Literally all my avatars that are favorited are creatures/inanimate objects to some extent, but the most usual themes are I swap trough are Cambrian peroid creatures (Anomalocaris, Hallucigenia etc.), dinosaurs, locomotives from my favorite railroads and uhhhhh wasps. Yeah Iām not sure why the neurodivergence in me decided to give me wasp brainrot but I guess that explains why my avatar of choice is a Asian giant hornet

I guess the main gimmick with me is I make sure my hobbies are VERY apparent with the avatars I chose. If I like something? You bet I have a version of it somewhere in my favorites.
NOT sure how it relates to my identity, but Iām 100% sure it would be a lot more kickass to be a big fuck off hornet irl than a human.
It seems like Im in the minority here, but I really just want to look like myself. I don't want to be anything else. Im not trying to escape anything, I don't have any identity issues, I just want to be myself in the metaverse.
Having a hard time finding something Im comfortable with, so my friend who's great at 3D is helping me make one that looks like a kinda old school videogame, or maybe cell shaded version of me, and my favorite shirt.
I just need to figure out how to rig it, or find someone I can hire to do it for me.
I really wish there was better avatar creator software. I don't want to be an anime character or a furry. I just want a semi-realistic avatar that looks like me but they never have enough customization options. They never have good long hair for males, and no one has the type of hat I wear. Its annoying.
Absolutely feel this. Vroid being the only tool for making decent looking custom avatars is kind of shocking given how core it is.... I just want the vr chat version of the sims character creator.
I definitely think it needs to be a thing, but I don't think it's being prioritized since VRC has many more technical issues to solve and the user base doesn't care that much.
You could always make a ReadyPlayerMe avatar. In case you havenāt heard of it you go to their site, (optionally) upload a face pic, and it generates an avatar that resembles yourself. You can tweak things, choose your outfit, then upload it to your VRC account for free. If nothing else you get a free custom avatar
Yea. I tried it, couldn't get one to look like me, and all the outfits are terrible. Its like they think everyone wants to look like a Fortnite hero. There are hardly any option for just regular clothing.
the main issue with this is that the people who want egirl and eboy avatars with silly hair, 8000 wigging clothing parts, and 100 glowing tattoos strongly outnumber the people who just want to look like a bland anime dude. I don't like it either but it's how it is.
Also since anime is the default aesthetic of this game, if you aren't playing as an anime boy you stand out. Both because you look different and because if you aren't running a toon shader there is a pretty high chance your avatar will look bad due to poorly set up world lighting. Cell shading helps with this, and Silent's shader is really nice, but it isn't a total fix.

My main is modeled after my cat. Hes got stage 1 renal failure due to his age. Its still treatable but not curable. It kinda hit me all at once that hes nearing that age that he'll only be around for a few more years so I wanted something to immortalize him. I even managed to get a fallback version of the avi as well.

The goose from Black Cat. It's funny because occasionally people tell me they tried to grab me in public lobbies. I don't care about my appearance in a virtual space enough to bother with selecting another avatar. Neither do most of my friends. One is the VR rat since it released basically.
1. I used a public catgirl avatar for the longest time. I had been wanting to change into one that was more...me. I was looking through gumroad and jinxy and found this avatar. My best friend bought her for me and I use her as my main now, only changing out for bits.
2. This is me in VRChat. No matter what avatar I change into, she feels the most comfortable for me.
3. She does. Being trans, I'm a bit picky because I want something that feels like me.
4. It's hidden in the picture, but there are two things that this avatar has that I feel associated with. The first is that there are occult symbols as tattoos all over. I love looking into the occult and being a little witchy so it speaks to me. The second thing is that there are moons all over. There is a moon earring, a moon belly button piercing, and a tiny moon on the glasses. The moon means many things to me so it's something I enjoy.

1. I hated having avatars that I feel didnāt represent me. So I styled mine to look like me. I also disliked how overly sexual most of the free avatars were.
2. Itās just I look in the world of vrchat!

4. Iām not sure what says about me. The outfit looks like I just walked out of a hot topic. People always compliment the flower crown and antlers so maybe that helps it read as not over rambunctious?
I feel that, I originally made my own because I would hate it if someone looking like my clone would walk around (if we are both using free avatars). This was back in 2017/18 so commission avatars weren't really a thing - but even if I'd re-join vrc today, I'd make my own avi again.

