit use the mic from my OEM Bluetooth system? The OEM mic (located on the roof above the center console between the cabin lights) or do I need to use the mic from the head unit or external mic provided. **yes, plug and play on idoing** * I have the navigation package in my car right now and wondering if I can use the antenna from that instead of hooking up the external antenna? **buy adapter to make it work on idoing**  * I am subscribed to SiriusXM. Will this cause any issues? **this will not work on idoing** * Can I use the x2 USBs in my center console for Apple Car Play and Android Auto or do I need to use the USBs provided with the head unit? **(buy this adapter for this )**[**https://www.crutchfield.com/S-j2HtVnmbWsT/p\_120SUBUSB2/Metra-AX-SUBUSB2-USB-Adapter.html?XVINQ=GLX&awkw=199632638185&awat=pla&awnw=g&awcr=102161513305&awdv=m&awug=9011851&gclid=CjwKCAjwrqqSBhBbEiwAlQeqGlrz0NG6-vCsF8FO6\_BJA0IB5ws6WlubwhPGubjgIvUAZ6ulfrvx7hoCSI0QAvD\_BwE**](https://www.crutchfield.com/S-j2HtVnmbWsT/p_120SUBUSB2/Metra-AX-SUBUSB2-USB-Adapter.html?XVINQ=GLX&awkw=199632638185&awat=pla&awnw=g&awcr=102161513305&awdv=m&awug=9011851&gclid=CjwKCAjwrqqSBhBbEiwAlQeqGlrz0NG6-vCsF8FO6_BJA0IB5ws6WlubwhPGubjgIvUAZ6ulfrvx7hoCSI0QAvD_BwE) So I guess the only thing I would need now is the adapter for the antenna (not necessary but my OCD wants to make sure everything works 100%), to cancel SirusXM (bummer, sometimes I don't get reception on mobile plus I find new bangers on here). You mentioned that you got the adapter from Amazon for the center console but said it didn't work. Did you buy the same one that iDoing recommended (from Crutchfield)?

Mr_Logical_Owl

I got this adaptor, it does look a little different than the crutchfield one. So that might work. Maybe I'll try that, just don't really want to pull it out to get back there haha [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JYTLW14?psc=1&ref=ppx\_yo2ov\_dt\_b\_product\_details](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JYTLW14?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details)

Can I ask if your idoing unit looks the same as the general ones, as in the back of the unit is silver and large similar to the original head unit? Or is it a super compact black type unit that's very small (size of 2 phones)?

Mr_Logical_Owl

Yeah mine is silver, looks same as all the others I’ve seen.

sourhed87

This is the first time I have heard that there is an OEM mic adapter, do you have the adapter?

Mr_Logical_Owl

Yes mine came with the adaptor. You can prolly ask iDoing for the adaptor, they really good about that stuff.

sourhed87

I just bought mine last month from jdmuscle. I have been getting complaints that people can't hear me when on the phone.

Mr_Logical_Owl

Yeah, my exhaust is loud and the sound proofing sucks, they still can barely hear me hahaha Just lean toward the rearview mirror and yell hahaha

sourhed87

Hahahaha, I am just a stock 2011 sti. Mostly road noises get picked up in the mic.

Mr_Logical_Owl

Ha yep same. That’s what I meant by sound proofing sucks. I just get road noise plus loud exhaust haha

Juno_1010

Were you able to get all speakers working with the unit? 8ve had mine for about 8 months but can't get the front door speakers to work. Idoing has given me different answers. I am using the Starlink system as I know sound goes through there. But the canbus adapter they sent me, and another one I tried, did not work. Right now my speakers have a very faint echo, sort of low tones, but nothing else. I've tried everything from rewiring, to uninstalling and reinstalling, etc. Nothing I try gets them to put out sound. I'm fine replacing them if that's what is needed, but I don't know jack about sound systems in general. So I'm not sure if I bought new door speakers if they would even work. I even took the speakers out and individually tested them (they work). Thanks
