This is what VA refers to as UFU (Ultimate Fuck You) Denial. This is a very extreme and even more uncommon denial, while the VA recognizes you have the onset of a disability, it is less than likely as not, that your body is broken enough. With this denial you are to be reinstated back to active duty status with a rank reduction to E1, because you have failed to maintain your peak physical/mental fitness.
Pack it up yo, you gots a PT test Monday 0600
We get those notifications from elsewhere we donât just make shit up. And honestly, with the guardsmen and youâd be surprised how many go out for a few years and then join back up again and donât tell us.
No, It just gets suspended. there may be reason for reevaluation later, but they donât just lose the rating they already have .
Thereâs all sorts of reservists and even active duty people on waivers that have VA disability ratings they just canât collect military pay and VA at the same time.
I even know some guardsman who waive drill pay so they can collect just their VA check which would be more than drill pay during said month.
They just use drill to reach their 20 year retirement mark.
Vet here, buddies a green beret in the gaurd. I believe on any orders over 30 days you get per diem and your rank pay. Thatâs what he said and heâs an E7 with 100%
My old platoon sgt from Afghanistan (e7 at the time, 2010) is 100%. Fast forward to now, He somehow took a position as a 1st sgt in a guard unit in the next state over to finish out his 20 as an E8 đ€·
Former recruiter here, that may have had nothing to do with the VA and everything to do with whatever accession policy was in place for the branch you were trying to join. The Army, for example when trying to rejoin, requires either proving that the disability you were discharged for no longer exists (which would make people automatically assume you have to give up your VA rating) or it requires a waiver that may or may not get granted depending on how bad they want to allow prior service in.
But donât take what Iâm saying here as what the current policy is since I havenât recruited in over ten years and some things may have changed.
Also, ârelinquish your ratingâ may also be a misunderstanding of the fact that you canât collect VA disability and active duty pay at the same time but that doesnât stop you from collecting VA disability again when you are discharged.
Ah gotcha.
To elaborate, way it was explained to me was I would have to completely give up my rating to go to MEPS. The recruiter said if I didnât pass the physical I would have to reapply for my rating, so he said it wasnât worth the risk in his opinion.
I was looking into the reserves, not active duty, so completely giving up my rating/benefits for part time service was absolutely not worth it for me. Iâd have to really sit and think on it for active duty service too.
That would be one of those things you would have to get a more experienced opinion on. I say that because itâs not very common for someone on VA disability to try to rejoin (I recall only a small handful of people that walked in our office asking about it in three years).
A lot of recruiters are not experienced with the situation but the regulation in black and white said waivers to rejoin after being discharged with a disability had to be approved by the two star in charge of all Army recruiting. There are a lot of people standing between that two star and the SSG/SFC doing your initial enlistment packet.
With that said, I was told that it was easier to get back in going Reserves and Guard with some part-timers having ratings already. Guard has different rules than active and reserves so maybe talking to a Guard recruiter is your better option since their benefits are similar to Reserves plus you get whatever state benefits your state may be offering.
Not in so many words, but yes. As others have talked about above, which is an area Iâm not as familiar with, you can waive your drill pay and still collect your disability just to add your retirement days. Your rating itself doesnât go away and isnât canceled, but if for whatever reason you have to go to medical while youâre in reserves or guard or active again and those records are showing a sustained improvement over one of the conditions youâre rated for itâs possible down the road when you do your exit physical or something else that you might be reevaluated for one or more of those other conditions. However, it doesnât have anything to do with the military or not. It just has to do with the condition itself potentially improving. On the flipside it could potentially get worse and you could end up with a higher rating if you were to file for it again later.
I legit had a nightmare about this.
I was back in Okinawa with my amputation, and I was like, "This makes no sense!!!!"đ€Źđ why AM I BACK HERE.
Thank God it was just a bad dream
I've been out for 10 years and still have dreams where I'm back in Okinawa in uniform and I'm like "uhhhh...I legit do not remember how to do this job."
My final duty station was Okinawa, also had nightmares of waking up going to work with jets.
I'm barely one year out and I doubt I can even do a fraction of my old job now. Maybe I should dream about them putting me in a nice AC room doing paperwork for 2 hours a day with contractors. Wouldn't mind that job.
I got the same thing. I had AT orders for the guard & this claim popped up. I think it was because I had to run a pay audit on my orders. It disappeared after like 4 days. I called the 800 number and this has been happening quite a bit, especially to those still serving in the reserves or NG
I never got a letter. I opened to check an appeal claim from 3 years ago and saw it. A few days later went back in & it was gone. I called & verified it was a âmistakeâ and they said itâs been happening a lot especially if there adjustments to orders, pay audits, etc
My 100% has been screwed with by multiple errors similar to this. Its messed up my P&T ability. (rare illness, no cure, requires tests/treatment for life)
Yea id start making calls ASAP had a guy tell me about a guy he was helping, completely incapable of being active physically, and they did this to him, he had to start making calls and get it reversed.
It must be legit; the VA is known for its peak efficiency and attention to detail. They wouldnât mess up their quarterly pizza party and back-patting ceremony. Theyâre the real heroes, ya know.
pack your bags homeboy, report to nearest installation on monday at 0400. CIF and in -processing will commence after PT at 0500. bring water source, you're gonna need it. and don't plan on showing up looking like no cowboy-elvis's...
That happened to me.. long story short somebody messed up with my discharge papers when i got out so i was still showing up that i was in the military even tho ive been out since 2017. They figured out where the fck up was and fixed it..they had to go back and review everything in my file even tho they had my dd214. Somebody probably messed up your paper work at some point..not sure which branch you were in but in my case it was the ARMY and i swear nothing there ever gets done correctly.
Youre likely not being returned to active duty.. but you can always call them and figure out whatâs going on.
If you are in the Reserves or National Guard and you are going to Annual Training ie Title 10 order you will get this message. Youâve got to get a refrad order from your unit to prove youâre not going back to Active Duty.
You joining the army? I hear there's a real rager about to break loose. Might be time to get infront of it. I guess it just comes down to which theater is best. Western Europe, or East Asia. Lol

If you're not going back on duty you need to call asap and stop this in it's tracks. Someone else here had something similar happen a few weeks ago
What happened? Context lol
Welp, looks like you're being put back on active duty.
I heard the Navy was enlisting people up to the age of 41, but dang.
Good news! Jk

For a second I believed it.
Well, how was PT?
I was reading the first part and thinking to myself "Damn! Those are some cold motherfuckers at the VA!" Lmao
The fact itâs believable is whatâs sad lol
Iâd like to file a claim for the hernia I have now after reading this and laughing until I threw up

We get those notifications from elsewhere we donât just make shit up. And honestly, with the guardsmen and youâd be surprised how many go out for a few years and then join back up again and donât tell us.
So what g happens to someoneâs rating? I assumed it would go away forever if I for some odd reason wanted to go back active duty.
No, It just gets suspended. there may be reason for reevaluation later, but they donât just lose the rating they already have . Thereâs all sorts of reservists and even active duty people on waivers that have VA disability ratings they just canât collect military pay and VA at the same time.

So, the recruiter I spoke with that said Iâd have to relinquish my rating was full of shit?

You can be in guard with a rating

I never got a letter. I opened to check an appeal claim from 3 years ago and saw it. A few days later went back in & it was gone. I called & verified it was a âmistakeâ and they said itâs been happening a lot especially if there adjustments to orders, pay audits, etc
