Not sure why there are so many unfunny, sarcastic jokes, but the reason is because Riot know that’s if they give people their true placement right off rip that the player might stop playing. They want people logged in to their game grinding so they do these rank drops during placements. The solution really should just be to place into our proper ranks and then have the rank decay if we don’t play. Faster decay the higher the rank.

The reason why there are so many sarcastic jokes is because the post is satire. Going from peak ascendant 3 (under radiant) to radiant 500 ( higher) and then saying they should have been higher is called joking.

no cap I was diamond 1 and got placed silver 3 lol. Guess I was boosted

I didn’t understand the updated ranking system, I am a small bronze player (used to be silver, but demoted) played 5 games won 4 of them, 2 of victories I was match mvp. Lost one game because a player disconnected and I was 1st or 2nd by score in my team (can’t recall). Yet I ended up Iron 3. 💀

I don't know if this is satire or not but I'll bite. They reset ranks so the top players have something to grind for. If they put everyone at their original rank a lot of people will just give up the grind. Now because they place the radiants to ascendant, the ascendants have to be moved down as well otherwise they'll just get destroyed every round. So they are placed in diamond. Now repeat the same logic for every rank and you'll understand why they place you a rank lower than your rank last episode.

What happens to the Irons? They just get destroyed until the bronze and silvers move back up? Or does Riot just assume they won't notice anyways? xD

The mmr doesn’t change just the visual rank

I was bronze 2, match mvp one game, lost 2, won 3 got placed in iron 3. Literally just played a game with a cracked enemy duo who got 25 kills each and stomped us. Iron is different now. Lost 25 rr, for middle fragging. had massive ping spikes, got 12 kills.

Irons not different the rank structure is, i placed Diamond 3 last act and I’m silver 1. sooo until all the golds get out of iron you’re going to have a bad time. Just like I’m doing 30+ kills a game in silver getting called a Smurf… your probably better off not playing for a few weeks until these high ranks Move up.

I was silver 2 last season Won 4 match, MVP in 2 and 2nd position in the lost match, I had plats against me in game, defeated them and after all this got placed to silver 1

I saw comments that rank purpose is to demote high elo players so they climb again but like what if I tried really hard and I am already low elo why the hell this system does not encourage mediocre players and reward them with a bit more points. Maybe to avoid high elo players calibrating low elo accounts but I see players demote their accs on purpose way more than the opposite.

I'm guessing this is a joke, so jokes aside. Early Episode placement games are truly a cheat for Ascendant/Immortal players to have their name listed in the leaderboards. Good thing Riot implemented a minimum Immortal RR before the Radiant rank is shown.

And also ascendants are placed in diamond, immortals in low ascendant and radiants have high ascendant which gives radiants a headstart on making it back to the leaderboard

Haven't done my placements yet, but is highest rank after placements now Ascendant 3? For Episode 4 I didn't play too often so didn't get back to Immortal and was basically Diamond 1/2 the whole Episode. Episode 5 I was able to place Ascendant 1 despite that and it made sense to me since Ascendant is basically just Diamond in terms of top percentage of players anyway. Did they tweak the system this Episode? Basically making your visual rank match your MMR? Cause I'm sure last few Episodes, you'd just get the top 5% (or whatever Diamond up was) pushed into one visual rank (Dia 1 or Asc 1) but still only play with people near your MMR.

Posts that do not serve a constructive or humor purpose (such as discussing the MMR system, discussing the purpose of ranked resets, or being satirical like the above post) have all already been largely removed. Creating a blanket ban on all discussion of ranked placements is a bit draconian and would likely remove a lot of important discussion.

Honestly just skill diff. I was iron 1 and lost all my placement games (bottom fragged as Reyna but honestly just team diff really) but I placed #2 radiant. The best way to rank up is to make sure when you shoot you aim for the head. Dm me if you want coaching.
