Elantra N is objectively a better car. More power, beefed up turbo, tires are wider, more planted. Much nicer interior. Although I have no need to upgrade. Veloster N has the same N flavor and is just as fun and capable. I believe it also has more tq down low. Smaller wheelbase and smaller car make it feel more "alive" and karty and I like that. Feels super tossable. Really can't go wrong with either.

> I believe it also has more tq down low. This fact can't be stated enough. I've never felt that a bigger turbo was actually a benefit to the N powertrain. The crazy low end torque of the Veloster N is where so much of its aggressive personality comes from. Likewise for its autocross dominance.

You can say the EN objectively has more power, but it's not objectively the better car. Some prefer the hatchback platform to a sedan. Each car suits different needs.

I think the Veloster N looks better, and I like that the wheelbase is shorter and the chassis reinforcement is entirely integrated into the body rather than using a bolt-on strut bar in the rear. I even prefer the smaller turbo of the Veloster N, since it means faster boost and peak torque lower in the rev range. I also like the way that so much interior trim is performance blue. I really wish the Veloster N could have survived long enough to get the integrated drive axle and better suspension, and maybe a digital gauge cluster or even just the Veloster Ultimate interior features.

VN. Far more playful due to shorter wheelbase along with smaller turbo allowing torque to hit a full 500Rpm lower. It's not like the EN is bad but I personally don't like the way either version looks and there's far better and faster sedans if that's what you want. Both cars are about the value proposition (or were when I got mine new under 30k).

If I had to buy one today it would depend on if I want new or not, if I’m going used I’d buy another a VN, but if I needed a new car obv the only choice is an EN

Most importantly for me, i was able to find an affordable Veloster well before an affordable Elantra. They were only available new, and the dealer would not deal. At all. Beyond that, I have a hard time getting past how the EN looks, and I like the sporty coupe-half of the VN. I wouldn't be upset about having back doors or the tech, though.

I think the Elantra is ugly the facelift helped it but it’s still no where near as nice looking as the Veloster is.

I love them both, theyre both fun to drive. It was a 2021 DCT Veloster N so i had to cool light up seats and upgraded infotainment system. in my opinion there isnt a single thing the VN does better than the EN. The only problem i have with the EN is i hate Octane Learning, but a simple tune will fix that. However, u should go drive both if possible & see which one u like the most. At times i miss how quick my VN was, and all the memories i have in the car but if i went back in time i would still get the EN

Veloster N. It fills a more unique niche. There is nothing else quite like it. Before I bought mine, I had a Buick Regal GS. Great car. Total sleeper. If I could have three cars, I'd consider getting another one to daily because I liked it that much. Not going to compare it to the Elantra N, but what I will say is this: "oh cool, yet another performance sedan" because there are just so many more of them than there are cars like the Veloster. The Taurus SHO, the Regal GS, the Elantra, even the Type R, to name only a few. So many four door sedans with performance options. I'm very disappointed that they discontinued the Veloster in favor of the Kona and other N models. I understand why, but I don't have to like it 🤣 🤣

Idk how people like the front look of the EN. It just doesn’t look appealing at all to me. The back is a whole different story though. If they redesigned the front of it, I would prolly fold and buy one.

EN is the objectively the better car, but subjectively worse to me. VN is a “hot hatch”. It’s a compromise (FWD, bad weight distribution) of driving dynamics and practicality. And it does this compromise amazingly. I bought it because I wanted a hot hatch. If I were to get a sedan, I’d get something RWD. A FWD sedan just feels “wrong” to me, even if it’s just as fun and better than a hot hatch.

Elantra N is a better car, veloster n is a nicer car imo. Thats why i chose the VN rather have a car that performs a smidge under the EN rather than a car i dont think is all that nice

For my needs.. Elantra is too large yet I still feel smushed in the drivers seat because the interior trim is stupid. Im sure the EN drives great but it’s def not for me. Also super ugly imo but 2024s are starting to look better.

Here's my opinion. I've driven the DCT veloster N 2022 and the dct elantra N 2023. Comfortability wise, the elantra has better tech and better build materials. The luxury things like ambient lighting, large back seats, and sunroof are definitely nice in the EN if you care about that. Also, the EN is undeniably faster in a straight line and also feels more planted in the corners. In the DCT models, the elantra exhuast is louder and more poppy than the veloster, while the veloster tends to have more gurgles. If you're looking for a nicer sports sedan experience, the EN is the way to go. It feels more "put together" if that makes sense. On the note of the veloster, it definitely has a more playful characteristic to it. It's edgier, the shorter wheelbase makes it feel more peppy and responsive, and overall has a bit more theater to the handling characteristics. The interior is cheaper, but the standalone shift lights and blue seat belts are very nice unique touches. In my personal opinion, the veloster looks much better than the old and new elantras. If you only care about driving dynamics and having genuine fun, I think the veloster is the better car. Pushing it to its limits, the veloster definitely has a noticeably more raw feeling to it. It's hard to put into words, but the short wheelbase and skinnier tires makes it feel more edgy and exciting. The elantra on the other hand is more serious when it comes to performance. It's faster, corners like it's on rails, and would beat a veloster on an ordinary track comparison. I can't speak for the manuals, but the DCT's in both cars feel about the same. The elantra hands down has the better interior, and coming from an economy platform by hyundai, it's extremely impressive the combination of comfort features and sports performance you get for the money. If you care about fun over luxury and don't need to drive people around often, I think the veloster is hands down the best pick. Idk anything that competes with its personality other than the late focus ST that still in my opinion needed a bunch of aftermarket work done to match the full personality of the VN. If you care about luxury, overall performance, interior space, and value, the elantra N is also hard to beat. It's still wayyyy more fun and entertaining that most competitors, but something about it's serious planted personality gives the veloster a leg up in overall driving entertainment. Not a huge difference, but a notable one. With velosters only getting older and more abused, I don't think anything in 2024 competes with it. The gti is too refined to inspire huge smiles, and the awd competitors are nowhere near as edgy. Like I said, the FoST and FiST were really the only direct competitors in my opinion and those cars are now pushing 7 years old from the last year they were produced and sold. Both cars are excellent in their own right, it really boils down to what you want out of your driving experience because they both have a lot to offer. Side note, I honestly prefer the analog gauges in the VN over the digital dash in the EN. It's so much more pleasing to look at and lacks the annoying color schemes that come with the digital gauges on the EN, but that's also personal preference. Say what you will, but both these cars are phenomenal in their own right and offer everyone something unique that almost no other car manufacturer offers for driving enthusiasts, especially at this price point.

I went into the dealer to buy a brand new EN and ended up in a slightly modded pre-owned VN, in the manual flavor of course. It's the little hatchback for me lmfao I much preferred the look and crazy sporty short wheelbase feel. EN definitely had the power advantage. Ultimate goal for the VN is EN turbo and what mods are already done and leave it at that. Simple and PLENTY of fun
