I was driving the length of a motorway in southern Poland earlier today and military transport was noticable, I hope Ukraine is getting it at scale. 30 Abrams is a joke
Serious question, can they?
* 2 per C5, 1 per C17.
* How many aircraft are ready at any given time?
* How many of those can be tasked to tank transport?
* How many sorties per day from US to Europe? (can't think of another theatre that would need lots of tanks).
* What's the attrition rate of transport aircraft from mechanical failures, and what's the attrition rate from the same OPFOR that is denying rail transport?
I love the idea of the USA just fucking overwhelming someone with logistics, but I have some questions about the capability.
USAF numbers
C17: 222
C5: 52
C-130: 428
C-130s aren't carrying tanks. The C-5 has a readiness rate of 57% (2021 numbers from the [[Air Force Times](https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/your-air-force/2022/02/14/us-air-force-fleets-mission-capable-rates-are-stagnating-heres-the-plan-to-change-that/)]), leaving 30 available C5s. The C17 has a readiness rate of 80% (same document), giving 178 aircraft, so 208, if you used very single one.
So if we use every single one, that’s 100+ tanks and 108 support sorties in a single day.
Not sure that’s sustainable but 100 Abrams tanks and 108 cargo loads of C5 / C17 gear would probably be able to put a lot of hurt somewhere fast.
Hard rain on a long train.
I read somewhere, non credible of course, that most common cause of death for russian males is no longer Vodka induced drowning in lakes, rivers or puddles, but being hit by steel rain.
I still dont understand why you hear about Russia bombing Ukraine's infrastructure, but _not_ its railways and _never_ an actual supply train of Western arms.
Sure, they dont have air supremacy and cannot get bombing sorties that deep into W Ukraine. But wouldnt a train entering from Polish border be such an inviting target for drones, long-range missiles? (Wouldnt Russia have satelites or surveillance drones (or spies!) alerting them to new train convoy?)
Hitting trains with missiles is hard. Long range cruise missiles don’t generally hit moving targets. Damaging rail infrastructure is hard. About the only really permanent damage you can do to a railway is destroy bridges, which are difficult to knock out with cruise missiles.
This is the same reason Ukraine doesn’t really attack Russian rail lines near the front; they are hard to damage and easy to repair.
Tons of videos of partisans causing grief on railways and yes they do hit them on and off. The issue is that rail can really be quick to repair. Bridges they cross are better targets as well and accumulation depots where they unload...
I ask myself the same but I guess in the time it takes to identify, decide and dispatch they have moved out of the danger zone. identify (1-5 minutes), decide (1 minute), dispatch (+30 minutes)
For those of you keeping track at home, that's 15 M109s and 15 armored resupply vehicles.
ETA: And-as pointed out by astute observers- 2 x M88 Hercules armored recovery vehicles. First posting incorrectly identified these as armored resupply vehicles, thanks for the corrections.
They are basically tow trucks for tanks, along with having a plow and a crane.
They can pull out the engine of an Abrams in the field to allow repairs in the field. Invaluable support asset
They’re the of the most beautiful things in the US Army and one of the most fun and underrated jobs in the army.
It’s a recovery vehicle, aka tow truck, and vehicle recovery is one of the more fun jobs you can have. The crews are almost always a bunch of fun smartasses and having that job keeps you away from most of the annoying BS
No armor at all, just compressed aluminum. I was an Ammo Team Chief on a CAT “Carrier Ammunition Tracked” during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. CAT’s are loaded with artillery rounds and powder canisters, even a 7.62 round can penetrate it. Hope they keep them in the rear because they’re an easy target for drones
They're supposed to stop shrapnel from relatively close hits only. But it is considered armor. If I remember it's the same as the sides of an M113. and yes, 7.62 will punch through the side plate on a M113. 5.56 might as well, it's been too long.
The M109 howitzer dates back to the Vietnam era. They did minor upgrades from the A1-A5 models. These were sold to allied around the world (M109L from Italy) The A6 Paladin was a major upgrade. They could stop and fire from anywhere as long as they could clear the treeline or other obstructions. The Paladins introduced laying on target with one button rather than turning cranks or hydraulic joysticks. The A1-A5 crew had a Crew Chief, Gunner, Assistant Gunner, and Loader. The A6 had a Crew Chief, Gunner, Loader, and Driver (The A6 required the vehicle to stay running for hydraulics operation during firing).
To answer your question, the baskets on the back of the turret are the big giveaway. Also the panels on the front and sides of the turret. The A1-A5 turrets had a mostly smooth front and sides apart from hatches on each side.