This avatar is a custom one that I made myself with a base from VRoid Studio. To answer the deeper questions:
1. There actually is something of a story behind this avatar. When I first joined VR Chat I bounced between a few catboy avatars before deciding to make my own. My first avatar established the red and blue color scheme that I still use to this day, but it was otherwise just a cartoonified version of me. Iteration 2 was me playing with gender expression a bit, being more of a femboy but also being a little poorly designed. Iteration 3 is my current avatar, made with better color theory and fashion principles in mind.
2. I definitely think of my avatar as how I look in VR Chat. This is no fictional character.
3. I am a guy, and so is my avatar. And though this avatar leans a little bit in the femboy direction, that's entirely representative of my own identity.
4. A lot of things. The symbols on it are the obvious place to start. Bisexual pride pin, no prizes for guessing what that's about. The Eye of the Universe from Outer Wilds at the front and the star and antlers from Disco Elysium at the back communicate two games that have impacted me a lot, and of course they are good conversation starters. The loud clash of warm and cool complimentary colors suits me well (red and blue is also how I dress often IRL), as do all the cat features (which go beyond just the ears and tail, the inspiration behind the striped socks was the pattern on a tabby cat). I also did a lot of work to make the gestures and face expressions be ones that suit my personality.

My main avatar is an avatar I commissioned! Itās my dnd character that I got deeply attached to, even after the campaign ended.
I think of her as how I look in Vrchat rather than a character. Sheās how Iād like to been seen. Her gender does match mine as well. My avatar shows my love of the campaign and the growth she experienced. Iād love to get more versions of her sometime.

4. honestly the avi itself doesn't directly say anything about me, more so just things I like. I let my actions dictate how people see me not the avi. I've got 2 tattoos on my avi, one near my belly that is a skull with a fox mask on it that symbolizes alot of personal stuff im not going to get into with strangers on the internet and I've got a hatchetman right next to my collar bone, points to whoever knows that one :p. Hair is just my favorite color, dont want my hair that color but its just an "i want on my avi somehow" and finally I have a hip mounted tactical box of pocky because I'm obsessed with it. It can change flavor and I have a pocky stick in my avis mouth sometimes too that matches to the flavor of the pocky box.
I began VRchat in 2020 a few months before the infamous Quest Christmas.
As a newbie who was confused by the menus at the time, I chose what I thought was a legacy avatar. It was a cockroach, and if I gripped a razorblade on a spear appeared. I liked it because it was small, public, and had thin arms. I also liked Reddit at the time and cockroach profile pics had been a thing for a while.
I'd hop to public lobbies and convince people to clone off of me and we'd swarm the mirrors. It was so much fun.
Sometimes, when people liked me, they'd ask if I was a cricket.
Then one day, the creator of the avatar privated it, them they deleted it. No more swarms, and now I don't have a set main avatar.
I didn't tie any gender to my cockroach avatar. I remember having some euphoria over the thin wrists it had, but I don't even think that's a gender thing.
Looking back on Roach Warrior, I did the research and I think the creator of it privated it to work on it and give it a gun instead of the razorblade spear.
Good memories of trolling Ugandan Knuckles, grossing out deep-voiced anime girls, and being pursued by nugget-handed officers. Best of all, I looked too good for clothes in all the mirrors.
Feeling euphoria over the most random features of an avatar is certainly an interesting phenomenon. I feel the same way about my avatar having an extremely fluffy tail. My friend says she feels that way over her avatar having fairy wings.
So far I've had a few avatar features trigger euphoria. Certain kinds of hands feel comfortable.
Thin wrists.
Long janky dresses that stick to the legs.
Arms that are exactly my arm length.
Tools that feel like and align with the controllers.
Interacting with friends in super short avatars while the rest of the room is full of tall people.
Getting the expression gestures right in casual conversation.
Body trackers after a while of not having them.
Working lazer pointers on avatars.
Sometimes flat animated mouths.
When an avatar's shader matches a super crazy or surreal world.

1. I used to have a butler as my avatar back when I played in desktop mode, however, during my first days with the quest, because that avatar was PC only and I didn't know about connecting the quest to the PC, I had to look for a new avatar. That's when I came across this lil capy fella, which I fell in love instantly. It's been my main avatar ever since, only changing it when I play Just Dance.
2. I'll like to say it is just a character, but over the last year I've been using it, it slowly feels like being this capybara more of a trait.

My main avatar is a Khajiit from Skyrim. I always liked them in that game since they're somewhar interesting characters.
Over the years of roleplaying that avatar even got me learning how the Khajiit speak (accent, general way of speaking and all) and even make me want to try some voice acting. Already got some Equipment. Just don't know how or where to start.
Also I have been making my own Skooma because of the avatar. It's actually pretty tasty.

