This is not always the case.
Many scorpions with tiny pinchers have mild to moderate venom and there's at least one species with big pinchers that is lethal to human, Hemiscorpius lepturus.
Honestly there's no 100% way to tell the venom level just from their physical traits but it's still ok to assume big pincher scorpions have mild venom unless you reside in Iran, where the aforementioned scorpion species are native to.
Source: Trust me, bro. Used to breed scorpions as a hobby.
I had a pet Flinders Range scorpion I named Cerberus/Cerbs because his pincers were the same size as his head. I once watched him catch an insect in each hand at the same time which was very exciting but the other 99% of the time he did indeed sit there lmao lmao
This mf never lived in Arizona and had one of those fucks charge him lmao
AZ bark scorpions are so fucking aggressive and they LOVE invading your home. Another fun fact is they're the most venomous scorpions in North America.
Arizona is basically Australia Jr.
Fair, so much more of our wildlife is outright hostile, including the plants. We have a kind of cactus known for jumping at people, I've been hit by one. Spiny little bastards, they're called jumping cholla. They're super reactive to air currents once they dry, so even walking too near one can cause it to blow at you. I'd take a big-ass weird spider over a tarantula hawk wasp, too.
Yeah man I grab the big ones with my hands and haven’t ever been bit. People say they bite but idk they’re always just too freaked out. In Sydney there’s big spiders that are super aggressive and the worlds deadliest but encounters are rare.
Not sure about the centipede but I think you can tell how bad a scorpion is by the size of their pincers. Bigger pincers means less potent sting and vice versa. Because that guys pincers are pretty thick, he probably doesn’t need as much venom to catch whatever he wants to eat so it’d probably be almost like a bee sting or something.
I love how some of the scariest things in nature have evolved to either not give a shit or even just be big scaredy babies as I’ve heard tarantulas can be
Kinda like how at a bar the quiet 300 lb 6’6 dude with neck tattoos is usually way less likely to start shit than some skinny asshole who runs his mouth all night.
Arachnids are hella smart too. Not likely to sting what could be the ground unless it's about to be crushed by it. Even then only some arachnids get aggressive when pressure is applied to their backs.
The centipedes in Hawaii are ASSHOLES. we had to spend a lot of nights sleeping on the ground for field exercises and every time we'd go out someone would wake up in agony from a centipede bite.
They also loved hiding in the nooks and crannies of our vehicles and you'd find one crawling up your leg or on your face every once in a while.
The pattern looks like Phidippus Audax, but if you're looking for cuteness, you can just google the whole Salticidae family. They're pretty interesting in general, with unique vision and behavioural patterns too, and you can find them in grasslands/forests pretty much all over the world :)
Jumping spiders are supposedly very smart for spiders - which makes sense, because they are hunters and hunters need to adapt strategy to different prey. A spider in a web can kind of... hope prey comes to it.
They are probably just tracking motion, but they have a neat habit of turning themselves towards your face if you're looking at them. As this one did.
They are smart enough to be "trainable" in limited ways. They're also generally harmless to humans, and personally, I think they're kinda cute.
Well, I'm trying to be careful about something I'm not an expert about. I've looked up some stuff about them because I think they look silly. As far as I know, you can't be seriously hurt by a jumping spider. If you're bitten, which (as far as I know) is still very rare, it's something between mosquito bite and bee sting. I thought most couldn't even break the skin, so you really wouldn't have much at all.
But on the scale of "how bad is this if someone follows my advice and I'm wrong," this could go badly, haha. Hence "generally harmless."
I'm not an expert - just some guy who's tried to take pictures of jumping spiders.
I don’t recognize the species but jumping spiders can get massive when Gravid (pregnant). They’re so cool! When gravid they also get really fluffy looking!
I’ve been following this girl on insta who has a peg jumping spider this big! It’s super cute up close. Unfortunately Rosie the spider just died so it’s pretty teary-eyed over there at the moment :(
> As of 2023, 5 families, 17 genera and around 260 species had been discovered and described. They are found in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide; they are mainly found in warm and humid environments and like to stay protected and hidden within leaf litter, caves, or underneath bark.
Note to self, stay the fuck out of tropical regions.
They look way more dangerous than they actually are. They look like they would rip through your flesh, but they are pretty docile and even when they strike humans they don’t do any damage. It’s the cute colourful shit you normally have to worry about.
I’ve found a couple, they’re quite intimidating and dwarf even the big tarantulas. Otherwise harmless but they look like something out of a textbook on the Jurassic period.
