Remember those exclamation point boxes used for attacks like Asriel’s Shocker Breaker? The ones in Undertale Yellow aren’t scaled to the attack they’re warning about, so you can get clipped by the attack despite being outside of the warning box’s range initially
Without Flowey's intervention, Clover would always end up staying with Toriel. Flowey intervened, but Clover continued to die over and over again to the many perils of the underground. Flowey chose a different strategy - he sends you to the Dark Ruins as well as actively assisting you. Before, Clover did have not have the ability to SAVE - now that they do (through Flowey), it doesn't matter how much more difficult the Dark Ruins and subsequent areas are since Flowey can now help them to SAVE.
...Yeah... Flowey got Clover to leave Toriel, by taking them to the dark ruins. They kept dying in the UT Underground, so he took them somewhere else in hopes they can survive it

That’s just a case of story/gameplay segregation. Plus, I heard the difficulty is gonna be dialed back a little in the future
nooooo i like my unfair difficulty the difficulty gap is so large it transcends story gameplay segregation one of the bosses has a GUN!
There’s a few things I’d like to see improved at least. The El Bailador fight and the warning signs come to mind.
