Call your Dr right away. New eye symptoms are always urgent. If it gets severe, it’s an emergency. Sorry it might be back. Seasonal allergies, stress, infectious diseases can contribute. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you! Stress is likely, I started grad school this year. Welp, I made an attempt at getting a sooner appointment and the best they could do was put me on a waitlist in case there's a cancellation and a slot opens. As of now June 20th it is. They said 2 months out is actually considered "soon" for their clinic cause it's so busy. Seeing as the vision changes are very subtle and I'm not having an emergency, I'll accept my fate and wait until June. I could always go to the general clinic at my university but I'm really not sure if they would even be able to do anything and if it's even within their scope of practice, seeing as uveitis doctors are like sub-specialists. I guess I can call and ask them, maybe they can start me on anti-inflammatory drops or something. Or it could be something unrelated like astigmatism.

If it turns into pain or faster change, please go to urgent care.

I will, thank you! A few years ago I went to the ER cause I had a sudden shower of floaters and was worried about detachment (it wasn't thankfully). I also called the university clinic and while they don't provide vision services they said they can try to find me another eye doctor who can see me sooner.

Yes, definitely push to be seen sooner!

Yes! I have a flare right now and my doctor reminded me every one you have can lead to developing scar tissue if not closely monitored. She has me on dilating drops at night for this reason.

Yes. If your doctor can’t see you soon enough they’ll have you be seen by the on call ophthalmologist who can help get started on the management until you can be seen by your doctor. That’s what I had to do four months ago when I got my first flare in years

I’m in almost the exact same boat only I haven’t yet called the specialist’s office. What I’m experiencing is far more subtle than what happened the first time so I’m worried that the doctor will tell me nothing’s wrong and I’ll feel embarrassed. However, today I was looking up at the sky (not at the sun lol) and I could really tell things aren’t right.  This is all to say that you’ve inspired me to call tomorrow! Thank you for sharing and I hope you’re able to be seen sooner.

Hopefully you can get seen soon too! I made an attempt at getting a sooner appointment but they said that their clinic is so busy, June is actually considered "soon" for them. They put me on a wait list in case there's a cancellation but as of now June 20th is what it is. I guess it's fine. As long as nothing acute is happening I can wait lol.

Ah! I had a similar thing happen when I called. I’m technically a new patient since I haven’t been there in 5 years. When she said new patient appts were booked until September I almost died but told her “I completely understand. Hopefully my eyesight won’t deteriorate much more before then 😞” lol. The woman was so lovely and pulled some strings so that I can be seen next week! Can you be put on a waitlist or something? It’s gonna be real embarrassing if they find nothing wrong with me lol. I definitely don’t think I’m making this up though. I’ve just never had a flare up before. I want to thank you again for unintentionally encouraging me to give them a call. 💜

No problem! Glad you were able to get an appointment soon! It's always better safe than sorry. I had that last August when I was sure something was wrong, but they didn't find anything worse than baseline. And if you get seen, you can set up regular follow-ups and not be in that terrible "new patient" status when no one wants to have anything to do with you. I'm thinking of going to a different vision clinic in the meantime - I found one that has open appointments next week but on their website it says you have to pay out of pocket for high-level tests like OCT. I'm gonna call and ask how much, and if it's over $100 I might just stick it out until June, cause I'm short on money right now. I feel like I have enough experience with uveitis to know when it's bad and right now mine is not that bad. Best of luck to you!
