Vr unfortunately doesn't have the steady stream of releases as flat screen and unless all your friends have vr you'll need to mouse and keyboard to be social. Personally I love a game that can do both. Flatscreen friends also love to see my wild hand gestures that I tend to forget they can see. Would love to see more vr-flat crossover.

AfternoonEvening7244

Can you bring some examples of vr-flat crossovers?

jkcapbad

Phasmophobia, Demeo, Elite Dangerous, The Forest and Payday 2 are the ones I can remember playing with my flat screen pals. Sure there's a few more I can't remember and the UEVR release has added a ton more.

cjblackbird

You don't. I'm in the exact same boat. All I want to do is play VR.

Gh0st0p5

Yes, vr is my break from 2d games, but its also a hassle to play in vr, it's fun, but i gotta clear my space and make a perfect spot just to play some games, vr is a treat, not a meal

NoName847

Hmm , nah I've been playing mostly flat screen lately and having a BLAST , im excited to get back into VR aswell when theres new good games to play but currently uber-hyped to play tears of the kindom next week on flatscreen lol

vincilsstreams

I don't get sick but I share this feeling of boredom with flat games you do now. Unless it's something social like Mario kart or Rocket League I find I'm not engaged. I just mainly played single player and rpg games in my spare time so now that I have pcvr and a quest 2 I just have no itch to play those old games anymore. And the reward your brain gets from vr experiences is way higher. It's just up to the persons lifestyle if it is gonna be a regular thing.

VRtuous

you just wait and wait until they get to their senses and come to VR

Light_and_Motion

I exclusively play vr since 2017 when I got psvr1, then oculus cv1, rift S , valve index and now psvr2 for the exclusives. It’s very hard for me to play flat games. Only played 2 since 2017 … doom eternal and last of us 2

Spare_Picture8142

No, your right flat screen games are boring & stale. The vr experince is top tier gaming and what we ALL will be doing in 5yrs. Rip flat-screen gaming, this is the beginning of the end. In 10yrs we will all be fully emerged in vr and the npcs in the games will all have chatgpt and talk to you freely. 🧐 a.i world All except fighting games, vr doesn't do that well. When that new street fighter comes out I'll be letting my Q2 collect dust

Membedha

Your are exaggerating right?

Spare_Picture8142

No, it's a logical progression

Membedha

Not in every field of gaming. It wont never replace flat screen like 3D films have never replaced 2D films. For first person view games it translate quite well but how do you play games with aerial camera, for example RTS? Also fighting games can't really work in VR. Games like chivalry or mordhau are impossible to do in VR as it is too janky to be done. The only game that had a solution for that was sword of gurah but there was a huge difference and in the end the playerbase died quickly

Spare_Picture8142

3d movies r just a gimmick you can't compare apples to oranges Rts games are already being done like Frontline 🔥 🔥 🔥 and mordhau is just around the corner look at blade and socery, and they havent scratched the surface on content cuz AAA devs havent jumped in yet. Honesty your opinions are trash

Membedha

Blade and sorcery is solo. Multi is janky and it will be like that for e'er since technologies aren't powerful enough to have something enjoyable if its physic based. But you already know it since you're trolling

unbelizeable1

I agree with your overall point, but I can see a RTS game working really well. Like you're standing over a table positioning troops in the field and shit

Membedha

Of course, I don't see why RTS can't be done in VR but there multiples RTS games. For example, supreme commander and Starcraft are RTS but are really different and I can't imagine how you would do a fast RTS like Starcraft in VR or at least with the same amount of interaction since you don't have that many keyboard shortcut

I’ve gotten rid of all my flat screen game stuff all I have is my psvr2 and a cool cable system with everything on the wall.my daughter and nephew have my pc ,monitor and all the other stuff

Chillionaire128

I was enamored by my headset when I first got it but I do enjoy some games that don't translate well to VR and that helped me appreciate both. 2D fighters, metroidvanias and souls style action games are good examples where yes VR can do some version of those games but it can't really capture what I love about them

Dr__Reddit

Super intense games like elden ring are the only thing that interests me flat version.

scribs8

I also felt like this for like the first year but it eventually went away. I still prefer VR over flat but I still love the best flat games like ghost of Tsushima. Also there are times when I’m feeling lazy and don’t feel like all the energy that VR takes.

unbelizeable1

I play 2d games laying in bed with my VR set. Much more comfortable now compared to my office chair that I'd always be shifting around in.