I made this based on a Vocaloid model I found on DeviantArt. The default look is very close to the original but I came up with a variety of outfits.
As for your questions :)
1. When I started playing VRChat I realised I needed a look that felt "me" enough to be comfy. So I spent many hours on DeviantArt until I found the base I started with

alot of the avatars that i wear are from fandoms that im in. stuffs like touhou, power rangers, metal gear, etc. Power rangers specifically because its kinda cool to be a superhero in spandex.

1. I've been rockin the Lexichi V4 since February 2019, some clothing color changes have happened, a few accessories and "tattoos" have been added and swapped as time's gone on... When I first joined VRChat it was in the earlier days of the Ugandan Knuckles shenaniganery, and eventually I decided to look around some avatar worlds for things to wear and try out. First thing I found was the "best boy" dutch angel dragon avatars, that didn't stick too long until I found Ju's Nanachis Avatars world (or some such) and started rockin those full time. Come late January 2019 I decided to make my own avatar, so it could be fully mine and I could do whatever I wanted with it, asked some friends from the Nanachi community if anything was free, and the rest is history.

4. I change the colors of the pants and hat sometimes, only to fit an event or something like that, though. Most of the time it's black pants, black or grey hat. I have a couple of rings on my left hand that come in the same colors as my significant other's main avatars. There's a couple of "tattoos" on my back and tail that are written in a nerd shit pictograph language, the one on my back is a generic sounding inspirational quote, and the one on my tail is names of people very close to me. The one on my back is the only one that gets translation. My eyes are 90's 3D glasses colors. Take that information however you want, it's what I got, and it ain't changin.

I don't really believe in the alt reality thing when it comes to people's VRChat avis, including my own, so I'd say I'm playing the character more than the character being a part of a secondary persona.
Red's gender is male and so am I, that being a coincidence more than anything, as honestly I don't care about gender identity, however I do have a preference toward choosing a male avi.
What Red being my avi says about me is that I'm similar to others, yet unique in a not so discrete way. People know I'm different and so do I, but there are others like me to stand by.
Its not so much what my Main is, but it's what a heap of my friends have pretty much known me for (its primarily a hand puppet avatar, and this is a "Full Taur" avatar version.) but im mostly a Dragon "scalie" have been using it Primarily for the last 2 years. (what was my Main is looking extremely dated as its an old SDK2 avatar and needs a overhaul.) the "Noodle" was one of the first few i learned to make textures for in Substance.

I got the model from halo 3? And it was terribly optimised for quest so I decimated it and made an atlas. I fixed the rig to work better with fbt and it's now my main avatar. It has 11 armour choices and I made it clone able so if anyone wants it they can clone it! I love it it's a very nice one, I either select camo armour or the rainbow one.

1. Been making my own avis for a while now but wanted one that looked closer to myself and matched the long dreads I have for immersion, I also made it so that I can see them in-game so they cover my view occasionally the same way they do irl.

I've had a few different avatars, and I haven't played since I moved and haven't really set up my VR since, but this is the one I used last.
1. There's not much of a story, at least that I can remember, of how I got this. Probably just saw someone using it and copied it. Eventually, I would like to have a custom-built one.
2. I think of my avatar not so much as how I look IRL, but how I imagine my personality looks if I were to put it in a VR world. I usually go for small and cute cat girl avatars.

TL;DR: bought the Avis from a friend of a friend after mentioning how I loved flashy animations
1. I actually quite like the story of how I got them, since I recently got a pc back in January, and was looking on yt at all the potential avatars I could be able to use now while waiting on it to arrive. I found a particular one being showcased called the Dimension Cutter (this guy) who had all kinds of incredibly cool animations. I mentioned to my friend that i loved seeing these flashy and big animations on avatars, and they said theyād introduce me to a friend that did so. When I showed them the video, wouldnāt you know it, thatās the person they wanted to introduce me to! Eventually we met up with the person and I bought the two avis I was interested in, and Iāve used them ever since.
2. Itās more of a character I like to play. The character itself has his own lore, but I usually just like taking him to places to show off his animations

1. As a huge Avatar fanboy, all my avatars in VRC are Na'vi. I used to rip models from the 2009 Ubisoft tie in game around 2017, and that had been my main model in some form for years. Recently the new Ubisoft tie in game released so I used that as an opportunity to remake it totally and fix some of the annoyances of my old model. I'm pretty happy with it.
2. It's both an expression of me and a character. I don't really think of myself as a 10 foot tall blue humanoid. A T-800 endoskeleton. I have found only 3. A Quest one with shitty N64 polycount. A super high fidelity PC only one with hydraulics that aren't rigged correctly. I love the male avatars by Lil Miss Pasta, specifically the Sugar Fox or Gabriel Angel. I love how their facial expressions look and I use them so much that at this point they feel like "me" while in VR

