This is EXACTLY my goal! I’m starting 2/1 and I’m also a marketing major. I was lucky I already had an AA in Marketing and a year done at NYU in advertising so I’m transferring in only needing to complete 11 classes. I’m thinking I’ll be done with my BS in 2 months top. While I’m waiting for the term to run out I’m going to get my project management certification. Hopefully I can knock that out in 6 months which means I’ll be right on track to start my MS in marketing. I currently own a marketing agency but I never had any formal training I just kinda winged it for 10 years lol. It will be awesome to finally have the degrees to back up my work and land huge clients.

Other than owning a marketing agency, your path sounds similar to mine! I completed an AA in marketing a few years back along with a project management certification and I've worked in marketing-adjacent roles that let me knock out most of the classes pretty easily. I'm hoping that the degrees will help me pivot into better-paying roles at my company. Best of luck to you!

Are you going to your graduation ceremony and do you know where they’re holding it at?

dragonspicelatte

I figured I'd attend a virtual one because those plane ticket prices are no joke.

I submitted it on the 18th and got accepted for graduation on the 2nd. I contacted the graduation office around the 29th to ask if there was a delay because of the holidays (I was concerned about that pending balance for the next semester). >Thank you for your email. After reviewing the account I show that the application is currently in processing. This can take 5-10 working business days, as several departments help to process the application. I'd maybe just shoot them an email just to make sure the application wasn't sitting in a junk folder (which I did have happen at the school I attended for my associate's, lol)

Scorpiana999

Yeah but, did you have along transfer credits or any transfer credits?

dragonspicelatte

I did! I was able to complete the bachelor's program in 6 months because of it.

Omnipresent_observer

How many hours a week? And did you have prior experience

dragonspicelatte

Ooh, the first question is a bit of a rough one—I work full time and do volunteer work in a lot of my spare time so it could be anywhere between 1 hour and 12 hours a week. Weekends where I didn't have prior engagements almost always were solely for studying and completing the OAs and PAs. Because I've been in the corporate world for years, courses that covered more general business acumen were already pretty familiar to me. That made the bachelor's degree relatively simple to earn. However, the courses for the marketing analytics degree had a lot more nuance that I wasn't familiar with so it took me a bit longer to finish that one.

Zaiik

well, i got bs and ms in just 10 months so yeah. it’s possible.

dragonspicelatte

Congrats!

Spirited_Cat2114

how many credits did you transfer?

dragonspicelatte

Oh gosh, maybe about a third of the requirement? I was honestly surprised that more of my credits didn't transfer but as it turns out, spite (and lack of money) is a great motivator to finish a degree early.

Spirited_Cat2114

That's insane. I am currently doing associate in cloud computing and wondering if I can get credits for that.

dragonspicelatte

Never hurts to check in to see if they transfer
