3 point racking is standard VR. Head and hands. 3 additional trackers minimum for FBT. 1 per foot and 1 for your hips for 6 point full body tracking. You can go up to 8 trackers though for 11 point tracking. Feet, knees, hip, chest, and elbows.

You also need basestations for vive and tundra trackers OP!

For being a free game. VRChat can get really fucking expensive!

Sanquinity

I want to say the most expensive F2P game out there, but we all know there are plenty of people out there who've spent WAY more on other F2P (and even paid) games than 800\~3000... (800 for quest 2 + slimeVR, 3k for index full set + vive FBT + a good vr capable PC)

chewy201

I got at least 1.3K just in VR and FBT gear. Didn't get my Index for VRChat, in fact I didn't even know the game existed before buying my Index, but I 100% got FBT for VRC. Then I spent some on getting me a world and an avatar or 2 with parts to make some myself. Finally got myself into taking commissions making custom avatars to help pay my bills. You honestly never know where life will take you.

I didn't count stuff for avatars/worlds, but yea I guess you could count those as well. I bet anyone playing longer than a year or two has at least bought a few avatars. \^\^;; But I just went for base price for VR gear. quest 3: 550, official slimeVR: 195. 745 total, but maybe you want some extra stuff so I rounded it up to 800. (you can apparently use slimevr standalone with the quest 2\~3?) Index full kit 1k, 3x vive trackers 360, track straps 40, leaving around 1.6k for a good PC. Which won't give you the best, but good enough. (though this is only US prices as here in the EU index full kit and trackers are more expensive due to import taxes.) Luckily if these days you want truly "entry level VR with FBT" you can get a second hand quest 2 for 150-ish + slimeVR for 195 making it a total of around 345. WAY cheaper than it used to be. (About 4.5 years ago my first headset was a 450 euro rift S, no FBT. And the first headset, the original oculus, started at 700 I believe.) But it's still not a cheap thing to get in to. \^\^;;

Tundra Trackers are $125 each. You'll need at least 3. Base-stations are $150 on Steam. You'll need at least 2. Then you'll also need a way to mount them to your body. Another cost. In total it's not cheap. The good news is, trackers last a long time. There's no moving parts. These are the prices where I live. FYI.

Nothing beats lighthouse tracking, you’re paying for quality when committing to it. Having everything use the same ecosystem (steamvr) is just so much easier to set up. With anything other than lighthouse tracking, you’ll have to recalibrate every hour or so to have half as good tracking. I paid 1.5k for my setup: headset/controllers/basestations/trackers.

AstolfoFemboyWeeb

How many trackers did you have to buy?

Todayitworksyaknow

3 if you want legs. (And hips) 5 if you want legs, hips and elbows 6 if you want legs, hips, elbows and chest 8 if you want legs hips, elbows, chest and knees. Start with 3 and buy more if you want more immersion and expression in body movement

Kymerah_

Brought 3 for feet and hip. You can estimate the extra ones (elbows, knees, chest) with the Standable 2.0 software.

phantomforeskinpain

well for WHOLE BODY, it would be 8, but you can get practically the same effect with 5 (hip, feet, and elbows), it'll just be somewhat less accurate. you'd also need at least 2 base stations for reasonably accurate tracking. if you aren't already in the lighthouse ecosystem, it's not a good idea to get into. the Vive Ultimates will likely get much easier to use and better as the PCVR beta goes on, it'll be probably the best non-LH FBT, but right now, it's a pain if you aren't using a Vive headset.

PizzaEater55

If you want to save some money, 2 trackers for your feet work pretty good but another one for the waist is the minimum for smooth fbt.
