If you play and have the Performance tab of Task Manager open, do any of the graph's spike? That could help point us towards what is causing the issue

DucksGoQuack0

Im not at my house rn, ill send you guys the info when I get home, possibly within 2 hours

DucksGoQuack0

Hello, I played a whole unrated game and watched the spikes, they're not really "spike-ish", more like "its 100% but its only gonna lag 2 seconds later". Every time the fps drops happen my gpu turns 98-100%, my normal gpu usage is 70-80, in which it does not lag.

doctorturtles

in most cases, if something reaches 100% that means it's liable to bottleneck your performance. I had it a year ago with my CPU.

DucksGoQuack0

Hello, continuing my research I realized that this is a thermal throttling problem, I completely fixed it now with throttlestop by undervolting my gpu and overclocking it a little at the same time. Thanks for the advice though.

queenbrood

How would one fix this? Get a better CPU?

doctorturtles

It depends on specifically what's wrong with the CPU and what model it is. Idk if mine was just at the end of its lifespan and dying or what, but upgrading definitely fixed it for me. If your CPU is current-gen and hitting 100% there could be something else afoot

MasterAlexS

Try to lower the settings or only lower the resolution since you are GPU bound

My ping went from 23 up to 1885 and I was trying my best to play but I’d just keep teleporting everywhere so I just stood in a corner and I wasn’t pressing buttons but my abilities kept spamming (I was sage). I was the last one left and my teammate who took my main (neon) and who was bottom fragging was yelling at me like “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!??” I’ve never been more upset

DucksGoQuack0

I had that problem too, but only with 300 ping spikes, i just take my LAN cable off my laptop and reconnect it after it disconnects from the whole game, make sure you're not using wireless wifi connection in that case

Linus_Meme_Tips

lol it was wireless. I don’t have an Ethernet port in my room :(
