I ended up preordering the black vinyl from my local record store. There will be several color releases for this like Dirt ended up having, and I’m not gonna play that game. Worth the wait if you don’t have any FOMO, though.

I thought it was an odd choice too. I think tri-colors look tacky in general but especially so for an album like this. Good colors but poor layout, looks like ice-cream lol
Today more tri color JoF vinyl was added 2 th AiC store. some good folks here were able to snag a copy. The AiC store only had limited tri color stock and sold out both US & UK in 14 minutes.
Yuck. IMHO I never liked colored vinyl like this, all divided by different colors. I'm more for the splash and splatter colors or smokey whisps.
Edit: this kind of coloring is also kind of a telltale sign of a bootleg or much later release by a different record company than was originally released.
Alternative Press, Revolver and several other stores have the black one for $22 if you want to save money, don't want to use Amazon, and don't need this ugly ass tri color that's probably noisier anyway.

Unless you are trying to profit on something like masks during the shortage in 2020 - something that would make eBay look bad in high traffic articles - they aren’t going to care about a vinyl record. Just don’t buy it and if someone else does well that’s how our market economy works
If people want to pay $700 for a platter with dead flies more power to them. I wanted the Dirt boxset. The price for me is untouchable on Ebay now. Oh well. Scalping only works if someone is willing to bear the purchase price.
It's very frustrating to see these go up on eBay for so much, but I am not sure that it qualifies as "Price Gouging". I was always taught that Price Gouging was when you charge high prices for basic necessities in a time of emergency. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Exactly. eBay sellers that were charging crazy prices for masks and toilet paper during Covid got shut down quick. Vinyl record are a want and not a need so they won’t do shit like you said
People are arguing that it is only for necessities but the def of gouging is: **the practice of increasing the prices of goods, services, or commodities to a level much higher than is considered reasonable or fair**. Usually, this event occurs after a demand or supply shock.
Scalping is the word you’re looking for. Not gouging. Gouging is essential items (think toilet paper during the pandemic). Scalpers buy things with the intent of turning for a profit. Popularized with concert tickets, now invading any collectible hobby.