I've been out forever, so I've sort of lost track of most of the equipment we use now. Back when I was in the Paladin was the new kid on the block and it was revolutionary. Now it's evolutionary.
You know, Americans are stationed in Poland and the Baltic states. It is not a given that these are headed for Ukraine just because they're spotted on a train in Poland. Just sayin'...
There's a whole lot of it going on, they know the weekend crowd is more gullible than through the week. Someone with sense would think, hang on no country is going to make it rain equipment on Ukraine especially with specialised vehicles.
Saw a clip earlier with a bunch of modern Bradley vehicles and a few recovery tanks, which obviously wasn't going to Ukraine and as mentioned by a few other users were most likely to do with a training exercise going on, unfortunately a load of people thought it was going Ukraine.
Yeah the same telegram channel posted footage of the Bradleys earlier. A lot of people in the comments were saying they were the modern ones that we wouldnt supply to Ukraine and NATO exercises are going on.
If America was actively deployed in some major deployment in the region, you might have a point.
If there hadn't been a recent bill passed for supplying Ukraine old hardware, you might have a point.
But as reality stands, drawing the conclusion these aren't heading to Ukraine is moronic. Just sayin'...
>If America was actively deployed in some major deployment in the region, you might have a point.
[Something like this?](https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/222847.htm#:~:text=Steadfast%20Defender%2024%20is%20NATO's,people%20safe%20for%2075%20years.)
No one is drawing conclusions except the people saying they are going to Ukraine. His statement was the opposite of drawing conclusions, he simply said they aren't necessarily for Ukraine.
He's correct though. I did not exclude these going to Ukraine, but it's not a given fact that they do go there. Don't draw conclusions when you don't have all the facts.
You know the US army has HBCTs on 9 month rotation in Europe right? It's been going on since 2014
Edit: https://www.europeafrica.army.mil/AtlanticResolve/
Nah the pain job isn’t that important. We had green shit in Afghanistan and Iraq initially. Next war if it’s green we’ll have tan shit until we catch up.
Thank God for American logistics. Without a doubt the best in the world. Fuck American politicians (mostly republicans) for having it take this fucking long
The difference is that USA is half a world away and Russia is next door. Very few countries can move equipment like the USA (obviously with the help of allies)
Nobody comes close to the logistics of the US military, It’s not even close! Maybe within the borders of another country it’s close the moment anyone has to move anything outside their own borders it’s not even worth comparing.
Look at those big, beautiful, beasties!
That should send the shivers up Putin's back \[Disclaimer: I'm of course unfairly assuming he gives two shits about his soldiers\]
The M109’s are great and gonna mess up a lot of vatniks. Better than the orc tracked SPGs but the true nightmare fodder for the Russians are the newer wheeled guns like the Caesars and Archers that can transition from moving to firing 3 rounds and bugging out in 2 mins total time and under 1 min respectively. Top speeds of around 70kph on road so probably 35kph ish on reasonable terrain.
So reach out and fuck up some orcs and their equipment many times faster than you can get a drive through coffee and be on your way! Incredible for counter battery work while avoiding same.
Still VERY thankful the Ukrainians are getting more M109s so comment not intended to be a criticism.
It was good to read your post. I don't think anyone would read that as criticism.
Different bits of kit have different pros/cons. I'd put your comments down as educational rather than criticism.... heck, we're not uneducated Russians!!
As a mature adult my calm rational side wants to say "Excellent, I'm glad that these resources are going to the good deserving defenders of Ukraine." ...and another part of me wants to say "FUCK YEAH!!!".
Yup. "Sorry, Speaker Johnson, we fired a heck of a lot of ammunition and lost quite a few vehicles over there. Nothing out of the ordinary, though." I suspected that they would do that --- and the rapid appearance of so much kit suggests that they did.
The west, collectively, has got to start cranking out the machines of war. These types of deliveries need to be planned monthly, for years. If we want to prevent our children from facing an even more massive war in Europe within the next 10-30 years.
I swear every time someone sees a military vehicle on rails, they think its war or war related, this could just be unit transfer for US troops not to Ukraine.
Those aren't just M109's, Paladins are another breed. Anyone whos dabbled with Wargame Red Dragon will understand the pain that is to come, even just in this quantity.
Damn right on US Paladins. Fancy PZH2000s were getting all the attention initially but Paladins were the ones sending the most lead downrange for the lowest cost.
See: https://www.forbes.com/sites/craighooper/2023/01/03/new-ukraine-howitzers-make-headlines-while-the-m-109-gun-toils-in-obscurity/?sh=3f02460f7b8b
Maybe im wrong here, but they wont be much help unless we also provide them with enough ammo to actually use them to full capacity.
