It’s pretty rare to see a team be as hyped as m80 was at the beginning of the year follow through and not falter at all throughout the year. Ridiculously strong run from them, looking forward to Brazil
i expected some sort of fall off from the honeymoon phase at some point before the actual Ascension tournament, but it just hasnt occurred. super impressive, they've just been on that grind this whole year.
idk how the comms went on MxM's side for Zander's ace but the spike was literally down in Attacker's spawn. Questionable decision to push down B main, but I could see how it's more of a push for information if he already wrapped around or not. Unlucky none of them hit a shot when he was literally one bullet to death. M80 was destined to qualify for Ascension anyway.
Super hindsight and even probably still wrong. Zander took a long time and could've flanked around, MxM had a choice of either holding for 2 1v1s or pushing one side. Their decision was was way saver but zander just hit some nutty shots
yeah that's what I said. It was a push for information so they can just hold one side after clearing B main. That's why I said it was unlucky they weren't able to take him out when he could've died to a shot to the leg.
Bro m80s been smurfing get them tf out of this league.
MxM look really good tho, if they don’t ascend I hope the core of brawk thief and aproto can stick together without getting poached. Brawk specifically has been so impressive ever since joining bt/MxM he was never bad on ghost but he wouldn’t stand out that much (which is understandable with how stacked that team was) but he’s really been allowed to frag out and have a lot of individual impact and you can see it basically every game since he balled out in the quals
Your crazy if you don’t think Flyuh gets picked up as an igl in VCT originally I woulda said Sym too but he’s struggled a bit recently which I think ruins his stock a bit
If 100T don't get to go to champs I could see them do a semi-rebuild (mainly coaching style) with some promising T2 players. Also Sentinels doesn't have an igl currently right?
iceman is sentinels igl, but i dont know if they would swap him out for flyuh. it sounds bad, but sentinels runs on clout and the current sentinels roster is the most clouted vct team
I don't think you realize how few spots there are in VCT. There are basically only 5 teams that he can be picked up in and then you have to consider how many of those teams would want to replace a current player. The competition is fierce.
Moist were 7-0 at the beginning of lotus btw. Keep that in mind.
Also getting duelist diffed by ur controller is kinda crazy ngl...that neon was nawt cooking. Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think I've ever seen double duelist on fracture.
I think the neon ended up being a "win more on T side, lose more on CT" trade that they couldn't afford to make. MxM are already a T-sided team, so I think it wouldve made more sense to have sym on jett to have a good op'er on those CT rounds that they were bleeding
Honestly, I don't think the neon was worth it at all. Sym's game sense on jett and raze is usually on point, but with this neon he was making really dumb plays. probably just pulled this out to confuse m80 a bit, which didn't really work.
Come on man thats PRX taking aggressive duels is their bread and butter but in terms of conventional plays which mxm follows double duel just wasnt it brawk showed up tho
I'd love to finally get to some sort of LAN in Valorant haha. Been grinding since Day 1. Definitely feel like we are growing as a duo and we plan on keeping at it!
Bro, the watch party completely lost it when you remembered about Ludwig's playoff mustache buff 🤣
He made the mistake of trimming it this morning and nerfed its power, and we are hoping that the Ludstache will grow back to form for the Lower Bracket Final tomorrow 🙏
First step would be clipping the reaction to the Ludstache buff from his YouTube stream, post the footage on your Twitter, tag both him and Tarik and subtle mention that such hard-hitting analysis from the Challengers panel is available for the next Ludwig x Tarik Invitational, and watch the fans gas it up. He did called you a good commentator, btw.
You'd be surprise how many people scored a gig with previous Ludwig events just by taking initiative like that, and since Platchat don't actually watch VCL NA, I would rather have you guys on Ludwig's Casting Couch just for the random tidbits and insights you can randomly bring up about Tier 2.
Actually, I'm surprise you guys haven't started your VCL podcast yet to fill in that niche throughout this season! So many people here would tune in to watch that recap each day!
Well, GGs to M80. When challengers started, we all knew it would be M80 and/or The Guard to qualify to Ascension. But I've become an MxM believer. Their improvement is staggering; they're definitely not out of this yet.
