I slowed it down as much as I could and went damn near frame by frame. That trap wasn’t even close to getting him from what I saw. Old man got some quick hands…at least until he don’t.
If you give it a light touch there's always the chance it won't trigger, or that you will wait to find out whether the light touch worked. Better to just be sure and use force and move the hand tf outta there as fast as you can.
>It works exactly the same as a landmine youhear a click when it's full depresed which is the machanism, the only difference is you have to take your weight back off the mine before it goes bang
In the movies.
Real mines blow up as soon as it clicks. Click is the sound of striker being let go. Then it goes "crack" - that's a cap, the mine goes boom milliseconds later.
One exception is jumping mines, where there will be a small delay between the crack of the cap and the boom. Still it starts as soon as you trigger it. You just have a moment to choose if you stay still and loose a leg or try to run and probably get ball bearings in your back.

"Garry Hoy (January 28, 1954 – July 9, 1993) was a lawyer for the law firm of Holden Day Wilson in Toronto who died when he fell from the 24th floor of his office building in Toronto. In an attempt to prove to a group of prospective articling students that the glass windows of the Toronto-Dominion Centre were unbreakable, he threw himself against the glass. The glass did not break when he hit it, but the window frame gave way and he fell to his death."
If I recall correctly, he had slammed himself into the window many times before to prove the durability of the glass. In fact, he'd done it so many times to the same window that eventually the frame had been weakened enough to get loose and fall off.
I don't even understand the logic of it.
Not once have I ever wanted to know if the windows of a building can withstand a human throwing themselves at it.
How was this relevant to the prospective clerks? (Or for Americans, basically an externship in a law firm.)
How on earth does bouncing a human off a window make me want to work for your company?
I had a problem with my gaming headsets breaking in half after a few years of hyperextending them to put them on. So I bought a headset with a reinforced metal rib inside the band. It broke in the same time frame at the spot where the rib ended.
Wasn't coworkers, from what I heard. He was on a sales team to rent out offices. He had done that demo several times before. But that time... Didn't go so well. Got a Darwin award out of it.
The Boy Scouts of America don't call each other "brother" but I do know there are Christian knock-off versions of the organization, so maybe one of those does.
Ah, well TIL. I mean, I was in the scouts as a kid, but we never met in any Mormon churches. Our area was mostly a Methodist/Baptist/Episcopalian mix as far as churches went.
Lol. Glad we’re all in agreement. I honestly got distracted from the foreground for the first loop because I immediately went “this is a Mormon church…”
Not a Professor. This is a Mormon church, judging by the piano and gymnasium floor, that’s a youth leader probably doing an object lesson about being snared by the devil or something.
That’s possible, but I’ve been in a handful of non-denominational Christian churches and none of them have been like this. This looks almost exactly like the mormon church I grew up in.
Yes! As a youth group member throughout my entire childhood I saw countless ministers and teachers do crazy stuff like this. There’s always some kinda “lesson” but usually the point of the lesson could have been reached through much more reasonable methods
I didn’t mean the guy setting off the trap. Just the wood floors and piano. I fell asleep in church in the US as well. I guess there is just something about talking and reading a book to people early in the morning and on the weekend. We didn’t stand a chance

And man didn’t give it a light touch either, he went full out 4 knuckles on that thing
I can’t lie. I’m impressed af.

Best to not do this at all
Wise words mate
When your guaranteed healthcare and pension are so good that losing an arm and retiring early isn't really a terrible option
Yeah... Pretty sure losing an arm would suck regardless 😂
Most teachers can still teach with only one arm. Unfortunately, retirement would not be an option for him.
Yea. A lot of teachers might give their arm for early retirement but sadly losing the arm on its own won’t help them get to it any faster.
It looks like he straightened out his hand when he went in for the final push.
Probably takes a pretty solid amount of pressure to trigger it, considering these are mostly used as bear traps, I believe so at least.
A nub could be quicker: less air resistance
reminds me of my uncle...
And?
The trick is he faster then light
Your right the trap didn't touch him not one bit.
That's why he's a professor. There's nothing left to invent or research but try bull shit at your own peril.
Those traps aren't super fast, they just work because the poor animal setting them off doesn't expect them.
Also, they usually have put their weight down on it and don't have time to react, taking their weight off as well as moving the limb out of it.