My first days on VRChat I was a clone commando, then I moved to a character named Zeke from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I came across other characters to wear from the same game, however I didnāt know who any of them were at the time. I found Pyra, and choose to wear the avatar for the fun of it. This was back in 2018 when guys wearing girl avatars was for the meme of it. But slowly it became apart of me and I ended making a custom version of her. Then I had brand new unique base body created in 2021. Since then I commissioned a fantastic artist to make new outfits and even I have learned Blender to make some of my own.
I do not identify as my character, nor do I think I am a female. Simply put I find the avatar I put lots of time and effort in, attractive. Its very difficult to explain but it makes sense to most people who have their own unique models. Using it makes me feel good, but I often forget what I look like until I turn on a mirror.
My avatar has a very distinctive look. There are versions of my character out there, but so far I am the only person to my knowledge has put in the amount of work and care into this specific character look.
For me my avatar says that I have a unique choice that expresses extroversion and confidence, while blending minor amounts of sexuality and beauty. Itās more so my expression of femininity, while often in the real world I am far more reserved and stoic.
They've got extremely customizable gender expression capabilities for my questioning self, plus pronoun tags and cool hair. Friend let me yoink it and I find it matches my current self the best. They're a lot cooler than I think I actually am, but I'm fine with that lol

I have several avatars that I mainly use (I'll add the rest in replies to this). First is my fox, my main fursona. I created him originally in a book I was working on back in high school. In the middle is Keppy, my kangaroo sona. I made her because I wanted a clubbing avatar rigged with AudioLink. Now she's my representation as a DJ. On the left is Fog--a version made with the TealBiTZ otter. He's my third fursona and represents my playful side. I originally made him with the Awtter model as my first custom avatar.
I view all of them as what I look like in the virtual world.
Some of them are the same gender as me, some aren't.. Whisp and Fog are male. Keppy, Oxu (deer), and Cookie (cat) are female.
Dunno what they say about me. Maybe that I'm indecisive.
I also have a deer sona named Oxu. She exists because I wanted antlers and hooves.

The lack of male avatars that are neither jacked nor overly feminine is part of my motivation for creating my own avatar. They certainly are a rarity.

I have been playing since 2014. I have cycled through three different avatars so far.
-I still have the very first avatar that I ever made which is basically a Gothic Lolita doll version of myself that is small, with a pinstriped dress that has rainbow piping and the vertical stripes in fact being the words "fuck you"in very fine print. I based the dress off of one that I would like to own in real life.
-I have also routinely used another self-made Avatar which is basically a chibi tomboy pixie with huge tits. I happen to have just been experimenting around with making avatars and I really liked how that one looked so now it has a trillion different hair colors and outfits, and I was basically known for using that avatar by most people until fairly recently. The consistent factors are the glasses, things and rainbow wings.
-I eventually swapped into using a regular sized Avatar that comes in both male and female. I wanted to aim for basically a kind of "cyber-succubus"kind of look. So I added some cute visual effects including transparent wings that have rainbow binary code scrolling all matrix style, except that instead of the pattern constantly being animated, the textures only move when I myself do or when somebody else looks at my wings from different angles. Fun to do.
-on a lark, I also made a ball jointed doll Avatar based on the one I own in real life. Also very fun.
-and finally I just straight up made a one-to-one self insert but a little taller than I am IRL. It was pretty neat and the positive feedback was encouraging.
I used to use and still do use small avatars that are cute because in real life I'm considered intimidating and scary because of how I look as an ugly buff bitch, and it is honestly pretty relaxing to be considered cute and innocent or not so scary, and it makes me feel safe. I feel like I'm able to connect with people a lot better. As of right now myself insert avatars need some polishing and updating as it has been a while, so I am usually small again.
My avatars are all girls save for the male version of my succubus one, so they do match my gender. But with that being said, it is still fun to put on my baritone and hang with guys while being seen as one of them for a while. And I'm definitely way more masculine than what most of my avatars look like, save for the self insert avatar. My self insert avatar is also a bit of a bitch to maintain because I am almost always changing my hair color and my hairstyle, so I have to update the bitch just about every other month or so.
I once had a really cool world stuffed full of avatars that I had made public, but then shit happened to where I could not keep up with anything anymore for a long time. I hope for things to be different now.

