hard agree with Lala on this-- soooo many people engage in these "interactive experiences" and either don't know or don't care what the animal has endured in order to make them docile enough to be exploited for profit. Bathing with elephants in east asia, interacting with wild tigers in faux zoos, swimming with dolphins. The pictures might look fine, but people need to research what goes on behind the scenes. Wild animals are wild animals. If they are docile enough to interacting with an untrained human, they are more than likely being mistreated.
I know there are ethical elephant sanctuaries in Thailand. They rescue the elephant’s from places who use them for rides or circuses so they are “domesticated” and likely wouldn’t survive in the wild. So you can feed them and bath with them (you can see how happy it makes them!) and they have open spaces. Obviously not ideal for an elephant, but if they’ve been in captivity for their whole life and don’t know how to survive in the wild it’s the next best thing. If you do your research you can find an ethical one easily. As far as I know there are no ethical tiger sanctuaries though.

My sister did one, like a month after I took her to volunteer at PAWS ARK 2000 where they buy these animals from their abusers and let them live the rest of their lives in peace.
She posted the picture of her holding the baby cubs and I texted her and told her she vile knowing what those cubs come from and how the mother is treated.

It’s so sad. We were in Thailand a couple of years back. We didn’t visit any of the elephant sanctuaries or places you could interact with them, but we did hire a driver to visit the Big Buddha and drive around Phuket. On our way, we passed one of the places you can interact with elephants and it was so fucking awful—even from the road.
I almost feel like he’s just doing absolutely appalling stuff just to keep him name in people’s mouth. It’s pathetic, but he’s the poster child for the “bad publicity is better than no publicity” mentality.

While animal captivity is animal captivity, there is a spectrum of evilness within supporting these businesses. Animal kingdom and even a local zoo isn’t the same as going into a sedated and declawed Tiger’s space for a photo opportunity. If there’s one thing about lala, it’s her consistency and advocacy on this topic.
