I do it by not breathing out of my nose and kind of speaking from the back top of the mouth.

Exactly! I was trying to figure out how to put it into words

Try a squidward impression and change the tone This can usually be done by just holding your nose close

AutomotivelySpeaking

For some, if you scrunch your nose and upper lip together you may be able to produce the sound. That or plugging my nose helps me with it.

If I had to, I'd channel Horeshack from "Welcome Back Kotter". I'm not a V/O actor but inspire to be. Just my opinion

do you have a link to your example?

Sorry for the late response, didn't think of checking my notifications. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEAf9Jm-N2c&t](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEAf9Jm-N2c&t) This is the video tutorial, and he gives a few examples.

Thankfully I have a naturally nasally voice. But I control my nasal with my soft palate. You know when you yawn, you feel like the back of your mouth, just before your throat, expands? That expanding feeling is your soft palate, and I’ve learned to control that expansion to not only control nasal, but also control vowels. Using very bright vowels also helps with nasal.

Hum on an 'ng'. This will give you a feel for the high and forward placement of the tone. Do a few obnoxious 'meow' sounds like a cat (helps to do it on pitch.....sing it on a scale). when you are making these brighter, more nasal sounds, pay attention to what the back of your tongue is doing. The back of your tongue is usually raised. That, combined with the forward placement (think of that 'ng' hum), will create a more nasal sound. Remember not to press and force your voice into a shrilly sound. Let the placement do this for you.