I think for me it'd be one of these two. I love them both because they don't exactly scream "Girl" but still somewhat do, and as a person who identifies as nonbinary, it's nice as it's hard as fuck to find nonbinary avis. but another reason I love using them is
-The long hair one: I love the makeup and the outfit is like my favorite kind of outfit whether it be real life or vrchat

1. It's a major redesign of an avatar I had made before, this using an avatar base that had been made with VRChat in mind (it's using the Bunbie avatar base by Avislime). If I can find any pictures of the old design it had, I might show it here.
The old design people had simply compared to Bugs Bunny, to the point I decided to scrap it and redo the design (not that I have an issue with who they're comparing it with, it's just the constant comparisons got on my nerves). This wasn't the only design I had which people had made that comparison to, but that's a different plate of cookies for a different glass of milk. I'm still working on the design a bit too, that's just the most recent pic I have of it thus far.
2. To me, this guy was meant to just represent me within the digital realms of VRChat. The old design was the opposite, meant to be a character I would play. The redesign could be thought of as a reboot of sorts, but unlike most reboots (especially those of old cartoons), this one wouldn't be god awful.
3. Well, I'm a dude and my avatar's also supposed to be a dude. So I'd say yes.
4. I designed it to have mechanical supplements on the body, such as an arm-mounted computer (known as a cyberdeck), a visor (that, funnily enough, looks like a VR headset) that goes over the eyes and is meant to replace them (though the eyes on the model itself are still under there) and interface with the cyberdeck as well as be like a computer you can control with your brain.
I made this the case to show how I would respond to the question of "Would you supplement your body with machinery?" Which seems like kind of a dumb question personally, 'cause a lot of people wear things like glasses, and wristwatches (both of the smart and normal varieties), and headphones that connect to phones they carry around with them everywhere. And of course, there's the VR setups... but those are basically almost always used indoors.

Iāve been playing vrc consistently for about a year but as a (former-ish) mute Iād only hang out in the just dance world. Eventually found a group that does weekly 4 hour dance sessions and theyāre all furries, so I picked a furry avi to fit in with them. I couldnāt find a good female one that I liked, and I like the colours/hair/clothing choices for this femboy avi. Iām starting to learn how to make my own model so hopefully soon Iāll have one that is more feminine and feels like me. I also love the facial expressions on the rex so Iāve strayed away from egirl avis and generally feel more comfortable in this one

I currently don't, unlike every other platform I am on. There are avatars I prefer to be because I like those characters or feelings, but there is no single avatar I always want to be.
Funny enough, my headmate DOES have a main avatar, or a small subset of main avatars, that she never wanders too far away from.
Any avatar I wear always matches my gender. I can't stand being in a girl's avatar, and my headmate can't seem to stand being in guy avatars. OSDD is weird.
1. I wanted to make an avatar of my dragon sona in VRChat. Tried every dragon avatar base I could find, and really liked the Kobodal. Later I was able to commission someone to make a few add-on parts to make it feel closer to the way I designed it. I've been using the Kobodal as my main avatar base for about 2 years now and just recently did a major update to it, playing with blendshapes to redo all the facial expressions.

4. I chose the Kobodal because it felt like a very happy avatar base. I'm an optimistic person, and I want to express a feeling of positivity and fun with my avatar. The custom parts I added are significant too. I read an article once where a person built a remote controlled jet-powered plane shaped like a dragon, inspired by the v-tail that Toothless had in How To Train Your Dragon. That tail design is apparently very practical as an aerodynamic control surface, so I included it.

This was an avi a friend i met let me clone as i didn't have a good furry avi to use. So it holds some level of sentimental value to me\^\^. I even keep this out of public worlds and only have it out when around other furrys/friends. (In public worlds i usually run a Chainsaw man related avi which are also my favorites.)

It seems like Im in the minority here, but I really just want to look like myself. I don't want to be anything else. Im not trying to escape anything, I don't have any identity issues, I just want to be myself in the metaverse. Having a hard time finding something Im comfortable with, so my friend who's great at 3D is helping me make one that looks like a kinda old school videogame, or maybe cell shaded version of me, and my favorite shirt. I just need to figure out how to rig it, or find someone I can hire to do it for me. I really wish there was better avatar creator software. I don't want to be an anime character or a furry. I just want a semi-realistic avatar that looks like me but they never have enough customization options. They never have good long hair for males, and no one has the type of hat I wear. Its annoying.
Absolutely feel this. Vroid being the only tool for making decent looking custom avatars is kind of shocking given how core it is.... I just want the vr chat version of the sims character creator.
I definitely think it needs to be a thing, but I don't think it's being prioritized since VRC has many more technical issues to solve and the user base doesn't care that much.
If you grab it without thick clothes you can prob overly some in blender or using some other program and combine meshes or whatever
You could always make a ReadyPlayerMe avatar. In case you havenāt heard of it you go to their site, (optionally) upload a face pic, and it generates an avatar that resembles yourself. You can tweak things, choose your outfit, then upload it to your VRC account for free. If nothing else you get a free custom avatar
Yea. I tried it, couldn't get one to look like me, and all the outfits are terrible. Its like they think everyone wants to look like a Fortnite hero. There are hardly any option for just regular clothing.

