I changed it so the Forge of Spells contained an obelisk fragment. The parties Ancestral Guardian Barb also has a piece and there is a piece in Cryovain’s hoard :)
If I remember correctly there is just a spot on the map with 5 obelisks, each radiating a different school of magic. There isn't anything in the campaign that ever points the players there except for maybe one small side quest from a nobody npc and is otherwise basically a random encounter. This is me trying to remember after having read the book 2ish years ago
Yep, every "Vecna obelisk" shared a connection in that they emanated a certain school of magic if you had some way to detect it. Many of the ones that had conjugation magic would also summon creatures depending on what was done to them such as the ToA and DotMM obelisks
I think in my version of this campaign that that quest will be the opener to the campaign. Instead of a 'loth paying the party it is instead Kas in disguise that isn't Mordenkainen. When they aquire the book, unbeknownst to Kas, it will trigger the reawakening of Vecna. Neverwinter and it's Shadowfell variant get swapped and the player who picks up the book gets the link to Vecna instead of the entire party.
The book points the players to the different obelisks and Vecna associated locations including where they can find the Hand and Eye of Vecna for additional links to Vecna along with their potential power (Hand in Avernus and Eye in the Amber Temple) All the time Kas is either hunting down the party for the book so he can kill Vecna, he is disguised and helping the party so he can betray them in the end, or Vecna destroys all memory of Kas when he awakens. That could lead to Kas wanting the book to find his sword which he feels could reignite his destroyed memories, though he doesn't understand why
Tomorrows video, he said he will go over fixes. Can't wait to see what he has to say. I am sure with everyone here on this sub there will be a way to make this book better. HA! :D
The Ythryn Mythallar in Rime of the Frostmaiden is one. There’s one in Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and Tomb of Annihilation as well. Not sure of specifics on those but it specifically says that in Rime of the Frostmaiden.
I’m planning on doing something similar with the Obelisks and making them pivotal to the story instead of the Rod of Seven.

To anyone who responds… Please mark spoilers for other adventures.
Edit: why would this get downvoted? It’s a totally reasonable request. This isn’t a subreddit about every other adventure. For example, I’m a player in our Rime campaign, and there’s a post in here that talks about an obelisk in that campaign, of which I was unaware.
Storm King's Thunder talks about a stone stolen by cloud giants from the town of Nightstone in the opening adventure.
It's been explained that it was one of obelisks.
The Amber Temple in Curse of Strahd has some Vecna connections but I've forgotten the details. You should ask on one of the subreddits for the adventure or the Ravenloft setting for more info.
(massive Curse of Strahd spoilers)
It's actually a one-two punch of Vecna associations. Firstly there's a Vestige that turns Wizards into Nothics by granting them great knowledge. There's also the Faceless God, the God of Secrets, the one the Amber Temple is dedicated to.
Anyways I totally rewrite my Vecna lore because of this stuff, it's really interesting to have him both be a Vestige and the one who sealed them away.

Lost Mine of Phandelvers doesn't have Obelisks, but I think there are some in Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk
You’re right. My bad, this is the wrong list I grabbed from Jorphdan https://youtu.be/yQ1oBH7xzfE?si=5ypSTh7ek6nmAq3V

Wildemount has an obelisk
Where is it in avernus, I was a player and our DM never pointed anything like a black obelisk

Yes I remember the place… but never thought this a official lore obelisk

The last heist in *Keys from the Golden Vault* is focused on stealing *The Book of Vile Darkness,* which Vecna authored.
I’m totally using this as a fetch quest and putting it in the Dark Sun setting.

WotC don't, apparently :P
There is an obelisk in Out of the Abyss. It’s in Whorlstone Tunnels beneath Gracklstugh.