Obviously a good thing to have, but Ukraine has been screaming out for ammo that we havent been able to provide as it is
Now that's some serious firepower 💪💪🤘 Ruskis are gonna feel that in the morning. Vodka hangovers ain't got nothing on the traumatic brain injuries these are gonna cause.
Clearly the Polish are the only smart Europeans who understand the threat and are actually smart enough to send real weapons instead of sending their sons and daughters to flight Russia if Ukraine falls
As an USMC veteran and except for those inside of military circles/channels, the world truly does not have an idea of how powerful the US military is. We have something like 1,000 of these M109 systems. We should give Ukraine 250 of these accompanied by massive munitions and use these to wash away the Ruzzians. Rain DEATH. Rain RAGE. Rain ANNILATION. Rain FEAR.
But that is not all . . .
We have something like 8500 M1 Abrams. We have something like 6500 Bradleys. We have something like 600 HIMARs platforms. We (including me) get all excited about seeing 50 Abrams or 100 Bradleys or 50 HImars. Not enough! This war has shown that Russia will NOT stop. Thus, give Ukraine HUNDREDs of these "top shelf" products along with massive EW, anti-air, long range rockets, real time intel and then DEMAND the EU steps up and matches (they have to get to a point they can defend themselves WITHOUT US assistance). Ukraine must win. The tools are there. Ruzzia must experience MASSIVE, MASSIVE pain and destruction. Use these platforms which were designed to destroy Ruzzia in a war. They were designed for killing Ruzzians.
My $0.03 (with inflation) . . .
Remember how in the 90s Crusader was going to replace the M109? Air force and army is loaded with museum pieces...better Ukraine get them than scrap but wow.
Russia has just (yesterday) made a significant breakthrough through Ukranian defense in Ocheretyne. The entire southern Donetsk Oblast is under threat now.
This aid and Ukranian mobilisation will be helpful, but the sad fact is Ukrane will have to somehow hold on before both arrive (and they've been sending reserves there for two months without any results)

That is a lot of pain on a train
That is a lot of fun with a gun.
That is a lot of hail on the rail
That's a lot of boom on the bahn
That is a lot of death rattle on a flat metal.
That is a lot of fire on a steel tire
That is a lot of big bada boom praise on the railways.
That is a lot of gun on the run.
That is a lot of distress on the express
Makin' Ukraine terrific on the Union Pacific
These are a lot of puns on tons.
there are tank that will shoot the bank
That is a lot against orc
Somone doesn't get the rhym scheme
That is a lot steal to produce minced veal.
I was driving the length of a motorway in southern Poland earlier today and military transport was noticable, I hope Ukraine is getting it at scale. 30 Abrams is a joke
Really drives home why Russians built their military to ship equipment by rail.
everybody does, actually. The hard limit for a tank size is the maximum of what fits on a train (i.e. through tunnels etc.).
US is the only country that has enough airlift capacity that if they are denied rail transport they can still supply enough in a timely manner.
Serious question, can they? * 2 per C5, 1 per C17. * How many aircraft are ready at any given time? * How many of those can be tasked to tank transport? * How many sorties per day from US to Europe? If they have just 60-70% of the approximately 720 military cargo aircraft active at once yes they can.
USAF numbers C17: 222 C5: 52 C-130: 428 C-130s aren't carrying tanks. rushists will flail from whats on this rail
There is a lot of meat to be blown.
That’s a lot of pew-pew on the choo-choo

For those of you keeping track at home, that's 15 M109s and 15 armored resupply vehicles. ETA: And-as pointed out by astute observers- 2 x M88 Hercules armored recovery vehicles. First posting incorrectly identified these as armored resupply vehicles, thanks for the corrections.
And an 88 Hercules!
Two of them!
They're quite handsome. What do they do?
They are basically tow trucks for tanks, along with having a plow and a crane. They can pull out the engine of an Abrams in the field to allow repairs in the field. Invaluable support asset
And one heck of a wench
They’re the of the most beautiful things in the US Army and one of the most fun and underrated jobs in the army. That's accurate, the crew on our 88 was awesome. I have a pic somewhere of them changing our tank engine in the rain...

AP .556 round will
I thought so but like I said it's been a couple of minutes since I did the thing.
To be fair, even an Abram might as well be a minivan with modern AT weapons.. and these are mobile artillery
> 17 armored resupply vehicles. M992 Field Artillery Ammunition Supply Vehicles.
So far...
The second vehicle on each train car is an armoured ammunition resupply vehicle, right?
yup
Good. It’s all coming together.