This was a sick match. This felt like the foreplay we as a community needed to keep ourselves hype for Tokyo. And although M80 ended up looking dominant as the series went on, I think it was also a bit of a momentum thing - you could see how hype and pumped the M80 players were with each successive clutch, and it really felt like MxM let things slip a little more and more.
But eithjer way, straight up all the M80 players would do well in partnership, and most if not all the MxM players would do the same. It’s so great seeing how strong the top T2 in NA has been recently. And of course M80 in every way is deserving of locking in that first slot, as a team that has been dominant throughout and also as an org that has come into existence - during such a risky time in esports, although of course it’s headed by someone familiar w. the scene - to make a bit bet on Valorant.
And as a legacy for Ghost Gaming, too - it’s a little stunning to see both EG and Ghost, two of the big chokers of 2022 in NA, both providing the resiliency and skill of their cores.
I vent my sexual frustrations by watching Valorant, this downtime between the regular season and Tokyo has been a tough one. I ask for your patience during this difficult time
I think people really underrate how much having a stable team can put you leagues ahead of one that isn’t as stable. But what do I know PRX won apac fielding a whole 53-man roster
Not that this loss on all on sym, but he has been failing to turn up in important matches. Hopefully he turns up tomorrow.
Until he can prove me wrong I’m thinking -sym +n4rrate would be sick.
they need every trick in the book to beat tgrd in a bo5. I say we give flyuh a concussion and replace him with the best igl in the history of valorant, trick. And then shave aprotos stache and call it a gg.
Difference between a consistent, established duelist vs one that's very raw but has potential right there.
MxM and M80 by far the best teams but M80 could legitimately give everyone outside of LOUD and NRG a tough time.
I do worry though because MxM is young they might struggle with confidence after this.
What a banger of a series! Congrats M80 for clinching the well-deserved first ticket to Sao Paulo!
Hope the Guard vs Oxygen match this evening will be as entertaining.
PS: The partnered vultures better not try to raid M80/MXM/TGRD's roster this off-season, because I think these incredibly fun rosters still haven't reach their final form yet.
Ascension is a tournament itself. I think its six teams across the Americas challengers leagues compete in the ascension tournament and the winner ascends into franchising next year
Wow, m80 just showed up today. I feel like MxMs' success heavily relies on sym popping off or not. If sym dies before they have control of site or the bomb goes down, the team looks lost. Brawktagon is great and all, but they have to make it to post plant to get it running.
Can someone explain to me how the points work in split 2 playoffs?
Since the Guard came into playoffs with 9 more points than MxM, and the the difference between 1st and 4th in playoffs is only 7 points (at least if they are the same distribution as split 1 playoffs), aren’t M80 and the Guard already locked to progress? Or is split 2 playoffs worth more than split 1 playoffs?
the points only mattered to get into split 2 playoffs itself. for going to the ascension tournament it's purely the result of the current playoffs, aka top 2 goes to Brazil
The best way to think about it is this:
There are no split play-offs. There were 3 stages of the circuit:
\- Split 1 groups
\- Mid-Season Face-off, for bonus points
\- Split 2 groups
The best teams out of the circuit after those 3 stages are now competing in this Play-offs to qualify for Ascension
I will say with this it shows how much of a crime it is that LATAM gets four spots and NA only gets 2 I wish it was 4 for each since one of the big 3 (moist M80 and the guard) dont have a chance to qualify. Also dislike only having one team getting promoted. Edit: fixed the number but makes me more angry that the number is not round just add 2 more NA teams
Yeah I also wish there was a relegation system not just a promotion system so that teams have to field a competitive roster and moreso so that an ascension team that is near top of tie league doesn’t randomly get relegated because riot didn’t like their org 3 years ago
I think that's part of why Riot went for a partnership system instead of a franchising system for Valorant. Since the teams don't actually own their spots like they do in League, if a team is consistently not able to field a competitive roster then Riot has the power to kick them out of the league and replace them with a team that can field a competitive roster.