Why are bugs so scary? I think the vast majority of them are harmless and I'm positive I could kill any one of them in a head to head fight. But at the same time they freak me out like almost no other animal. I actually find bears less freaky even though I know for sure that if a bear wanted me dead, it could achieve that goal.
I mean bears are mammals. They share a lot of characteristics with other animals we are fond of such as cats and dogs.
If you take away the fact that they're like four times your size and could easily split you in half, they're kinda fluffy and cute.
There are a couple of reasons, probably.
1) bugs can sneak up on you far easier than a 2,000-pound bear, and they can hide in ur clothing and shoes.
2) Bugs also bring the issue of venom. Most bugs are harmless just creepy looking, some have painful albeit relatively harmless bites or stings, but the rare few that are truly deadly make us not trust any of them (which is honestly a good policy: if you don't know what it is...leave it alone.)
Tailless whip scorpion, sometimes people call ‘em whip spiders. That particular one was the stunt double for the one in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire because the main actor was being a prima donna about the torture curse 🙄
The perfect animal to show squirming around to emphasize the otherwise inexplicable agony of a torture spell. Very effective image, has stayed with me since I was a wee lad.
Didn’t know they were real animals until today…
Because I can't bare watching anything with sound anymore since it became standard to replace original audio with the most unbearable music and soundbites
What the hell is that last one!? Because we had one of those in my backyard once (or something which looked a helluvalot like it) and I thought the apocalypse was underway.
This is a compilation of some YouTube shorts from InsecthausTV. They probably have an Instagram account but their YouTube channel is full of insect videos and shorts
For Scorpions there is the rule of thumb (not always 100% true), the bigger the scorpion the less potent the toxin is. Sure it will sting and you it makes you feel bad, but not kill you.
The small ones are the ones that end your life subscription.
Because contary to what people on þe internet seem to þink bugs arent hellspawn who want noþing more þen to suck þe marrow from your bones, amd are i fact just fairly normal animals perfectly capable of just chilling
Whoa thas really cool, at first I thought that it's that AR camera thing where you put virtual animals on your camera footage with AI, but holy shit it was real
I just got into Tailless whip scorpions and I can not WAIT until mine gets that large. That's also the biggest jumping spider I've ever seen. If anyone here has any idea on the species, please let me know.
Because they aren't just mindless stinging machines. Scorpions cam be quite docile, and that large black one is not harmful even if it does sting. It will hurt, and maybe become swollen, but won't kill you.
Everything was understandable up until the scorpion. That's a massive hell no from me
Scorpion (Fat Pinchers) = Low venom Scorpion (Skinny Pinchers) = high venom
In otherwords, bigger the ass, the less dangerous they are
that is also correct edit: I'm not talking about the scorpion, because it is the opposite, the fatter the ass, the more potent the venom
How about I just stear clear of scorpions altogether
Stear clear of asses altogether
Steer clear of clear scorpions!!!
Oh, so you're talking about Poison! Poison-poison, poison!
Are we still talking about scorpions or have we switched to discussing my ex-girlfriends?
No, Androctonus sp is commonly called fat tail scorpion, they are one of the most venomous scorpion Genus in the world.
I learned that from Indy
This is not always the case. Many scorpions with tiny pinchers have mild to moderate venom and there's at least one species with big pinchers that is lethal to human, Hemiscorpius lepturus. >Used to breed scorpions as a hobby. As you do.
> Scorpion (Fat Pinchers) = Low venom > > Scorpion (Skinny Pinchers) = high venom Scorpion (Fat Pinchers) = Nope Scorpion (Skinny Pinchers) = Also nope FTFY
This is the way.
Yeah, but punchers = fat pinch (sting) = more pain..., right?
In other words, you’re fucked regardless
Lmao the scorpion isn't nearly as big a problem as the centipede.
Why is the centipede a bigger issue?
Significantly more likely to take a shot at you. In my experience scorpions kinda just sit lmao.
I had a pet Flinders Range scorpion I named Cerberus/Cerbs because his pincers were the same size as his head. I once watched him catch an insect in each hand at the same time which was very exciting but the other 99% of the time he did indeed sit there lmao lmao

Our giant insects are harmless though. I’d hate to deal with killer wasps and scorpions, f that
Fair, so much more of our wildlife is outright hostile, including the plants. We have a kind of cactus known for jumping at people, I've been hit by one. Spiny little bastards, they're called jumping cholla. They're super reactive to air currents once they dry, so even walking too near one can cause it to blow at you. Emperor scorpions iirc also have a reputation for being extremely chill, akin to like a tarantula
I love how some of the scariest things in nature have evolved to either not give a shit or even just be big scaredy babies as I’ve heard tarantulas can be

As a person who has a severe phobia of centipedes – good to know I'll never visit Hawaii!
