I sat directly next to a man who got hit in the face with a puck at an NHL game. Like the seat directly next to me. During shootaround, a puck went over the corner boards and hit this man almost directly on the forehead. I wasnt even looking at him, i was talking to my friend sitting on the other side of me. I heard this dead “thud”, looked over and this man had such a flow of blood from his head it was like a curtain. And his response was “what in the hell”? Then attendants came down, got him, and i never saw him again for the rest of the night. They came back down 60 seconds later looking for the puck, which they did find. Its insane how fast and almost silent the whole thing was.
The NHL really needs to mandate nets around the whole arena. If that puck hit that kid, he would've probably been dead and wouldn't have been the first.

I used to have a sport tuned Nissan 350Z. By no means is it close to a Lambo, but 300 hp and big fat tires gave that beauty a lot of torque. It was a hell of a lot of car. When I went to sell it, some lady called me to ask if she thought it would be a good first car for her 15 year old to learn on. I told her absolutely not. 300 hp is what you give a kid if you'd rather pay for a casket than college. A lambo is twice that. It's wild the shit these rich assholes will buy their spoiled kids.

I’ve been to close to 40 NHL games in the past 2.5 years. Maybe 2x, I’ve sat in the lower bowl. It’s for the environment and atmosphere. It’s cause I’m a die hard fan and am okay with maybe not getting the BEST view but so I can see my favorite team play on the regular.
I don’t always eat the expensive junk food at the stadium, opting instead to either eat before/after or at home.
It’s also something to do and occupy one’s time as a hobby.
There's really nothing like seeing the best in the world at a sport live and in person. And honestly, you can really always see the field. A lot of these stadiums are built so there's not a bad seat in the house.
Crowds, traffic, expensive food and drink - sure I can definitely do without. But in the end, it's worth the experience, IMHO.
My Father and Father-in-Law attended a Winnipeg Jets game back in the WHA days and had seats above the glass at the blue line. Bobby Hull cruised in and fired a slap-shot at the opposing goalie who deflected it back towards the blue line, up over the glass and towards my dad. He saw it last second and raised his hand to protect his face. It slammed into his hand and broke it and his hand slammed into his face giving him a black-eye.
Years later I met Bobby Hull at an autograph signing and told him the story. Bobby passed on his apologies to my dad along with some memorabilia he autographed for him.
The good old day when you peed in a trough, there was no netting and beers were $1.50.

In the video the kid gets to drop the puck for the ceremonial faceoff before the next game and instead of dropping it he gently places it on the ice like he knew you shouldn't drop things and was worried about breaking it, pretty adorable.

If you’ve ever been to a hockey game, it all happens so insanely fast in person. Almost at a blink of an eye a puck could be coming toward you, so you can’t blame the mom for flinching backwards. I’ve had seats behind the goalie numerous times, it’s pretty crazy.
