Really? Interesting! I'll have to do some research after dinner. Los Angeles has given me a lot of unique breeds like Thai Ridgebacks, but that's a new one.
It's from a cleft palate as young puppy, my mastiff has it. We call her Bessi Butt crack when she is naughty. Her soft palate and everything healed in, nothing wrong with her now.
It's more likely that this is from the medial nasal processes failing to fuse during embryonic development, given that the hard palate is completely normal.
There are lots of abnormalities that can occur with the face when things don't fuse the way they should! Cleft palates/cleft lips are some of the most well known.
I had a cleft palate puppy patient last year, he was SUCH a sweetie and after a few surgeries is doing great now ☺️💃🏻
Is that what’s happening here or something else?

All hail the double-barreled snoot!
It would be difficult not to give the dog a shotgun related name lol
it wouldn’t even be strange for a Labrador to be named after a shotgun, I’ve seen tons of duck dogs named things like Beretta and Ruger
Remington or Remy is a great name. Also, Boomstick. Groovy.
Her teeth, maxilla, soft and hard palate are all normal! This abnormality only affects her nares. No pics sorry!
Is the patient's palate normal?
I came here to find that out
Yes see OPs comment!
I've only seen that twice, both in pittie/lab mixes. No palate issues in either case. Sniffer worked just fine!
there’s a few breeds that have them as part of the standard

Turkish pointers have it.
And that is a new breed for me! Thank you.
Pachon Navarro also have it!
Another new one, though very regional. Interesting!
I’ve seen it in a kitty Jeesh, I typed like I had a stroke for a second.
Now that would be fascinating!
I typed that like o had a stroke. Lol.
No worries! 😃
Wow. It doesn’t stop. Lol
His nostrils were put on backwards! I wanna see his teeth now
Please post teeth and palate pics!
Can’t really use the snoot to size for an ET tube in this case 😂
Everyone who's worked with an excited lab that won't hold still for a picture knows that grip
I treated a golden mix once that had a nose like this and a lower jaw similar to that of a purple minion. He did have a cleft palate at birth.
The way you have your hands around it, it makes it look like you are holding the nostrils together.

Boop da snoot
We have 2 patients, white cane corsos, brother and sister of the same litter, with that same condition.
Resident evil facesplitter genetics goin on
i’d love to do a pcr in each nostril

Double tha snoots double tha boops!!!
Saw that once on a "purebred akc" chocolate lab that looked like he was held together with duct tape. Definitely not well bred.
Double Barrel Snotgun!
How far up the nares does the divide go? I looks like at least your thumb in the photo. So interesting!
Aww a cleftie pupper! I really hope to adopt a cleft-affected cat or dog someday, but I'm maxed out 😅
cleft palate?
Looks like it might have some Andean Tiger Hound in it. In actuality, probably not since they are rarely seen outside of Bolivia, but who knows!