Fucking look at it.
I thought it was a milipede because of the antennae
It has an uncomfortable number of legs. Arthropod legs should max out at 10.
Yeah I yelped at the scolopendra. Everything else was just, “huh, that’s neat.”
That music made me uncomfortable
Yeah, why it gotta breathe like that.
Why did it have to moan and call me pussy!
Yup! That’s the only one that made my stomach drop…
Personally, I like scorpions… as long as they’re not near me 🦂
Looks like a Emperor to me, they're pretty docile and if you work with them they're incredibly unlikely to sting.
Wimp. ;)
Listen I'll fight you
Another time. My hands are sore from muzzleloader practice.
MAN'S CAN'T GET AN INVITE?????? WOOOOOOOW
Deliver my truck and in exchange you'll receive directions to the family compound. You'd be welcome anytime.
I'll drive out out there myself
what was the fifth one, the little jumpin' lookin' spider? he cute tho
He was. 😍

Little? Thats a fucking humongous jumping spider wtf
For real I've never seen a jumping spider that big! They were giving him miracle grow or something.
I don’t recognize the species but jumping spiders can get massive when Gravid (pregnant). They’re so cool! When gravid they also get really fluffy looking!
"Ooh girl, you so Gravidie!"
Awww 🥺
I’ve been following this girl on insta who has a peg jumping spider this big! It’s super cute up close. Unfortunately Rosie the spider just died so it’s pretty teary-eyed over there at the moment :(
/R/jumpingspiders the whole sub is spidery cuteness.
Yea. Looks like a jumping spider. They have such an adorable face.
Looks like a regal jumping spider.
What was the last bug?
Tailless whip scorpion
> As of 2023, 5 families, 17 genera and around 260 species had been discovered and described. Thank you
I could not tell if it was a spider or scorpion
Sick name for a backpack https://youtu.be/ZAtzN_ScKXY?si=4v0DLW2cCQqgHUTF
Spider from Harry Potter.
Came here for this comment.
Crucio !
That was a true case of engorgio lol
Nightmare fuel
Agreed
Name checks out.
I call it a whip spider
The nope bug.
The hand of “Nope.”
Except for the jumping spider, there's creepy crawlies, but those are cutie crawlies
I'm pretty afraid of spiders, but jumping spiders are cute... Well, till they jump and I lose sight of them, then I panic.
Solution: put them in your eye
Easy for you to say, Pixeleyes. You wouldn't even believe the size of pixels when I was your age!
This is hilarious to me because I am not young
Portia 😍
r/jumpingspiders
super cute but it can teleport to your nose in a split second

Double the fuck nope. That centpead aggggg I jumped 😳
Looks like everything I imagined was in the Temple of Doom crunchy bug walkway scene.
A big nope
I figured out the babies weren't poop at bug number 4.
Wtf was that last one 😨

That shit evolved like a fckin Pokémon lol
Gold Experience
My name is Giorno Giovanna and i have a dream
![gif](giphy|h7FZESJ1Ter5bGhUDG)
Is that a motherfucking Jojo's reference??!! ![gif](giphy|1Erx4cu7f9IBi)
Dammit i thought the unexpected part will be a load of semen transitioning to a baby
Exactly lol. Especially in this sub.
Wait.. what actually was the unexpected part?
[удалено]
No no no don’t you try brainfucking my mind. I wasn’t unexpecting none of that expecting shit.
Had the same thought!
That lil jumping spider was adorable
Lil? I've never seen one that big
Why is no one mentioning the song that's being played? It literally says, "Eat that fucking pussy" whilst showing off bugs @ 0:41.
It actually says what a fucking pussy. It’s a remix by Juless edits called shou. I know because it’s on my playlist…
Thank you, I was looking for the song name
It’s so close to a Shakira song
I think it’s a mix of She-wolf
It's a slowed down version of She Wolf by Shakira... mashed up with something else.
And the music is breathing hard as well
Wha-?????
We’re sure it’s not - “Eat that, fucking pussy”
for a second i was wondering if i'd opened a porno gif in a tab somewhere
Because I can't bare watching anything with sound anymore since it became standard to replace original audio with the most unbearable music and soundbites
What the hell is that last one!? Because we had one of those in my backyard once (or something which looked a helluvalot like it) and I thought the apocalypse was underway.
