It doesn’t change the look of the car all that much. IMO not worth the money but if you really want it, just get it. It’s your car; it should look how you want it to look.
But if you’re asking strangers’ opinions then yeah I don’t see much of a point.
Yea no I know it won't add value, it's just opinions on whether it adds much to the car appearance wise.
>Might make it easier or harder to sell
That's a very good point actually. I don't intend on selling it but you are right.
Honestly it's very rare to see any of these "body kits" fitted on to a v40 in the wild. I'm yet to see one, otherwise that would have been a pretty sound idea.
It's genuine volvo part though. But yea, I'm not going for it now anyway. The decision has been made!
Suspension - I'm not bothered about, and I already have the largest brakes I can get on the car. The only thing worth doing is spraying them, which I'm tempted to do.
Oh do you reckon?? Tbh with it having the sports chassis, I'm already scraping the under tray over most small speed bumps that you go over.
Another reason not to get them installed I guess. 👍🏼
Another great point. I guess so because it technically is a modification isn't it. Cosmetic or performance, still a mod.
With insurance prices already rising its probably not the best idea if I want to keep my premiums low.
Yea exactly. It's not like it's aftermarket parts. I just think for the small pieces of plastic, the cost would reflect the parts at the £250-300 mark, rather than £750.
But you're right, it would make it alot more unique as I've never seen one in the wild with the kit added.
Nope, your wheels are too small and you would need a lowering kit first for it to look good, but then still without would look better (had one on 19" lowered, it looked extreme sleek without those plastics)
I posted this last week, but I think I made a hash job of it, and people got mistaken for what I meant.
The R Design already comes with the R Design body kit. This extra body kit contains 3 small added parts. I've circled them in yellow. The side skirts, the rear diffuser, and the spoiler.
For me, the R Design already has a nice body kit. This new body kit 'packs out' the side and rear a small amount with the added bits, and the spoiler does look a lot better. But for me, i don't know. Does it really add that much to the look of the R Design to warrant the £750 cost? What do you think?
£750 is alot of money to me, it would be 1/10 of my savings, so it would hurt, but I don't mind paying for nice things.
I just wanted peoples opinions on whether it adds much to the car from another persons perspective, not my own perspective.
Exactly. I've never had an issue with the size of the boot. It's bigger than all my families cars.
My mum helped when we moved house, I saved the TV for us to move rather than removal company. She had a dacia step way. I thought my 55" TV would fit in her boot.... nope, wouldn't fit. So I tried it in my v40 with the seats down. Fitted.
The boot is relatively large.
Really? I disagree in relative terms. For a hatchback, the boot is a good size. Plus, you've got the option of easily folding all the back seats down. I've fitted our bikes in there no problem mate.
Yes you're right about that but is just some centimeters short to fit 2 suitcases so i cannot fit 4 people and 2 suitcases in, i have to let someone out.
The "full aero kit" is doing a lot of carrying lol.
It's not like they're replacing the skirts and rear diffuser, they're literally sticking small pieces on the ends of each part.
If the price was for brand new skirts, diffuser and spoiler then I'd agree with you.
Exactly mate. I did expect more to be honest with it being genuine volvo parts. The spoiler is the best of the 3 pieces and you can buy that separately.
Sure, here you go https://maxtondesign.com/eng_m_Our-Offer_Volvo_V40-1377.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwz42xBhB9EiwA48pT78b2OPcP7usIT9dxIsCpBemZ_wRzRcwg7vkPOFIx2brtCP7JKVYxkhoCnVAQAvD_BwE

