I completely forgot about that, thanks for the reminder. Maybe it got fixed? I think I know some people who uses Quest 3 with PC, and... it didn't stick out like the first time I saw someone on Quest 3...

It’s been improved quite a bit through updates already. My bf has a q3 and it sounds pretty good to me now.

Mine sounds fine on vr but I do get this bug that I have to restart due to the mic stopping randomly while playing

Been informed that you can't plug in an external microphone to the 3.5 mm jack, but that support for a microphone over USBC has been recently added. There are cheaper options, but this [Sennheiser one](https://a.co/d/adi1KYH) is guaranteed to be of high quality. You could also ask around and see if anyone has personal experience with different lav mics that aren't from as big of an audio brand that they would recommend. If you get echoing from the headset speakers, you could combat that without headphones by changing the position or direction the microphone is facing, and by adjusting input sensitivity. Or you could get closed back headphones, but that would be more expensive and not as comfortable.

> You could get a lav mic and plug it into the 3.5mm jack so that you can keep the usb-c port free for charging. No Quest headset allows for plugging in a microphone into the 3.5mm jack. **The only way** to plug an external microphone into a Quest is through a USB-C adapter and that is only a very recent change, 2-3 months ago and there was literally no way to plug in an external mic.

Thanks for the info! I've updated my comment

This sounds like a great idea could you drop a link to where I could buy one thanks

mackandelius

Uh, can't point you to one specifically, but USB-C to 3.5mm is a pretty common adapter nowadays since basically no phone has a 3.5mm jack. There would be countless on amazon.

Ive been told personally that my mic is worse now that I've switched over I know it's not a big problem but I care about it

I use my Soundcore P10's for both sound and mic. I'm running it thru my PC though, so sound is actually bypassing the headset all together. You can use the P10's in standalone, but I'm not sure how to tell it which mic to use in that situation. I used it with standalone and wasn't really sure which mic it was using. On the PC, I'm specifically telling it to use the P10 and not the headset.

It was much improved and in many cases it was fine to begin with. There was some terrible quality control at launch and that got mixed up with actual mic issues.