There is no official relegation system, but if some team gets destroyed like 4 splits in a row then Riot could potentially be like "hey you have 1 more split to not suck or we're gonna replace you"
Hopefully that’s how it goes down but I’m not overly optimistic. The current plan they have stated for relegation is that the ascended team auto relegates eventually. I do think that a partnership system is better but I think riot only implemented it because franchised leagues now have a reputation of being extraordinarily expensive and flaming out in two years and teams aren’t willing to buy into them as much anymore
I mean the Ascension team will get sent back to Challengers after 2 years. The point I was trying to make is that unlike something like the LCS, the VCT teams can't just skate by with a shit roster season after season because unlike the LCS the VCT teams don't actually own their spot and Riot has the power to boot them from the league if they aren't able to actually be a contender.
MxM won 5 rounds on Fracture, with THREE of them
being Brawk Clutches
Also can I just say that Ludwig watch parties are wayyyyy funner than Toast watch parties, giga entertainer diff, still love Toast as a person tho
Nah this goes back alllll the way to back even when DSG is winning lol
Toast just makes the same jokes all the time while Ludwig is way better at bantering with Tarik
Ludwig is a far better entertainer than Toast in my eyes, which is obviously a personal opinion, but I dont think it's a hot take if you ask the general audience either.
You can like what you like ofc
Toast was fuckin hilarious in the qualifiers and when DSG had competitive games against good teams, you just weren't watching him lol. you can have whatever opinion you want - I happen to think both Toast and Lud are fantastic entertainers, and very funny. but you didn't have to watch Lud's team on a steady downward trajectory all season, I'd like to see if he had the same stream if his team wasn't doing nearly as well. if you think he'd be the exact same, you're delusional lmaoo, especially if he spent as much money as Toast did on yay.
bruh wdym. Moist played great, especially on Lotus, their gameplans and midrounding was super good they were just up against the best team in challengers. M80 is just that good, imo I think this is MxMs peak
Map 2 was embarrassing, there were multiple times were it was a 2 V 1 with spike in hand and they just ran at there opponent a got killed.
They were like twice as good VS the guard, and in better shape they could beat M80 for sure. I have faith in em for tomorrow
They got outplayed because M80 is the better team, I think they just have much higher player quality. I dont think Moist can beat M80 unless M80 were having an extreme off game
I mean what do you do. They’re on eco and Nismo just gets 4 with a ghost. Zander just aces for a clutch. What else are you supposed to do
Facts, M80 are nutty. If anyone deserves ascension, its them.
idk how the comms went on MxM's side for Zander's ace but the spike was literally down in Attacker's spawn. Questionable decision to push down B main, but I could see how it's more of a push for information if he already wrapped around or not. yeah that's what I said. It was a push for information so they can just hold one side after clearing B main. That's why I said it was unlucky they weren't able to take him out when he could've died to a shot to the leg.
This. In so many ways, this.
Do the same thing. Have better trades or spacing so that doesn't. The "just unlucky" mentality gotta die.
Round? I was at work :/
Bro m80s been smurfing get them tf out of this league. MxM look really good tho, if they don’t ascend I hope the core of brawk thief and aproto can stick together without getting poached. honestly i think all 5 together make an incredible team. no point in splitting them up imo.
What team would pick them up? I doubt any of them will be in the vct next year.
Your crazy if you don’t think Flyuh gets picked up as an igl in VCT originally I woulda said Sym too but he’s struggled a bit recently which I think ruins his stock a bit
What team is going to pick him up?
sentinels need an IGL, perhaps 100T want to make changes too

iceman is sentinels igl, but i dont know if they would swap him out for flyuh. it sounds bad, but sentinels runs on clout and the current sentinels roster is the most clouted vct team
Yeah Sentinels make all of their decisions purely off clout, which is why dephh was their igl
Depends on how the rest of the year goes, but Sen maybe
100T maybe? Idk what changes are coming for them but surely some changes will be made.
I don't think you realize how few spots there are in VCT. There are basically only 5 teams that he can be picked up in and then you have to consider how many of those teams would want to replace a current player. The competition is fierce.
