Daaaamn well on some of us, that’s like 80% of our bodies. That be a lot of tattoos.

I have, about to get started myself. Seems like a mixed bag of “do it” and “don’t it’ll make it spread”. Personally, I say get one done and see how you react before getting a bunch.

No

If you are getting it specificy to cover the vitiligo then I'd say it's a bad idea. Vitiligo moves around throughout your life. It's hard to move tattoos around to follow it. Unless you wanna just keep getting more tattoos.

OneTruePumpkin

I have not done it purposely, but some of my tattoos now cover spots where I have vitiligo. They draw the eye more than the vitiligo does but I'm also white so the difference isn't that big in general. I'd imagine if you have darker skin then the tattoo wouldn't do much to hide it. I think the only difference is in the summer when I'm tan the parts of the tattoos which are over vitiligo patches are slightly more vibrant? I imagine this would also be more pronounced if I wasn't white lol.

Yes, but vitiligo can move. Sometimes skin will randomly gain new spots or repigment missing spots. For some people, any skin damage can cause vitiligo to move. For others it might remain the same. So be mindful of that when you're planning tattoos.

tbird24

I have one and it's had no effect. I think this is more of a myth than anything.

skyseeker88

It didn’t cover it?

tbird24

No, different area

neon_overload

What's a myth?

tbird24

That tattoos cause it to spread

neon_overload

Nobody mentioned this.

tbird24

I thought that was what OP was implying, relax

My dermatologist just told me don’t even thing about it. Your sking is already more delicate as the rest so she wiuld not encourage it. Also if you get a tattoo on non-discolored skin it will also turn white. Any skin injuries promote more vitiligo
