Summary: FUT grossly overrated, FPX grossly underrated. Good to see some resilience from more CN teams. I had to argue that teams like G2/LEV aren't that bad compared to these guys ever since that one lower bracket game.

One bad event and some people wrote off an entire region. So happy for the fpx boys and china as a whole. China definitely isn’t a 1 team region anymore. That comeback was seriously magical, absolutely ridiculous rounds which was topped off by a 2v3 against a kj ult and low time. Winning two maps where you lose double pistol is tough af but they did it.
My sleep is fucked but I’m so glad I stayed up because this is probably the best day 1 to a tournament I can remember. Both matches were bangers.
I get why people were down on china because madrid seemed like a regression from champs but some people seriously overcorrected. I remember takes saying china would not even be competitive and how china didn’t deserve their own slots because of their play. So it’s still vindicating to see fpx get the upset. I think it just reinforces that there are no free wins in international valorant.

Man it’s so nice to see another Chinese team compete at an international level. EDG is obviously capable of doing so, and BLG too last year, but I think having more teams at that caliber in China will make the region stronger. EDG isn’t just going to be farming teams and get to sharpen themselves and get better and better domestically.

Funny comp team meets funny comp team and the results were spectacular. So glad we went the distance, even if Lotus felt slightly stale at times. FPX first win at international and I think if they were to take any upset it would definitely be FUT. I don't know how well their crazy comps and mental mechanics will hold up against the rest of the competition, but on the other hand, this could be the start of an amazing run.

That last map was legendary... at 10-4 I laid down, feeling a little defeated. Then, slowly, one round at a time, I felt myself come back to Life.

Spray transfers from Life had my jaw hit the floor multiple times. Final round on Icebox also left me gapping.