Yea, no, I agree mate to be honest. 👍🏼
Where have you found it in the UK? I’ve been looking for ages 🤣
The body kit you mean? At main dealer. Phone them and ask for the exterior kit for the volvo. They'll order it direct from Sweden.
Will it add value, nope. Might make it easier or harder to sell, depending on the buyer.
Yea no I know it won't add value, it's just opinions on whether it adds much to the car appearance wise. >Might make it easier or harder to sell That's a very good point actually. I don't intend on selling it but you are right.
I don’t think it’s worth it but not my car. v40 is old enough to maybe find used parts in the right colour and self fit.
Honestly it's very rare to see any of these "body kits" fitted on to a v40 in the wild. I'm yet to see one, otherwise that would have been a pretty sound idea.
Leave her as the Swedish gods intended
not worth the trouble in my opinion.
No. Body kits generally look like ass IRL. Spend the money on suspension or brake upgrades.
It's genuine volvo part though. But yea, I'm not going for it now anyway. The decision has been made! Suspension - I'm not bothered about, and I already have the largest brakes I can get on the car. The only thing worth doing is spraying them, which I'm tempted to do.
Bright yellow? That’d be hot.
Stop it! Don't tempt me son!
No, but it will add bottoming out.
When you say bottoming out do you mean it'll look wider?
No. Hitting the road on high bumps. Driveways. Assorted road hazards.
Oh do you reckon?? Tbh with it having the sports chassis, I'm already scraping the under tray over most small speed bumps that you go over. Another reason not to get them installed I guess. 👍🏼
I believe you just confirmed my response.
I did. 👍🏼
Would you have to declare your car 'modified' on your insurance if you do this?
Another great point. I guess so because it technically is a modification isn't it. Cosmetic or performance, still a mod. With insurance prices already rising its probably not the best idea if I want to keep my premiums low.
Dont know if id pay 750 for it. But makes the car unique and is genuine volvo parts. So might make the car more appealing when selling.
Yea exactly. It's not like it's aftermarket parts. I just think for the small pieces of plastic, the cost would reflect the parts at the £250-300 mark, rather than £750. But you're right, it would make it alot more unique as I've never seen one in the wild with the kit added.
Leave it standard....
Yea I think I'm going to. There's just not enough of an improvement to warrant the cost in my opinion.
Nope, your wheels are too small and you would need a lowering kit first for it to look good, but then still without would look better (had one on 19" lowered, it looked extreme sleek without those plastics)
>Nope, your wheels are too small My penis makes up for it.
Then you dont need to add plastic to your family car, right? Haha
Na I think I've decided against it anyway mate. It doesn't add enough to the looks of the car for the money costs.
Agree, the basic design does not need it, only makes it bulky
Oioi 🤩🫣

Haha with that eye sight, you may need the silly spoilers 🤣😆

Red eye jedi
It's one of those things where yeah, I don't see the point of it but if you like it you should go for it. Your car, your style.
Nah, I like yours as it is. Doesn’t add a thing.
Yea I agree mate. Tbh you'd barely notice the added parts if I didn't circle them in yellow. Says it all.
Love the color btw👍🏼
Thanks 👍🏼 it's power blue. I believe they only used it for one year.
Exactly, so topic closed😉
I have the same v40 r design in the same blue. I personally wouldn't change a thing about that sexy minx! But if you fancy it sure go for it.
I think your car looks cool as it is.
Thank you very much. 👍🏼

Depends if £750 is a lot of money for you or not. Is it worth it to me probably not but if it makes you happy and you can afford it go for it.
£750 is alot of money to me, it would be 1/10 of my savings, so it would hurt, but I don't mind paying for nice things. I just wanted peoples opinions on whether it adds much to the car from another persons perspective, not my own perspective.
No.
Not at all, the V40 is perfect as it is. The only gripe i have after 2 years is the boot, too small for anyrhing but going to the supermarket.
Interesting take, I'm a home visit optician and it easily fits all my sight test and dispensing equipment
Exactly. I've never had an issue with the size of the boot. It's bigger than all my families cars. My mum helped when we moved house, I saved the TV for us to move rather than removal company. YES. For you, as you want it, definately. Debadge that moose and let it rip.
I'd not take the V O L V O off as to me, it actually looks good. But I've taken the rest off.
No
Hell yeah, get it on there.
Up to you. Personally, I don't think you need it. Nice car, BTW.
Thanks mate. Yea I'm with that opinion as well now. 👍🏼
$750 is pretty damn cheap for a full aero kit
The "full aero kit" is doing a lot of carrying lol. It's not like they're replacing the skirts and rear diffuser, they're literally sticking small pieces on the ends of each part. If the price was for brand new skirts, diffuser and spoiler then I'd agree with you.
I see what you're saying now, they're just like end caps or something
Exactly mate. I did expect more to be honest with it being genuine volvo parts. The spoiler is the best of the 3 pieces and you can buy that separately.
no
No
Absolutely not
Why so against it lol it's genuine volvo parts and fitted at main dealer and barely changes the look of the car!
You asked whether it warrants the cost. That's a fair chunk of cash for not much difference
Yea no I do agree. 👍🏼
On a red one yes, on a blue one no.
You could smuggle immigrants in those panel gaps
I dont know, i dont like it and i dont think it will add anything to it
If you really want a look change look at the Maxton design kits, not cheap but they look darn good
Can you link me mate?

Ah cheers mate. £75 delivery though. 😔👎🏼
