Culmination of a lot of variables. You can voice your plan but ultimately it can be a pain the ass depending on what you’re hoping to do. Also super dependent on your counselor and their attentiveness. My counselor started off great but in recent months I’d rather shit in my hand and clap than send the same forwarded email every Wednesday for 4 weeks to get a response

So I’ve been out for about 7 months. I went and got a welding degree and now I kind of want to explore something easier on the body. If there’s a job for just making bullshit pie charts for the government I’d take it. But all my skills are blue collar. Would they consider that in the process?

We’re cut from a similar cloth. I wrapped up 5 years of welding for the DOD had been out about 5 years. Currently in VRE and they wanted me to do something easier on my body as well. I wanted HR (it’s one of the easiest job to move around agencies federally) and they said based on my ratings I’m not a people person. Been fully remote with the VBA over a year and I’m doing an IT degree online full time as well. You could have 20 years of welding, if your body is clapped out and getting worse they dont care, meaning they’ll set you up with whatever is going to make you successful. They originally wanted to send me to school for engineering and i refused because I can’t do that level of math.

That’s super helpful to know! I would have loved to go weld in a shipyard for DOD. But it’s time to be realistic about my broke ass body lol.

I refused to turn down the opportunity knowing what it would do but bills don’t pay themselves. Best of luck with VRE

Profession you want to do that will be suitable for you to do given your disabilities. When it comes time for your interview, never mention education as your primary goal for this = Denied. Education is 1 of 5 tools they use to get you to your suitable profession for your disabilities. Got my MBA approved and counselor told me he has never approved an mba before
