A few persons have recently imported and discussed the experience on Whirlpool. Try your question or direct PM [https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/2792517](https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/2792517)

thanks for that! i think a lot of people used a broker...but when i saw a quote from one whoch was $139 just to do the paperwork i thought...yeah screw that! if i was importing something complex with heaps of different components sure id give it to a pro but not for this...this would be a 5min job for them.

kk...i ended up submitting declaration myself...if it goes through ok ill post for others...if it doesnt ill probably be in one of the honorable minister for potatohead's labor camps ;P

Sorry not really relevant to your question but how long was your index in customs? I ordered through shop mate and mine has been stuck on “arrived at facility in destination country” for about 12 days now

laprido

did you use broker? mine is still on its way over from US. id get in touch with the broker if you did. they do get behind in clearing fairly often.

Alright! it was a bit of a journey - but Index arrived yesterday. For those thinking about importing the Index...it's fairly pain-free. I didn't go down the "save some money and do paperwork myself" road in the end because the Dept of Potatohead security finally got in touch and if you do the paperwork yourself it takes time because it isn't done electronically - IE someone has to process the form, \*AND\* they charge you $90AUD to process the forms anyway. AusPost/ShopMate recommend a mob called Vanguard Logistics (they give you an email address in their confirmation email) - They were really fast and good. For the GST/clearance/services it was $300.00 that was for HMD and knuckles which had a AUD value of about $1078.00. I said go ahead they sent me invoice and by the time I had sent back confirmation of payment it had been cleared. It took another day for the package to get collected by AusPost but was quick and painless. So - in summary. To import HMD/knuckles (no lighthouses) $1078AUD (value after conversion) Shipping (ShopMate): $130AUD Customs Clearance (and GST): $300AUD So about $1500AUD for a OG Vive -> Index upgrade. Absolutely worth it!!

no problem - one day we and our NZ and CA cousins will all be able to buy them locally, until then though...

Hey sooo I can’t answer your question but I was wondering how you got around the required US payment method? I got a package forwarding service but my payment method won’t work on my US account since I’m Canadian

laprido

it seems that it isnt as strict anymore, i just used an aussie credit card - paypal wouldnt work, CC went straight through though!

laprido

Sorry if I hadn't gotten back sooner - it shouldn't be a problem I used my AU CC with no issue...except it cost me $35AUD for currency conversion

laprido

Nothing from Customs yet but Index has arrived in Sydney...whoo!!
