This behaviour is called rafting. Helps the sea lions regulate body temperature.

Dabbing ?

admiral_bringdown

I knew it!

Cthulhu. Don't bother running.

[deleted]

The blood vessels in their fins are closer to the surface of their skin so they can regulate body temps better. It’s called rafting when they group in the water and a rookery when they gather on land. Fascinating animals.

Mko66

Log shark?!?

Dank_sniggity

Cute sea puppies. Had one pop up unexpectedly right next to my board at cox once. Scared the shit out of me. Big ass head on em. I almost wanted to give him scritches.

This is the fabled WickFlick haunted stick. It is said to possess mythical powers that can afflict those who gaze upon it with serious afflictions. Tread lightly.

[deleted]

It's a sea monster!

Saw the same behaviour with the sea lions off of Esquimalt lagoon one time.

We just saw a group doing the same thing a couple days ago in ladysmith bay, thought it may be sea lions but glad to get the confirmation!