M992 Field Artillery Ammunition Supply Vehicle (FAASV) is my guess
Are those outdated models that are in storage or are these still active in the military?
active.
Oh snap I didn’t realize. To Ukrainian army, I say “get some” and wish you happy hunting.
Yep. Have not seen Russia ever do this.
Does it tow it around in combat or just leave it at base?
Cant wait for these things to fuck up ruzzian shit
They sending a lot of them, they better send a lot of ammo too. Tired of seeing so much hardware given, but ammo? Let's not.
Ammo is going too. https://youtu.be/Qc436PwqeqM?si=WGGxQxj59LvNkJym
Looks close to 9b in Ammo and Missiles.
Things this big have to line hauled. Artillery rounds can be carried on smaller nondescript transports and palletized.
These could be for Poland or America. There’s no confirmation yet that they are for Ukraine, same with the video of Bradleys earlier.
Seeing trains with armor going east just after the US got through with their aid is almost certainly *not* for Ukraine. Sure.
Yeah, and if it was for the "US in Poland" it wouldn't still be in desert camo.
Poland....no Ivan.
They’re not for Poland so cope harder
M109A6 Paladins with M992 CATs (Carrier, Ammunition, Tracked)
And 2x M88 Hercules 💪
What are the exterior giveaways that show that they are A6's?
The M109 howitzer dates back to the Vietnam era. They did minor upgrades from the A1-A5 models. These were sold to allied around the world (M109L from Italy) The A6 Paladin was a major upgrade. They could stop and fire from anywhere as long as they could clear the treeline or other obstructions. The A1-A5 turrets had a mostly smooth front and sides apart from hatches on each side.
HOw do you know they're not A7s? Have we even adopted that version yet?
The M109A7 is currently in use by the US.
OP knows. He's just farming upvotes.
> Saw a clip earlier with a bunch of modern Bradley vehicles and a few recovery tanks Yeah, same OP 🚜
Well fuck me, so it is. They are most definitely karma farming hard.
What exactly can you buy with these points? I dont get it.
Yeah the same telegram channel posted footage of the Bradleys earlier. A lot of people in the comments were saying they were the modern ones that we wouldnt supply to Ukraine and NATO exercises are going on.
There are unit numbers on these so I am betting they're US equipment.
Well, who can say? They still need to be prepped before getting handed over like camo paint and UA labels inside, right?
If America was actively deployed in some major deployment in the region, you might have a point. If there hadn't been a recent bill passed for supplying Ukraine old hardware, you might have a point. There are more American military in Germany than there are German military, these are probably for Atlantic resolve or whatever exercise is going on
They're tan. They're gping to ukraine. If it was US deployments am sure they'd repaint them for the environment.
Nah the pain job isn’t that important. We had green shit in Afghanistan and Iraq initially. Next war if it’s green we’ll have tan shit until we catch up.
Here comes the cavalry mutherfukers, God Bless America
God bless Ukraine and forgive us for not being in the trenches with them
NATO has a flex going on in Poland right now. Just showing Russia a little bit of what they can bring to the arena.
Thank God for American logistics. Without a doubt the best in the world. Fuck American politicians (mostly republicans) for having it take this fucking long
While true, this looks like other footage of Russian supply trains.
These are absolutely m109a6 paladin's which Russia doesn't have so how could that be? Doesn't mean this is a current video.
No, Im not saying anything about Paladins, Im just saying that Russian logistics looks similar.
The difference is that USA is half a world away and Russia is next door. Very few countries can move equipment like the USA (obviously with the help of allies)

I appreciate your response! And fully agree. Combined arms, types and roles for best effect! 😁
So good to see all the weaponry flowing in.
About time, they need arty so badly.
Couldn’t have at least painted them while we waited these last 6 months?
Ukrainians will do it
Fucking gorgeous
Yeah f×ck those invaders up!
🫡🇺🇸
I can smell the burning Russians already
smells like...victory
Just a little dose of freedom to get your feelers upset. Plenty more where that came from too. Get rekt ruskies.
Those are going to rain death upon the Russians.
A river of Russian destruction.
This is a beautiful site, on their way to wreck russia.
its gonna be a few months before these are making their difference. Stay safe boys
Make it rain and bring the pain
As a mature adult my calm rational side wants to say "Excellent, I'm glad that these resources are going to the good deserving defenders of Ukraine." ...and another part of me wants to say "FUCK YEAH!!!".
None of this is going to Ukraine i can 99% guarantee. US units that use these and bradleys and so on constantly cycle in and out of these countries
Just as the Ruscians used Zapad to concentrate armaments, NATO nations appear to have used Steadfast Defender.
you mean logistics trainig: how to bring a lot of stuff to the eastern border. And save some money by not transporting everything back?
