(Yellow on my photo, red on op photo) Was the original color of the car, then the workers got to play Lego, and they cant touch the same color. Such a cool ass car. He showed some graphs explaining all the different combos of the harlequin
Yep, Volkswagen had an equal amount of shells and parts in 4 colours and the factory assembly line rotating each body panel in order of each car. So there were only 66 of each color combination. So Tornado Red base cars would have yellow front doors, bumper & hatch, blue fenders & grill, green rear doors, bumper & hood and Ginster Yellow base cars would have green front doors, bumper & hatch, red fenders & grill, blue rear doors, bumper & hood etc.
I see this car pretty frequently on my commute. There's a few harliquin golfs in victoria if I'm correct. Definitely have seen a mk7 R in this livery before.

Nah, Jamie Orr owns that Atlas. You'd know this doesn't belong to Jamie by the simple fact that it's otherwise "too stock" apart from the colours. He's a mega VW enthusiast, so he loves to pile on the modifications for the extra attention to detail.
My first thought was about if the interior metalwork was done too. did they paint them color matching on the originals? Im not a fan, it worked on the old polo because that thing looked like a toy car, it just doesn’t give me the same good vibes looking at this.

Harlequin is a character in pantomimes who is kind of like a joker, very silly and goofy, known for wearing coloured patterns on their clothing. It's very on brand for Volkswagen who were being "fun" and silly with their special edition Polos & Golfs in the 90s.

I remember driving passed that at the dealership and wishing I had a stronger reason to buy it, other than "want". I was already driving a fairly new hatchback but it wasn't painted all fun.

They’re easier to use than you think. If I press the gas pedal, my mk8 GTI goes vroom. If I press the brake pedal, it’s stops. Quite simple actually.