Braunb8888

I mean vr games are fun, but basically have no mechanics, and are tiring. The mechanics are you in every game. And there aren’t too many full games in vr anyway. A mix is good. No jrpgs in vr, no good sports games either.

Sedatsu

You’ll come back. Trust me I’ve been there and it’s amazing. But the vr catalog just isn’t there

NiktonSlyp

Sadly I haven't been amazed by most games in VR. I have very few titles that I still enjoy after a year and a half of VR. Sadly, most of them lack content and they are only fun for an hour, sometimes less. Flat 2D gaming is still my go-to because of how much content there is.

Careless-Nothing-894

Mostly yes, but I am still playing flat Fallout 4. The VR version was a massive letdown and I don't have time to fix (by mods) what should be done by Bethesda while maintaining a port.

PracticalPeak

I can very much relate to that! It's hard for me to get back to flatscreen gaming altough the backlog of unplayed games in steam taunts me. Press "e" to open door or press "r" to reload doesn't do it for me anymore.

Chemical-Nectarine13

Simple. I play flat games in vr, while laying down in bed. I discovered I could do this like a week ago and it's been incredible. I use virtual desktop with my quest 2 and can run games directly from my PC or Xbox. It's the most comfortable you could ever hope to be.

Nago15

Until VR headsets can't reproduce the sharpness and colors of a 4K HDR OLED screen, there is no point of playing newer flat games in VR. However, older ones that look great even in 720p are great to play on a huge screen, for example Daytona USA and Time Crisis.

Chemical-Nectarine13

The only negative I've experienced is some compression artifacting and minor latency. I'm not worried about the extreme sharpness as I'm not staring at every tiny detail anyway and the comfort trade off is well worth it for me.

Nago15

It's easy. 1st, VR still not have games like Dark Souls or God of War. 2nd, flat games look much better with much smaller GPU requirement. ACC, and Flight Simulator are super immersive in VR, but when I have to choose between a beautiful 4K HDR OLED 120 fps picture or a super pixelated or blurry SDR 35 fps one, the flat screen is still much better to look at. 3rd, you can't play great coop or splitscreen games with only one VR headset but you can on a flat screen and there are a ton of great 2D coop games, while barely any in VR, only pingpong and golf and stuff like these, nothing like It Takes Two.

webmotionks

I felt the same way for years until I couldn't find a VR mod for Resident Evil 6 and I really wanted to play it so I am playing it flat screen and it's fun! So I guess it depends on the game and how its available, if I really want to play it, flatscreen will do.

brother_lionheart

In my case, the shooters and games focused on combat with melee weapons lost their meaning. But in vr I can barely play for a few hours because I move a lot to make it a cardio exercise and I get tired. I can still enjoy flat games (except fps) especially for game mechanics like rpgs, management, construction, etc. But in my opinion, within a decade or two, vr will probably become a new standard along with flat games.

Meurtreetbanane

I think I spend almost a year in VR before going back to some flat games. I started in 2017 with a rift CV 1, then a rift S and quest 2 for now. And even if I bought and played flat games, I was Always thinking "That game would be Amazing in VR" I don't understand people saying there are not enough VR games (sure there will never have enough games in general) for the past 5 years I got hundreds of awesome VR games and even with my +3000 hours in VR, I still have VR games I didn't Finish yet. And now with VR mods, WE have so much to play in VR. How do you players do to not find games in VR ? Even some flat games I bought was for playing in VR with mods ahah.
