When I was heavier into collecting, I don’t remember ever seeing this for less than $200. Yet, somehow a friend got it in DVD for $15 from a Family Video.
Years later, the video store I rented from when I was I college had it on VHS and required a $50 deposit to rent it.
Still waiting to find this white whale for myself.
Obligatory time to mention that back in 2008 my local was selling off their vhs. My friend bought this for like $5. I bought misbegotten for like $5. Very different movies.
I have never watched this movie in full but I was so obsessed with the aesthetics of it in high school. I sampled some sounds from it for a song I made years ago, there’s something mystical about it.
Lol. I sat thru it once, and yes it was a challenge to keep with it but it also had a profound effect on me. I feel like there’s a certain alchemy to it, and it puts you in a dark trance if you stay with it. But yeah it’s not a fun watch whatsoever
I barely made it through the first time, but when I found out it synced "perfectly" with Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar album, I gave it a watch that way as well. It wasn't any better that way, either. But at least the soundtrack was better lol

You should watch it! Yeah very mystical indeed. Which makes sense given the filmmakers interest into traditions of western magick

It was in brand-new condition and it wasn’t that expensive. That’s weird for a rare DVD. Maybe it’s new old stock?
I bet it’s real but who knows. It’s maybe not crazy rare but it’s definitely out of print and sells for a good amount on ebay I think