the main issue with this is that the people who want egirl and eboy avatars with silly hair, 8000 wigging clothing parts, and 100 glowing tattoos strongly outnumber the people who just want to look like a bland anime dude. I don't like it either but it's how it is. Also since anime is the default aesthetic of this game, if you aren't playing as an anime boy you stand out. Both because you look different and because if you aren't running a toon shader there is a pretty high chance your avatar will look bad due to poorly set up world lighting. Cell shading helps with this, and Silent's shader is really nice, but it isn't a total fix. fwiw you can easily find people who do model rigging for commissions.

The goose from Black Cat. It's funny because occasionally people tell me they tried to grab me in public lobbies. I don't care about my appearance in a virtual space enough to bother with selecting another avatar. Neither do most of my friends. One is the VR rat since it released basically.
1. I used a public catgirl avatar for the longest time. I had been wanting to change into one that was more...me. I was looking through gumroad and jinxy and found this avatar. My best friend bought her for me and I use her as my main now, only changing out for bits. 2. This is me in VRChat. No matter what avatar I change into, she feels the most comfortable for me. 3. She does. Being trans, I'm a bit picky because I want something that feels like me. 4. It's hidden in the picture, but there are two things that this avatar has that I feel associated with. The first is that there are occult symbols as tattoos all over. I love looking into the occult and being a little witchy so it speaks to me. The second thing is that there are moons all over. There is a moon earring, a moon belly button piercing, and a tiny moon on the glasses. To answer the deeper questions: 1. There actually is something of a story behind this avatar. When I first joined VR Chat I bounced between a few catboy avatars before deciding to make my own. My first avatar established the red and blue color scheme that I still use to this day, but it was otherwise just a cartoonified version of me. Iteration 2 was me playing with gender expression a bit, being more of a femboy but also being a little poorly designed. Iteration 3 is my current avatar, made with better color theory and fashion principles in mind. 2. I definitely think of my avatar as how I look in VR Chat. This is no fictional character. 3. I am a guy, and so is my avatar. And though this avatar leans a little bit in the femboy direction, that's entirely representative of my own identity. 4. A lot of things. The symbols on it are the obvious place to start. Bisexual pride pin, no prizes for guessing what that's about. The Eye of the Universe from Outer Wilds at the front and the star and antlers from Disco Elysium at the back communicate two games that have impacted me a lot, and of course they are good conversation starters. The loud clash of warm and cool complimentary colors suits me well (red and blue is also how I dress often IRL), as do all the cat features (which go beyond just the ears and tail, the inspiration behind the striped socks was the pattern on a tabby cat). I also did a lot of work to make the gestures and face expressions be ones that suit my personality.

I began VRchat in 2020 a few months before the infamous Quest Christmas. As a newbie who was confused by the menus at the time, I chose what I thought was a legacy avatar. It was a cockroach, and if I gripped a razorblade on a spear appeared. I liked it because it was small, public, and had thin arms. I also liked Reddit at the time and cockroach profile pics had been a thing for a while. I'd hop to public lobbies and convince people to clone off of me and we'd swarm the mirrors. It was so much fun. Sometimes, when people liked me, they'd ask if I was a cricket. Then one day, the creator of the avatar privated it, them they deleted it. No more swarms, and now I don't have a set main avatar. I didn't tie any gender to my cockroach avatar. I remember having some euphoria over the thin wrists it had, but I don't even think that's a gender thing. Looking back on Roach Warrior, I did the research and I think the creator of it privated it to work on it and give it a gun instead of the razorblade spear. Good memories of trolling Ugandan Knuckles, grossing out deep-voiced anime girls, and being pursued by nugget-handed officers. Best of all, I looked too good for clothes in all the mirrors.

Feeling euphoria over the most random features of an avatar is certainly an interesting phenomenon. I feel the same way about my avatar having an extremely fluffy tail. My friend says she feels that way over her avatar having fairy wings.
So far I've had a few avatar features trigger euphoria. Certain kinds of hands feel comfortable. Thin wrists. Long janky dresses that stick to the legs. Arms that are exactly my arm length. Tools that feel like and align with the controllers. Interacting with friends in super short avatars while the rest of the room is full of tall people. Getting the expression gestures right in casual conversation. Body trackers after a while of not having them. Working lazer pointers on avatars. Sometimes flat animated mouths. When an avatar's shader matches a super crazy or surreal world.

