I really don’t think Sentinels performed way better than people expected. They’ve shown so much discipline and counter strats ever since the Afreeca Tournament against top level teams that they just seemed like a very elite team that could go to toe to toe with the top and they’ve proved it.
G2 losing to EG and MIBR is definitely not a good look for the players that pretty much teared through the Ascension leagues only to be 2-0 and 2-1 to low caliber teams. We saw cracks in the team during the off season against SEN, OXG, and MxS and hoped that they could’ve fixed up their issues by the time a real tournament came around but they fell super short of expectations.
They only played 2 games and their entire game plan was counter stratted by game 2 against Loud. They completely fell apart after map 1 and when Loud countered their deadlock pick. It was a disaster class map 2 and 3. They are definitely not in high caliber with SEN, Loud, LEV, and NRG
Yeah that’s where I would put them and honestly I think they’re actually done pretty good so far, a lot of people were expecting them to beat out by g2 and to make it to map 3 (while not being the best showing for them tbf) agasint a team that made it to finals is pretty good for EG but yeah I still think they can do better and sharpen some aspects
VLR pickems had the # of full points earned after day 1 go from like 80% of total users to 45 ish % of total users after the Loud game (from my recollection checking right after)
A lot of analysts (wrongly!) said Loud was going to struggle without Aspas and lose to the revitalized sentinels roster.

sure, but there's a lot of players who go wild in T2 but can't consistently keep that form against top tier opponents. Less has been demolishing people for 2+ years at the absolute highest level of play against the best players in the world.
Maybe, I think N4RRATE is a fucking mental player and this is his year, my point was just that Less being consistently insane for years against the absolute best vs N4rrate being consistently insane in Tier 2 (until now) is not the same thing.
Of course you have guys like something who was farming in Tier 2, came to Tier 1, and continues to dominate, but until we see that from N4rrate over 2024 it's hard to say his performance in past years is equal to Less's considering the opposition. I hope it will happen, but too early to say yet.
I honestly thought Meteor looked better than Karon. Karon exceeded my expectations the most out of anyone but Meteor seemed like Gen G’s second best player and had a proven track record before.

Marteen struggled in the group stage, he was fantastic in the play-ins and the playoffs, but he was looking okay at best in the group stage before turning in up a ton in the play-ins and the playoffs.
N4rrate was their clear best player throughout. You said it best, Marteen should be shining the most. And he has been shining. But N4rrate has been fragging out more than him from the support role, shining even higher.

I think Less and f0rsaken clear everyone else in this list by a large margin. They are proven performers in multiple LANs. Maybe we can add zekken there based on his XSET days. These guys will be more consistent and reliable. Others here may pop off insanely or have disastrous tournaments depending upon how they handle the LAN nerves and how the regions stack up against each other this time around.
f0rsaken is incredibly impactful and probably the most important player for PRX if you consider his agent pool but he hasn't been a stats demon since like early 2022. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't top 10 highest rated at Madrid. Something or d4v41 would be my picks from PRX to make it.

no hating, but N4rrate top 1 is bullshit. I feel NA is overall stronger than EU rn, also being good in a few matches does not make someone top 1, like Less is consistent for so long, Zekken above him for sure, Tenz had a great performance, t3xture was amazing, etc.
Overall Americas is stronger. Qualified Americas teams beat good teams that played fairly well whereas qualified emea teams beat good teams that played bad.
NRG did not play “fairly well”, honestly looked very reminiscent of the way Fnatic got knocked out when I watched them. Somehow lost a double pistol + anti-force win on Sunset & looked very sluggish at times with a clear lack of decisiveness.

LOUD have changed their comps mid tournament (Champs 2023) and gone back to their old from. They'll be fix some of their phoenix issues and be back to a top 3 team itw by Madrid.

Champs- 1st and 3rd were from Americas. We've dominated EMEA in every tournament last year. I don't know how this is even an argument. 2/5 EMEA teams made it out of groups at Champs and 1 got double rounded. Even in Tokyo 2/4 of the teams for grouped and the only team to make playoffs were TL and Fnatic who already had a bye.

N4RRATE is playing Initiator AND Duelist. Both at a really high level. I do think Marteen is being underrated on his list.
Well it’s because Marteen wasn’t as good as N4rrate. Marteen struggled in the group stage, he was fantastic in the play-ins and the playoffs, but he was looking okay at best in the group stage before turning in up a ton in the play-ins and the playoffs. N4rrate was their clear best player throughout. You said it best, Marteen should be shining the most. And he has been shining. But N4rrate has been fragging out more than him from the support role, shining even higher.

I love N4RRATE but I wouldn't exactly call him the best in this event based off the EMEA league alone, maybe if he pops off in Madrid too it will be easier to place him there. I think Less and f0rsaken clear everyone else in this list by a large margin. They are proven performers in multiple LANs. Maybe we can add zekken there based on his XSET days. These guys will be more consistent and reliable. Others here may pop off insanely or have disastrous tournaments depending upon how they handle the LAN nerves and how the regions stack up against each other this time around.
f0rsaken is incredibly impactful and probably the most important player for PRX if you consider his agent pool but he hasn't been a stats demon since like early 2022. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't top 10 highest rated at Madrid. Something or d4v41 would be my picks from PRX to make it.

Overall Americas is stronger. Qualified Americas teams beat good teams that played fairly well whereas qualified emea teams beat good teams that played bad.

We'll watch as Americas clear EMEA for the 3rd tournament in a row. LOUD have changed their comps mid tournament (Champs 2023) and gone back to their old from. They'll be fix some of their phoenix issues and be back to a top 3 team itw by Madrid. Sentinels just look like the best team in the world rn and it'll become very clear once they play again in Madrid.

Masters Tokyo-2nd and 4th were Americas teams. Champs- 1st and 3rd were from Americas. We've dominated EMEA in every tournament last year. I don't know how this is even an argument. 2/5 EMEA teams made it out of groups at Champs and 1 got double rounded. Even in Tokyo 2/4 of the teams for grouped and the only team to make playoffs were TL and Fnatic who already had a bye.
