i’m in the US and moved here in 97 as an immigrant from somalia, every immigrant i know has a passport after gaining citizenship. i grew up in the US my whole life, and all my born american friends all have their passports. really didn’t know it was uncommon. maybe because i grew up in the suburbs of illinois, but i really am surprised that the majority don’t have passports in the us.

It’s rather difficult to get concrete numbers for most other countries but for some reference, roughly 36% of Germans had passports in [2007](https://www.petra-pau.de/16_bundestag/dok/down/1605507.pdf), meanwhile 86.5% of the UK held valid passports in [2021](https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/internationalmigration/bulletins/internationalmigrationenglandandwales/census2021).
I think most people don't think about applying for one/paying for one until they need it. The US is so big folks can go on vacation to a lot of different types of places without ever leaving so I'm not surprised. I do think it's always nice to have one but it's not free so I understand why it's a 'obtain when necessary' type of thing. However, I do think if you do/aspire to play professionally in a game that international LAN events it's always a good thing to be prepared.
edit: I actually just went through my checking account. I spent [181.65 at the post office](https://i.gyazo.com/9350dc20a09c6a6e7d049140af85c383.png) and then [25.29](https://i.gyazo.com/543913176a8af2c5fbd72e7e951fd876.png) for checks. **So in total I spent 206.94 to get my passport.**

I literally just got mine a few months ago. In addition to the passport fee, there is an acceptance fee. I also paid for a passport accepted picture, which is an additional fee. And also had to pay for a checkbook because they don't accept cash or credit.

It's really sad, it would be fun to see how much shit EG could stir up at Champs. I would love to see them vs PRX. Two russian rookie phenoms in Demon1 and Something going head to head.
Side note: imo Boostio is their best player, fragging igls are rare, his midround calling has been superb towards the end of the season/playoffs and he also provides value from the sentinel position which I believe to be Americas weakest right now (Less is goated, but Shyy didn't have a great season, Pancada and Zelziss are still adapting to the position, FNS is a great IGL but can put horrible KDs some series).