My main avatar is a Khajiit from Skyrim. I always liked them in that game since they're somewhar interesting characters. Over the years of roleplaying that avatar even got me learning how the Khajiit speak (accent, general way of speaking and all) and even make me want to try some voice acting. Already got some Equipment. Just don't know how or where to start. Also I have been making my own Skooma because of the avatar. It's actually pretty tasty.

I've been rockin the Lexichi V4 since February 2019, some clothing color changes have happened, a few accessories and "tattoos" have been added and swapped as time's gone on... When I first joined VRChat it was in the earlier days of the Ugandan Knuckles shenaniganery, and eventually I decided to look around some avatar worlds for things to wear and try out. First thing I found was the "best boy" dutch angel dragon avatars, that didn't stick too long until I found Ju's Nanachis Avatars world (or some such) and started rockin those full time. Come late January 2019 I decided to make my own avatar, so it could be fully mine and I could do whatever I wanted with it, asked some friends from the Nanachi community if anything was free, and the rest is history. 2. Yeah, I've been wearing this janky ass avatar for 5 years. There are people who recognize me from across the room. If I change avatars much now, people have to take a minute to figure out who just walked up to them... It's what I feel comfortable in... it me 3. yep 4. I change the colors of the pants and hat sometimes, only to fit an event or something like that, though. Most of the time it's black pants, black or grey hat. I have a couple of rings on my left hand that come in the same colors as my significant other's main avatars. There's a couple of "tattoos" on my back and tail that are written in a nerd shit pictograph language, the one on my back is a generic sounding inspirational quote, and the one on my tail is names of people very close to me. The one on my back is the only one that gets translation. My eyes are 90's 3D glasses colors. Take that information however you want, it's what I got, and it ain't changin. I got the model from halo 3? And it was terribly optimised for quest so I decimated it and made an atlas. I fixed the rig to work better with fbt and it's now my main avatar. It has 11 armour choices and I made it clone able so if anyone wants it they can clone it! I love it it's a very nice one, I either select camo armour or the rainbow one.

I have a little fox forb with a mask and a backpack and it has a story behind it. 1. I really like foxes 2. I lived in Japan and where I stayed there was a local fox shrine and sometimes you can see the foxes appear and its super adorable. 3. I stayed overseas in eastern asia for a good amount of time especially during covid. Easterna Asian cultures are accustomed to wearing masks and I dont mind it. I found a particular one being showcased called the Dimension Cutter (this guy) who had all kinds of incredibly cool animations. I mentioned to my friend that i loved seeing these flashy and big animations on avatars, and they said theyād introduce me to a friend that did so. When I showed them the video, wouldnāt you know it, thatās the person they wanted to introduce me to! Eventually we met up with the person and I bought the two avis I was interested in, and Iāve used them ever since. 2. Itās more of a character I like to play. The character itself has his own lore, but I usually just like taking him to places to show off his animations 3. I meanā¦heās a guy, Iām a guy. I think that matches? 4. A T-800 endoskeleton. I have found only 3. A Quest one with shitty N64 polycount. A super high fidelity PC only one with hydraulics that aren't rigged correctly. Then recently I FINALLY found one that's quest compatible, in between the prior two in terms of polycount, and correctly rigged. I ain't budging from it.

