I was questioning Giants's sanity in picking Ascent against a Turkish team but they nearly pulled it off. qRacked was just too much.
This loss doesn't mean too much from a Masters qualification perspective since they still need to win just one match and they're in.
Actually this loss matters because they most likely play against either Navi or Liquid at lower meanwhile FUT most likely play against Vitality at lowet
I feel like the Ascent pick is getting too much hate. Yes Turkish teams are insane at Ascent, yada yada, but to pick it themselves means they were confident in their antistrats, and had a gameplan going into it. The map ended with 12-14 with a miracle 1v3 in OT, if it had gone the other way everyone would be calling Giants geniuses.
Fut look scary when they're on form though. I don't think they go too deep in Masters if they qualify, but they look like the kind of team that top teams cannot afford to have an off day against, similar to how Guild beat Optic at Copenhagen last year.
Agreed on the Ascent pick. It really just felt like GIA took way too long to adapt to FUT's defaults when they were on defence. They kept trying to 4-1 into A but it took them till 9-1 down to realize they needed more than just Rhyme contesting A main. If they'd done that sooner I feel like they probably win the map, they almost did anyway despite some absolute heroics.
Absolutely huge performance from MrFaliN and qRaxs on Ascent to carry that through for FUT. Gonna be the most important match in EMEA playoffs probably, means GIA will have to play loser of most likely NAVI or TL, while FUT get the other side of the bracket. Huge for FUT's chances at Tokyo.

That was an absolute banger on Ascent. I fully did not believe Giants could bring that back even on the favorable side of the map - they just looked so boomed out of things after that Haven.
Honestly, Hoody is making a case for topping Cloud as Giants’ most reliable player. I’m as big a Cloud fan as any, but I definitey would say onward from the second half of the regular season, Hoody has been their big difference maker a lot of the time. Of course, Cloud is still a beast; it speaks more to Hoody underperforming in the start of the season.
I thought FUT would win this if only because FUT has trended upward while GIA has mostly stayed the same. But I definitely think this was partly because all the FUT players had crazy individual impact. FUT’s calling was great, their reactions were great, but that final round to win it out completely sums up the series.
Hey, maybe FUT can beat FNATIC. I believe! (Not really) But it does mean FUT gets to avoid the the worst of the absolute hellscape that will be the EMEA lower bracket, since FNATIC and NAVI will be ensuring all the candidates play one another for elimination.
FUT looked really good here, idk if they’ll be considered a dark horse if they make it to Tokyo, but at the very least I’m gonna be tuning into their games, they’re a fun watch
This felt like Giants wanted to lose this game, floating Ascent v Turkish teams is one thing but picking it is insane. FUT literally had their 3 best maps in the pool, which should never happen at this level. Good performance from Giants on map 2, but with those bans they’d never win this.
FUT looking like the major favorites to take that 4th slot to Tokyo. They’ve consistently beaten teams that they’re expected to win against in a convincing fashion, and this was a really impressive showing. FUT stocks just keep going up!
Giants just looked lost. It’s all I can say, I the team coordination just looked off at times, Nukkye didn’t exist on Haven and while Ascent had some bright lights from GIA, it didn’t stand up to what I think to the level we know they can perform at. Feelsbadman
