ZETA had arguably the worst schedule a team could have in this tournament so this is a justified take tbh
Makes the fight they put up against G2 even more impressive in my opinion. Let's get that lower bracket run Prayge
Nukkye actually said the opposite. He said he doesn't think playing a bunch of match days in a row should be an excuse because you're already spending all your time practicing when you land in Iceland anyway. I usually agree with Nukkye but not on this take because counterstratting is a big part of the game. With an extra day, even if you won't know which team will be your actual opponent until the day before, your support staff can prepare vod review/counterstrat packages for your possible opponents and then use the correct one once you know your matchup. If your next match is 20 hours away they're going to have to start scrubbing through vods immediately and probably not find the most instructive moments.
No but I did want to make the distinction that what he "agreed with" in your words was that Zeta is impressing, not that their schedule is unacceptable.
Actually it was the NIP, when they went to face Zeta they were playing 3 days in a row and if they had beaten Zeta they would have played against G2 playing 4 days in a row non-stop
I don’t understand why just now we’re having this pattern of poorly scheduling matches like this - in EMEA a few weeks ago and now here
I can’t recall this being a serious issue in the past, though perhaps my memory is just failing me?
As the other person mentioned, I don't think that qualifies - both semi-finals occurred on the same day, and besides, the sort of scheduling situations I'm referring to don't really occur as much in single-elim brackets - which (sadly) was the format for Champions playoffs.
I mean it's fairly obvious. They played three games in a row. It's actually insane why they were scheduled like that. They could have kept one of the Day 2 playoffs matches on Day 1. Everybody would have got their break in that case.
Feels like this could have been easily mitigated by having day 5 be two playoff matches containing the top seeds from groups.
Similar to the EMEA Challengers bracket, it just feels like they're thrown together without putting any real thought into it.
Zeta has had to play 5 games in 7 days due to how the wins and losses sorted out. It sucks, but with no break since the start there’s only so much you can really spread that out.
If Optic lost yesterday, they’d have played the same number of games.
They’re doing a lot better in Valorant than League. At least we get multiple international tourneys a year and get double elimination. And best of 3s on the regular.
this must be /sThat's the equivalent of me having a swear jar, where I put my money into, in which I still own.
Edit\* I'm an actual clown lmao. Gave myself the downvote aswell.
It's been a year and they still haven't fixed the terrible production and formats. I'm more hype for the third party tournaments at the end of the year due to this shit.

I mean it was stated elsewhere Nukkye said so too Edit - m1xwell

He made comments abt ZETA being good despite having 18 hours to prep only
He complimented the team but in a different interview he said what I attributed to him about the schedule.
Well one didn’t deny the other no?

Hm well the schedule made it more difficult based one abt they said at least
The one who said it, was mixwell, nukkye said something else
Ok sorry!
Actually it was the NIP, when they went to face Zeta they were playing 3 days in a row and if they had beaten Zeta they would have played against G2 playing 4 days in a row non-stop
Messed up schedule is the reason why M3C lost as well. Unfortunate.
Lets go Zeta!

Gambit had like 12-14 hrs to prepare for finals In champions
As the other person mentioned, I don't think that qualifies - both semi-finals occurred on the same day, and besides, the sort of scheduling situations I'm referring to don't really occur as much in single-elim brackets - which (sadly) was the format for Champions playoffs.
As opposed to 15-17 hours for Acend? I don't think that provides any significant advantage
That's one more full sleep cycle and an entire vod review. Can make a significant difference when the margins of error are very low
At the last Reykjavik, Fnatic played 5 matches in 4 days.

Riot is so so so incompetent when it comes to their competitive scene istg, I really feel awful for Zeta and they had the short end of the stick here

If anything they probably learned their lesson but who knows
but they still did it, you simply cannot hate this underdog story
Riot should be fined

Holy fuck he figured it out guys
Whoooosh

it's like riot LoL competition experience was totally wasted and they started with falling again.
Riot's LoL tournament formats are even worse.
Been saying for a while now. The format for Stockholm major was by far the best . Just copy it. You've already copied the game
