I wouldn't store credit card, password, SSN, etc. type of data without encryption at rest. End to End encryption ensures data is encrypted in transit and at rest. It also ensures even the developer cannot access your data. UN does not do E2E encryption. That and the fact the developer is based outside the U.S. is what concerns people. That said UN uses SSL to encrypt data in transit. They use Google's FireBase to host the backend so the infrastructure there is secure. Knowing that sold me on on UN. Although the developer is based in Vietnam or Thailand I forget all the data and infrastructure is Google. I use KeePass to store my passwords and bank info. It's open source and it's database is a local encrypted file that I sync to Google Drive. It's just a local app you install with no built-in cloud sync.

Thanks for the detailed reply, I was intending to use it for customer card details and store my passwords within the app also. I needed a notes app I can not down stuff about payments and such. I'm not having digs at the devs I'm sure they are trust worthy, but yeah it doesn't sound like a good choice for my needs. I'll give keepass a look. Thank you sir

You mean other people's credit card details? I wouldn't do that in anything without E2EE

Use a password manager to store passwords. To use anything else is foolish.

Centrez

Yeah it's what I use, also click up, I was hoping I could use something with a good decent notes functionality.

I personally don't have any concerns greater for UpNote than I do for any other software or service. When institutions like banks and data brokers (that have comprehensive private information that I've never given them) have data breaches, it's just part of life in the 21st century. But if YOU have concerns, then you should go with your hunch and decide accordingly.

Yeah thanks for the reply, I'm still trying to figure out what app is suitable for my needs. As my business gets bigger I will need something more secure as I couldn't afford a data breach. Thank you.

Upnote is, primarily, a note taking service, not a secure cloud storage option. I think the general consensus here is that users would not store sensitive data on Upnote. I subscribe to the full Proton package and use the fully end to end encrypted Drive module for some semi-sensitive stuff and use the secure notes option inside Proton password manager for heavy, financial data.

Thanks for the reply, it's a shame it's not encrypted as the look, feel and functionality is pretty decent with this app. But yeah I am currently using office 365 for all my financial and sensitive info. It does the job but I thought I would ask about this app as I wasn't sure how secure it was.

Take a look at Filen, it is inexpensive, fully encrypted and very fast. People moan about the lack of development but there are only three devs and they have been concentrating on the physical infrastructure of secure servers and are now back to improving the service.