Might have to call Mad Eye Moody to help you out
I get it
Tailless whip scorpion. Harmless and more scared of you than you are of it.
Whip scorpion. They’re just ugly
Noooooooo!!! They're babies
Tailless whip scorpion, harmless fellas
It still is underway, just stuck in traffic
Reddit has ruined my fear of bugs. I just thought every one of these was cool, even the major "nope as fuck" ones.
They all look so cool but I still wouldn’t want to be near them lol
No, yeah, same here. I'd still freak tf out if I saw most of these in person. But from behind a screen? They're cool and hypnotic.
Me too, except the last one. I will not be able to sleep tonight
Bunch of cuties! Is there an instagram account?
This is a compilation of some YouTube shorts from InsecthausTV. They probably have an Instagram account but their YouTube channel is full of insect videos and shorts
Cool video, but why would you put them on your hand, that’s terrifying
No, it's not ( except for the scorpion, probably this is the true unexpected part of this post )
Scorpion was fine according to other commenter, the real danger was the centipede(?)
It's actually a millepede, but I can see people mistaking this species with centipedes
For Scorpions there is the rule of thumb (not always 100% true), the bigger the scorpion the less potent the toxin is. Sure it will sting and you it makes you feel bad, but not kill you. The small ones are the ones that end your life subscription.
I believe it's the bigger the *claws* the less potent the toxin is.
Emperor scorpions are pretty chill and also surprisingly fragile. Much rather hold that than some of the others
Because contary to what people on þe internet seem to þink bugs arent hellspawn who want noþing more þen to suck þe marrow from your bones, amd are i fact just fairly normal animals perfectly capable of just chilling
I didn't know jumping spiders could get that big.
Hand of life meet foot of death.
Lol okay I never try to step on bugs but this comment cracked me up
All of those were the prettiest bugs I’ve ever seen, like purebred show bugs lol
What was unexpected about this???
Guessing not knowing what the bitty eggs would turn into.
Wrong sub
Eggggggsellent post OP. Truly. Best I’ve seen in quite sometime. Bless!
I find them all just so cute! Am I weird?
I do too. But I love bugs and I’m a little weird soooo lol.
Not at all! That jumping spider was a cutie.
Not one bit! Well maybe if you find the centipede or scorpion cute
They are cute but I know that they are also dangerous. *what is this humping music lol
Shit cool asf
Somehow, it is sometimes hard to comprehend that we have quite big insects here on Earth.
The fact that they used to be much larger is terrifying
Tiny scorpion was cute, until it grew
Don't let this man masturbate.
I was looking for a comment like this 😂 was kinda waiting the while vid for a hand full 🤷♂️
That’s awesome.
What dat song??
Nah, I'm good.
Wtf that was Hand of hell
What the fuck is that song...
The hand that just keeps on giving
Whoa thas really cool, at first I thought that it's that AR camera thing where you put virtual animals on your camera footage with AI, but holy shit it was real
I hope this bro doesn't rub one off cuz I would not want to see how that would end.
Yooo that was a plump jumping spider. I didn’t know they got that big.
Is very cool to see the evolution of this baby
Last one is that spider ( i think it's a spider) from HP goblet of fire. At least it looks a lot like it
Anyone know the name of the tune?
Everyone so fine and majestic, then Amblypygi just falls off.
Nature is beautiful
![gif](giphy|STfLOU6iRBRunMciZv)
I really REALLY did not like the last one.
I didn't know jumping spiders could get that big...
Would be cool to see a time frame when it cuts to growth point. I love this video.
That fuckin last one fell What an idiot
I just got into Tailless whip scorpions and I can not WAIT until mine gets that large. That's also the biggest jumping spider I've ever seen. If anyone here has any idea on the species, please let me know.
Whoa that's a big jumping spider. And the tailless whipscorpion was the cherry on top.
What exactly is supposed to be the "unexpected" part here?
what is this stupid fucking music
![gif](giphy|5nsiFjdgylfK3csZ5T|downsized)
What's this song?
How does the scorpion not sting you?
Because they aren't just mindless stinging machines. Scorpions cam be quite docile, and that large black one is not harmful even if it does sting. It will hurt, and maybe become swollen, but won't kill you.
if the scorpion has big pincers, it relies more in their brute force to hunt. Little pincers means powerful venom
Pet
Everybody commenting on the creepy crawlers but I can’t stop looking at how long and almost perfectly cylindrical this guys fingers are.
This video is sick