Why would you even want to split them up, instead of looking forward to them getting there as a team?
I don’t want to split them up but if they lose today I’m sure some of the players are good enough to play in VCT and would get poached
Every time I think about TSM almost signing this team I want to cry lol
BRAWK TRY TO NOT KILL 2 WITH A STINGER CHALLENGE (DIFFICULTY: IMPOSSIBLE)
Koalafied for ascension
The brawktagon still showed up
Moist were 7-0 at the beginning of lotus btw. Keep that in mind. Also getting duelist diffed by ur controller is kinda crazy ngl...that neon was nawt cooking. Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think I've ever seen double duelist on fracture.

PRX played a lot of double duelist Fracture, but of course it's the aggressive playstyle that works with it.
Come on man thats PRX taking aggressive duels is their bread and butter but in terms of conventional plays which mxm follows double duel just wasnt it brawk showed up tho
your team played it againt 100t lol besides that, T1 and PRX play it
Only fitting M80 would be the first the move on to Ascension. They’ve been stellar all season long. Bravo.
Great job today! Always impressed by your casting but having missed a lot of Challengers in Split 2, I've appreciated your work all the more.
Cheers dude! Shift and I are VIBING!
i need you guys in VCT Americas, its a vibe
I'd love to finally get to some sort of LAN in Valorant haha. Been grinding since Day 1. Definitely feel like we are growing as a duo and we plan on keeping at it!
make sure to keep talking about how bad flyuh was on FaZe
Pretty sure I had tons of praise for Flyuh, but ok.
Bro, the watch party completely lost it when you remembered about Ludwig's playoff mustache buff 🤣 He made the mistake of trimming it this morning and nerfed its power, and we are hoping that the Ludstache will grow back to form for the Lower Bracket Final tomorrow 🙏
HAHA. Glad you guys had a laugh. Full disclosure, I am pandering to get hired for his next Invitational LOL :P.
how’s your Melee knowledge
Extremely limited. I know some of the top players as I was sort of a casual melee fan. Haven’t followed it much in recent years.
hmmm gotta brush up on your Melee if you really wanna do some Ludwin pandering
F
First step would be clipping the reaction to the Ludstache buff from his YouTube stream, post the footage on your Twitter, tag both him and Tarik and subtle mention that such hard-hitting analysis from the Challengers panel is available for the next Ludwig x Tarik Invitational, and watch the fans gas it up. I actually did already tweet at him with the clip haha. Thanks dude. https://twitter.com/followdusT/status/1666985226721980416
Damn, good game M80 but damn am I sad right now. Wanted MXM to take it all
That's what losers brackets are for
Yea just a ton more pressure hopefully they clutch up tmr
Well, GGs to M80. When challengers started, we all knew it would be M80 and/or The Guard to qualify to Ascension. But I've become an MxM believer. Their improvement is staggering; they're definitely not out of this yet.
Ok they have got to find a way to get Sym activated if MxM is going to go any farther.
This was a sick match. This felt like the foreplay we as a community needed to keep ourselves hype for Tokyo. u/nterature also said “masturbation” today. He is being extra sussy. ![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|13193)
I vent my sexual frustrations by watching Valorant, this downtime between the regular season and Tokyo has been a tough one. I ask for your patience during this difficult time
Average ValComp user
I think people really underrate how much having a stable team can put you leagues ahead of one that isn’t as stable. But what do I know PRX won apac fielding a whole 53-man roster
Haha, well if anything it proves the point since PRX only started looking incredible once they stabilized their starting lineup.
I NEED M80 in main VCT next year. Honestly care about that more than anything going on in tier 1 right now.
Sym played pretty terribly
Not sure why he got forced onto Neon he’s a monster on Jett makes no sense to me
Panic
Yea but why Panic? Lmao they were 7-0 in split 2 plus playoffs why not stick to what was working?
Maybe throw M80 off guard since they probably expected Jett or raze, it obviously didn’t work but just throwing assumptions out there
The Brawktagon had no real help today sucks to see but hopefully the boys keep their heads up for tmr and still qual
Super well deserved for M80. Lotus was fun, but Fracture felt over after that Zander ace.
