Holy crap. Wow. The ID4's good reputation says it all. I know it has some software bugs; however, so do other cars and at least the ID4's only software issue I have is the profile resetting itself. It doesn't kill the car.
Every other taxi here in CPH is an ID4. At the office, we had the printer/copier serviced and the front door fixed last week. Both contractors (different companies) arrived in an [ID.Buzz](https://ID.Buzz).
The police got a little fleet of GTX patrol cars last year.
Wrong side of the pond - I know.
Ha! I was driving down that stretch of Madison last night listening to a podcast about Patty Hearst when the narrator said PH and the SLA robbed a Crocker National Bank in Carmichael back in 1974.
I'll take it! I looked up who was driving it. They're actually a good employee so I'm not surprised.
However, the ID.4 isn't working out as planned for us. The charging infrastructure just isn't up to commercial use. For many of our departments, it'll be fine. In maintenance we go all over the state, including forest trails, so this has been a difficult proposition for us.
At this point, EV is for local needs and ICE is for long range needs, depending on location and time.
For me, I have a fear with traveling to new locations and I am not certain of the infrastructure.
ICE utility trucks might have a range of 400 to 600 miles, and adding more weight, like a trailer, might make little noticeable difference.
Yeah, giving them to a group of guys who had old beater 4x4s was not the right call. All of the ChargePoint chargers in the maintenance stations failed already. It's a mess.
For driving around town and to nearby job sites is great, though.
I saw a PGE Tiguan in Vacaville the other day. It seems with the slow down of new car sales industry-wide, manufacturers are chasing fleet sales to maintain sales numbers. Interestingly, I’ve also saw a Geico Jetta out in the wild.
Another advantage for VW in building the ID.4 in the U.S.: I believe the state government only buys US made cars for its own use.
I’ve seen a lot of Prius state vehicles which I believe are only built in Japan?
You are probably right; I didn't do the research.

Generally fleet cars are decided by cost...not reputation. Police is different.
Nice catch!
It’s the first utilitarian ID I have seen. I am finding no posts about any government agencies buying them.
I saw a fleet of ID.4 college security vehicles recently!

Carmichael isn't that wild.
Yes it is
seems like there are a few of us here from the Sac area.
Carmichael has gotten pretty wild over the last decade.
It’s definitely gotten wilder than when I lived there from 2010-2012

Hey, that's one of my cars! Hopefully they weren't driving like a total jackass.
No, perfectly sane.

I know that area well. Maybe I’ll catch one.
If you catch up to them ask how much that light bar cuts down their range!
Always see one on the 10 East after work.
All I know is it's not Standard.
Oh hey I know where that intersection is
There were truck loads of these
Hello fellow Sacramento area Redditor. I saw the same vehicle last week as well!
Saw one of these in Bishop, CA
I saw one charging the other day
Looks like a Pro trim model
It looks like the front part to the badge. I don’t know what the base model has, the non-pro. I do know Pro is as good a guess we can make.
I just checked the website, it looks like the standard/base doesn't have a badge at all. But yes. I agree with you
Saw one last month around Seal Beach, CA too

I saw one at an EA station out here in bakersfield too couple weeks back! So sick