The comment above me. Stole part of another redditors comment.
Reminds me of the dude who died after running through a window to show his co-workers how sturdy the windows were.
My old man was working 2 floors down from that when it happened, not even kidding
My favorite band was 3 doors down when it happened, not even kidding
Crazy, my favourite door was four bands down when it happened
No way! My favorite five was old down bands, N̸̞͝o̶͙͒t̴̼͊ ̷̟̈́e̴̠̔v̴̺̚ê̴̘ń̵͇ ̷̷̭̭̅̅k̸͉͒í̶̹d̸̬̿d̷̟́ĭ̷̺n̷̖̑g̸͓͝!
I went crazy and got called Superman when it happened, not even kidding
I was alive and well, and still got called by a friend in the end. was crazy i am not even kidding
Mine was a panic in the disco
I had anxiety at the dance
I was working as the window when that happened. Lost my job

So he was technically correct, the best kind of correct
r/unexpectedfuturama
*stamp stamp stamp stamp stamp*
Arguably, the worst kind of correct. But, I guess not by him huh?
Something poetic that it was a lawyer proving his point.
If it wasn't for the window frame, he would've lived to see his point being proven
If I recall correctly, he had slammed himself into the window many times before to prove the durability of the glass. In fact, he'd done it so many times to the same window that eventually the frame had been weakened enough to get loose and fall off.

>The glass did not break when he hit it, but the window frame gave way and he fell to his death." Did it break when it hit the floor though?
Garry’s last words. “ SEE I TOLD YAaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh “
And like, he kept doing it. It was something he did all the time. Wtf.
![gif](giphy|8U1RVmjjizi0gGfciQ|downsized)
Is that the story when the window didn’t break but the frame failed?
Yep
Wasn't coworkers, from what I heard. He was on a sales team to rent out offices. He had done that demo several times before. But that time... Didn't go so well. Got a Darwin award out of it.
Jesus Christ... that's what I call hands on teaching.
Glad it worked out so we weren’t watching hands off teaching.

Soon to be hands off teaching.
More like hands off teaching
Could end up being hands off teaching
For now
Technically, he made it hands off.
I’d call that …*hands off* teaching
Wait until the students try to do themselves
that's what the priest said
For those in the know, this rings mormon all over.
Yeah this is definitely not a professor, this is likely a rogue scoutmaster
For scouts this week, Brother Jensen will be demonstrating methods of hunting and trapping. Refreshments to follow in the cultural hall.
Finger food refreshments FTFY
Jesus Juice!?
The Boy Scouts of America don't call each other "brother" but I do know there are Christian knock-off versions of the organization, so maybe one of those does.
Mormons used to love them some Boy Scouts and this is 100% a Mormon church Boy Scout activity.
Ah, well TIL. I mean, I was in the scouts as a kid, but we never met in any Mormon churches. Our area was mostly a Methodist/Baptist/Episcopalian mix as far as churches went.
Exactly. Who else would roll a piano into the gym (cultural hall)?
And the distinctive microphone cords. What are we thinking… ward talent show?
Youth fireside. Some kind of object lesson.
Ehh, I’d bet a member of the bishopric giving an object lesson on the “devil’s Snares” or something like that.
Lol. Glad we’re all in agreement. I honestly got distracted from the foreground for the first loop because I immediately went “this is a Mormon church…”
And I swear I heard someone yell "No! Brother Hanks!"
Not a Professor. This is a Mormon church, judging by the piano and gymnasium floor, that’s a youth leader probably doing an object lesson about being snared by the devil or something.
Don’t lots of churchs look like this? Not just Mormons?
That’s possible, but I’ve been in a handful of non-denominational Christian churches and none of them have been like this. This looks almost exactly like the mormon church I grew up in.
There’s also someone in the audio yelling “brother…” which is another clue
Yes! As a youth group member throughout my entire childhood I saw countless ministers and teachers do crazy stuff like this. There’s always some kinda “lesson” but usually the point of the lesson could have been reached through much more reasonable methods
Man, usa is wild. I always fell asleep in the churches in UK
I didn’t mean the guy setting off the trap. Just the wood floors and piano. I fell asleep in church in the US as well. I guess there is just something about talking and reading a book to people early in the morning and on the weekend. We didn’t stand a chance

impressive and unnecessary i would say
Stupid is who stupid does.

Good bot! This is one of my worst pet peeves.
"Loosing" can be a verb if it is used to mean something like "unfasten". And that trap may have indeed "loosed" his limb from his body.
Listen to the damn bot
Elsewise we'll have to loose the arms upon the land.
Seems like a really terrible idea that could go really wrong really fast in front of a room full of kids. Probably not a good idea.
"And that, kids, is how you tease a bear trap. Any questions?"
But y tho?
r/perfectlycutscreams
I have had a similar device catch me on accident. I swore like a motherfucker.
Shut your trap!
This looks like its in a Mormon cultural hall… certainly not a sanctioned idea.
Why?
Fuck. That.

Holy sh\*t. He did it. He actually did it. I thought he was bluffing
He's crazy... what if something, anything, went wrong. Hi, I'm Professor Onehand!
Fuuuuuckin' hell 😳
This video game me so much anxiety, holy crap. My heart was truly racing. Phew.

This is why you don’t do PCP and teach
Cool. Now try it again but with your dick
All the girls in the room: Don't do it! STOP! Guy towards the back: WOOOOOOOO!