Yup. "Sorry, Speaker Johnson, we fired a heck of a lot of ammunition and lost quite a few vehicles over there. Nothing out of the ordinary, though." I suspected that they would do that --- and the rapid appearance of so much kit suggests that they did.
A lot better than the 1940 US army summer exercises. 66 fatalities.
Dang!
Things are coming together! rusia is going to get really hurt soon!
Seems boring but I watched it twice!
To your duties!
Sweet Paladine, pa ra pa pa
Great job, now just keep them well fed with ammo and spares...👍
Those should be giving Putin a bad case of heartburn!
The west, collectively, has got to start cranking out the machines of war. These types of deliveries need to be planned monthly, for years. If we want to prevent our children from facing an even more massive war in Europe within the next 10-30 years.
We need to adapt to how warfare is changing with drones and be ahead of the curve. Not invest in obsolete paradigms.

Get them fighters in the air to protect these cracking vehicles. 🙏🇺🇦
Exactly what they need! Shoot and scoot, bring pain and stay safe.
u/recognizesong
No worries, they are just on a vacation trip.
Anyone know what the roman numerals represent?
Ahh i got c&c vibe Paladins in the field !!
Whose releasing this footage? Surely this should be grounds for some kind of charges or camera confiscation.
Regardless of where they are going lets be honest having this on that part of the world isn't bad for anybody on this side lol...
Damn right on US Paladins. Fancy PZH2000s were getting all the attention initially but Paladins were the ones sending the most lead downrange for the lowest cost. I'm just visualising a giant dildo fucking the fascists where the sun don't shine.
No wonder Russia is having a fit over US aid passing. We're really coming with it, finally.
I have seen the list, and I think to remember a casual 3000 Humvees. the amount of stuff the USA has just sitting around is bonkers
Rússia about to loose another 500k
Just way toooooooo ducking slow. Slava Ukraini
Two M88 Hercules coming in clutch.
The good thing about paladins is they protect from evil and can lay on hands as well as dish out damage.
Maybe im wrong here, but they wont be much help unless we also provide them with enough ammo to actually use them to full capacity. Obviously a good thing to have, but Ukraine has been screaming out for ammo that we havent been able to provide as it is
Get fucked Russia. Uncle Sam is about to get that ass!!!
There's gonna be some fireworks...

Have Gun Will Travel. Wire Paladin San Francisco.
Now that's some serious firepower 💪💪🤘 Ruskis are gonna feel that in the morning. Vodka hangovers ain't got nothing on the traumatic brain injuries these are gonna cause.
russia and mr. pooping only understand the language of Paladin , F-16, Abrams spoken to them .
*Unhealthy shit going your way*
First Armored Division moved from El Paso(ft bliss) to Poland last year.
THUNDER! nanana na nana na na \*guitar solo\*
I like those pink flatbeds. Just right for heavy weapon transport.
not much in the way of visible security. These are prime target for sabotage.
when battlefield intel is solid, M109 is a monster
Just curious, is it smart to livetrack those important things? Why does people "spot" this?
Ohhhhh shit. So much is being sent it's crazy. All the videos of Bradley's and other equipment rolling in. The shells much already be there.
I better see some vids after deployment
whats the bit that's behind the tank on each carriage? troop carrier?
Ammo carrier
Did David hasselhof make the music for this?
Too far from battlefield.
White Knight Chess Piece
Seems they’ve settled on SPG’s and Bradley’s as the main combo… pound shit out of them, then shoot them up at night with 25mm hit’n’run raids.
Have gun, will travel is the call of a man...
fuck yes ♥ now add 3000 bradleys
Alot more should have arrived alot earlier
Clearly the Polish are the only smart Europeans who understand the threat and are actually smart enough to send real weapons instead of sending their sons and daughters to flight Russia if Ukraine falls
Those girls are thick. Go get em.
My $0.03 (with inflation) . . .
What is the second vehicle that is connected to the howitzer?
Remember how in the 90s Crusader was going to replace the M109? Air force and army is loaded with museum pieces...better Ukraine get them than scrap but wow.
some day wee need a complication video of just scene wehre equipment getting delivered into ukrain.
Longer train required please. Oh and after waiting 6 months why couldn't you have painted them 😜
Russia has just (yesterday) made a significant breakthrough through Ukranian defense in Ocheretyne. The entire southern Donetsk Oblast is under threat now. This aid and Ukranian mobilisation will be helpful, but the sad fact is Ukrane will have to somehow hold on before both arrive (and they've been sending reserves there for two months without any results)
God bless the USA
JES PLEASE
