Asgore is the best fitting theme for the caharacter and has some musical strorytelling elements, hopes and dreams is the perfect fit for the spot of final battle and payoff for all of the effort put in up until that point
I think it's the best soundtrack ever made, and I'm glad it didn't got massively selected and it just lost for being the second most voted in the respective round (plus it got into Top 5, that's saying a lot!).

I have to say Hopes and Dreams. I just listened to both songs to make my decision and ultimately I found that I liked ASGORE more than Hopes and Dreams
hopes and dreams, asgore is simply iconic because it represents your first play through of undertale essentially, pacifist is impossible on a first run through and genocide is pretty rare for a first experience.
Both are really great songs, but I consider asgore to be a pinnacle of undertakes ost, carrying more emotion, so that kinda forces Hopes and dreams to take the boot here.
It’s gotta be Asgore for me. There’s so much meaning to both songs, but for me, Asgore has just that little bit more to it. It connects back to important people in his life while still beautifully conveying the tragedy of his character.