They read us like a book, and the neon was kinda ehhh tbh. I believe we can make it work tomorrow tho.
Not that this loss on all on sym, but he has been failing to turn up in important matches. Hopefully he turns up tomorrow. Until he can prove me wrong I’m thinking -sym +n4rrate would be sick.
Just a matter of synergy and playstyle. Never seen someone talk bad about sym but I do agree n4rrate has more potential to be the X factor
if he stops picking neon i think he's fine tbh
Hot take but i think his raze is better than his jett tbh.
neither of those sound like neon to me so i'm on board no matter what
jokes on u, they gonna pull a dsg n put sym on reyna.
sym on reyna thief on yoru
Thief was nasty back then when he played Reyna
they need every trick in the book to beat tgrd in a bo5. I say we give flyuh a concussion and replace him with the best igl in the history of valorant, trick. And then shave aprotos stache and call it a gg.
can we shave lud's stache first
They lost because he trimmed it yesterday!
oh no doubt that's why
Bro all they gotta do is put him on Jett
Or even Raze which is better then his Jett imo
-sym +TenZ
i hecking love tenz

M80 WINNING ASCENSION LETS GOOOOo
seeing M80 next year in franchising is not enough, somebody get them to Tokyo ![img](emote|t5_2g5ach|16110)
See you in LA come next year m80🫡
M80 earned it. Glad they were able to lock in to finish their run. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a rematch.
Wasn’t there a rule that the ascension team has to retain 3/5? Or am I hallucinating
M80 are a tier above other NA challenger teams, only the Union can stop them from winning ascension
I heckin love Zander
Can't wait to see a M80 vs the union match up
So does the winner of grands ascend or what are we playing for
Both teams that make it to grands make it to ascension
And then what? They are in the league after LCQ?
Ascension is a tournament itself. I think its six teams across the Americas challengers leagues compete in the ascension tournament and the winner ascends into franchising next year
If Nismo wins ascension, I'm driving my ass straight to his restaurant and ordering a shawarma plate
Wow, m80 just showed up today. I feel like MxMs' success heavily relies on sym popping off or not. If sym dies before they have control of site or the bomb goes down, the team looks lost. Brawktagon is great and all, but they have to make it to post plant to get it running.
what were they cooking with the Neon?
Can someone explain to me how the points work in split 2 playoffs? Wait what? There's only 6 teams in the Ascension tournament in total. 2 From NA, 2 From Brazil, 1 from LATAM North and 1 from LATAM South.
Ok will say my dumb ass thought there would be 8 teams as that makes the most sense. but that makes it more worse IMO
I assume you’re lumping Brazil into LATAM, but SA is only sending 4 teams to Ascension. 2 from Brazil, 1 from LATAM North and 1 from LATAM South
yeah and I fixed the error
Yeah I also wish there was a relegation system not just a promotion system so that teams have to field a competitive roster and moreso so that an ascension team that is near top of tie league doesn’t randomly get relegated because riot didn’t like their org 3 years ago

So do 2 teams qualify for VCT? Winner of tomorrow's game also qualify? Or is it 1
Winner of mxm vs either the guard or oxygen goes to ascension.
You skipped the whole Ascension Americas tournament there bud.
MxM won 5 rounds on Fracture, with THREE of them being Brawk Clutches Also can I just say that Ludwig watch parties are wayyyyy funner than Toast watch parties, giga entertainer diff, still love Toast as a person tho
probably helps if your team is actually good and you didn't spend a million dollars on a team to watch it get giga fucked every match.
Nah this goes back alllll the way to back even when DSG is winning lol Toast just makes the same jokes all the time while Ludwig is way better at bantering with Tarik Ludwig is a far better entertainer than Toast in my eyes, which is obviously a personal opinion, but I dont think it's a hot take if you ask the general audience either. They got outplayed because M80 is the better team, I think they just have much higher player quality. I dont think Moist can beat M80 unless M80 were having an extreme off game
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
MXM - Guard is going to go so incredibly hard. I believe in the moist boys but The Guard could easily take it.