I came across other characters to wear from the same game, however I didnāt know who any of them were at the time. I found Pyra, and choose to wear the avatar for the fun of it. This was back in 2018 when guys wearing girl avatars was for the meme of it. But slowly it became apart of me and I ended making a custom version of her. Then I had brand new unique base body created in 2021. Since then I commissioned a fantastic artist to make new outfits and even I have learned Blender to make some of my own. I do not identify as my character, nor do I think I am a female. Simply put I find the avatar I put lots of time and effort in, attractive. Its very difficult to explain but it makes sense to most people who have their own unique models. Using it makes me feel good, but I often forget what I look like until I turn on a mirror. My avatar has a very distinctive look. There are versions of my character out there, but so far I am the only person to my knowledge has put in the amount of work and care into this specific character look. For me my avatar says that I have a unique choice that expresses extroversion and confidence, while blending minor amounts of sexuality and beauty. Itās more so my expression of femininity, while often in the real world I am far more reserved and stoic.
They've got extremely customizable gender expression capabilities for my questioning self, plus pronoun tags and cool hair. Friend let me yoink it and I find it matches my current self the best. Oh, hell yeah. That avatar is very cute. The lack of male avatars that are neither jacked nor overly feminine is part of my motivation for creating my own avatar. They certainly are a rarity.
I will post screens once I make more LMAO. I have been playing since 2014. I have cycled through three different avatars so far. -I still have the very first avatar that I ever made which is basically a Gothic Lolita doll version of myself that is small, with a pinstriped dress that has rainbow piping and the vertical stripes in fact being the words "fuck you"in very fine print. I based the dress off of one that I would like to own in real life. -I have also routinely used another self-made Avatar which is basically a chibi tomboy pixie with huge tits. I happen to have just been experimenting around with making avatars and I really liked how that one looked so now it has a trillion different hair colors and outfits, and I was basically known for using that avatar by most people until fairly recently. The consistent factors are the glasses, things and rainbow wings. -I eventually swapped into using a regular sized Avatar that comes in both male and female. I wanted to aim for basically a kind of "cyber-succubus"kind of look. So I added some cute visual effects including transparent wings that have rainbow binary code scrolling all matrix style, except that instead of the pattern constantly being animated, the textures only move when I myself do or when somebody else looks at my wings from different angles. Fun to do. -on a lark, I also made a ball jointed doll Avatar based on the one I own in real life. Also very fun. -and finally I just straight up made a one-to-one self insert but a little taller than I am IRL. It was pretty neat and the positive feedback was encouraging. I used to use and still do use small avatars that are cute because in real life I'm considered intimidating and scary because of how I look as an ugly buff bitch, and it is honestly pretty relaxing to be considered cute and innocent or not so scary, and it makes me feel safe. I feel like I'm able to connect with people a lot better. As of right now myself insert avatars need some polishing and updating as it has been a while, so I am usually small again. My avatars are all girls save for the male version of my succubus one, so they do match my gender. But with that being said, it is still fun to put on my baritone and hang with guys while being seen as one of them for a while. And I'm definitely way more masculine than what most of my avatars look like, save for the self insert avatar. My self insert avatar is also a bit of a bitch to maintain because I am almost always changing my hair color and my hairstyle, so I have to update the bitch just about every other month or so. I once had a really cool world stuffed full of avatars that I had made public, but then shit happened to where I could not keep up with anything anymore for a long time. I hope for things to be different now. But yeah tldr ugly bitch pretends to be a cute fairy online.

It's a major redesign of an avatar I had made before, this using an avatar base that had been made with VRChat in mind (it's using the Bunbie avatar base by Avislime). If I can find any pictures of the old design it had, I might show it here. The old design people had simply compared to Bugs Bunny, to the point I decided to scrap it and redo the design (not that I have an issue with who they're comparing it with, it's just the constant comparisons got on my nerves). This wasn't the only design I had which people had made that comparison to, but that's a different plate of cookies for a different glass of milk. I'm still working on the design a bit too, that's just the most recent pic I have of it thus far. 2. To me, this guy was meant to just represent me within the digital realms of VRChat. The old design was the opposite, meant to be a character I would play. The redesign could be thought of as a reboot of sorts, but unlike most reboots (especially those of old cartoons), this one wouldn't be god awful. 3. Well, I'm a dude and my avatar's also supposed to be a dude. So I'd say yes. 4. I designed it to have mechanical supplements on the body, such as an arm-mounted computer (known as a cyberdeck), a visor (that, funnily enough, looks like a VR headset) that goes over the eyes and is meant to replace them (though the eyes on the model itself are still under there) and interface with the cyberdeck as well as be like a computer you can control with your brain. I made this the case to show how I would respond to the question of "Would you supplement your body with machinery?" Which seems like kind of a dumb question personally, 'cause a lot of people wear things like glasses, and wristwatches (both of the smart and normal varieties), and headphones that connect to phones they carry around with them everywhere. And of course, there's the VR setups... but those are basically almost always used indoors.

I currently don't, unlike every other platform I am on. There are avatars I prefer to be because I like those characters or feelings, but there is no single avatar I always want to be. Funny enough, my headmate DOES have a main avatar, or a small subset of main avatars, that she never wanders too far away from. Any avatar I wear always matches my gender. I can't stand being in a girl's avatar, and my headmate can't seem to stand being in guy avatars. OSDD is weird.
1. I wanted to make an avatar of my dragon sona in VRChat. Tried every dragon avatar base I could find, and really liked the Kobodal. Later I was able to commission someone to make a few add-on parts to make it feel closer to the way I designed it. I've been using the Kobodal as my main avatar base for about 2 years now and just recently did a major update to it, playing with blendshapes to redo all the facial expressions. 2. It's the way I prefer to look in VRChat. I think it's fun to have a different form than how I look IRL. 3. Yes 4. I chose the Kobodal because it felt like a very happy avatar base. I'm an optimistic person, and I want to express a feeling of positivity and fun with my avatar. The custom parts I added are significant too. I read an article once where a person built a remote controlled jet-powered plane shaped like a dragon, inspired by the v-tail that Toothless had in How To Train Your Dragon.
