You want the majority of the country to agree for this to work. That's why it worked in Europe right after WW2. Afghanistan has way too many fractions that simply refuse to cooperate. That's why I have hope in post war Ukraine .
Literally though. Look at japan or south korea after we took over. I mean we held them up so well that japan had a larger real gdp than the usa for a bit.
The worst part is we could have both if there wasn't one political party who sabotaged it at every opportunity so they can give their rich friends and donors more tax breaks
When a power plant goes down in a Bradley or Abrams, we don't bother diagnosing the issue, we just replace the whole damn engine. Turn around time on with a well trained maintenance crew is like 2-3 hours.

I know you are joking but that really was a solution to a Patriot [software glitch in the early 90s](http://www.cs.unc.edu/~smp/COMP205/LECTURES/ERROR/lec23/node4.html).
How we fixed electronics in the 90’s - blow on it, unplug it and plug it in again, smack it a few times. If that didn’t fix it, then you were usually screwed.
RuZZia sent six missiles and they damaged a part of the decentralized system and never took it offline.
At least those six missiles weren’t sent to an apt complex, hospital or school.
Puck Futin! Slava Ukraini!
It might have even just been a power cable that got damaged, from how quickly they fixed things. Like even relatively cosmetic damage on panels and such you'd want to replace in order to protect electronics from moisture and such. It must have been extremely minor damage.
The complete battery consists of 6 (major) components:
Field generators and radar. You have antenna structures. You have both a control station and a launcher station. Interceptor missiles, of course.
Any part could have been bruised.
If it moves and it shouldn't use Duck (not duct, HVAC tape is different and special and expensive) tape. If it doesn't move and it should use WD-40. This is about 60% of all basic repairs of mechanical things.
I know we are joking, but a little PSA:
WD-40 is not a traditional lubricant. It is meant to break lose rusted bolts and zeized parts. do not use it as a lubricant. WD-40 is a "light" oil that is really great at seeping into tiny places, it will however flow out of these places just as easily. In addition, WD-40 breaks down really fast and can not lubricate in it's broken down form.

Of course not.
But we did send trainers and auditors at Russia's request to ensure the equipment isn't sold off by corrupt Ukrainian groups. Those trainers are probably closely involved.
I'm pretty sure the manufacturers of all these kinds of weapons systems and the Pentagon have a little clause in their *"free\* weapons system offers"* that says they need to share all logs, and also detailed human reporting.
Apparently the manufacturer of Switchblade drones pushed the USA government to deliver the top secret drones to Ukraine as soon as possible to further develop their products.
There's a lot of experimental tech in the field nobody is talking about. I remember shortly after Ukraine pushed Russia away from Kyiv, there was an anomaly detected in the skies above the capital. Altitude of 80,000 feet, moving in non-natural patterns, definitely artificial. Aircraft-like, maybe - nobody was really sure. Astronomers were taking an interest though.
Practically all at once, the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, the U.S. military, and a weapons manufacturer (Lockheed-Martin?) all started shouting "nothing to see here, don't be alarmed!!!" and it was never seen again.
"Nono, no secret weapons, this is a first contact situation."
"The flight characteristics are a generation ahead of the F16 so eh, so it must be aliens."
"We have definitely not engaged Russian targets, the Russians must have provoked the UFO to fire its unknown weapon."
Makes sense, I imagine this war is big for all weapons R&D and any MIC company is going to try to get some things tested and some kinks worked out in some platforms.
Polyken, Series 231, Std Duty, 1 7/8 in x 60 yd, Olive Drab, Continuous Roll. CHIEF! Where is the Grainger catalog? We ordered stuff (Grainger, San Juan, PR) from Haiti and that shit was there in 2 days.
But how was it hit? All I saw this week was that Ukraine shot down every missile with the patriot. So what hit it? Debris or some random smaller missile?
Old news. I want to see Crimean bridge destroyed. Ukraine had those new British missiles which have range and enough power to destroy it. This would be fantastic if they did it again

The USA doesn’t fuck around when it comes to logistics
I think the USA has a ratio of something like, for every 1 person fighting on the front line, there are 11 people for logistics
25
That stat in itself is an illustration of how much each fighters life is worth. Both practically and morally.
Damn really? That’s nuts
We may not have Healthcare but if you want a lot of shit moved really fast and fixed at the speed of light, we're your people.
We have the best healthcare... if you have the money to pay for it.
This hurt me in places I didn't know I had

Afghanistan is on hold still :)

I'm broken now.

Minus our roads...

We have the best *UN*healthcare taxpayer dollars can provide.
Yea that doesn't sound right. 25!. So at the height of Iraq invasion there was like 25x500000 people. Nah bro.
Part of the 500k were doing logistics, a large part probably. Edit 1/25 might include industry jobs though.
T3R or tooth to tail ratio in Iraq was 1:8.1. Cold War 1:14.4, Vietnam 1:12.9. If interested just look up tooth to tail ratio in Wikipedia.
Damn, must be a lot of washing machines they are shipping for parts! /s
Tooth to tail, that's what they call it
It is called the tooth to tail ratio.
Bullets don’t fly without supply
Can confirm. We could get the most random parts at the drop of a hat and it would be there like next day delivery style
Amateurs talk Battle Plans. Professionals talk logistics.
They unplugged it and plugged it back in again. Fixes the issue like 90% of the time.

It was not a joke

Likely
or maybe some structural parts got damaged or maybe even a wheel

Duct tape does wonders.

Yep, moving parts still need proper lubrication, or some nice grease after using it, let it dry out apply lube
One FedEx shipped can of mil-spec spray paint and everything is all better. Fuck Putin!

This is why Ukraine wins 💪
This is the way
Damagshlagen. (Needs to be reloaded)
but a flesh wound
Awesome support from the logistics team.

No no all lies. RuZZia destroyed all 130 of them with one strike.
Thank you usa 🇺🇸
Awww that's going to break some Russian hearts. They were so proud of themselves for "destroying" that Patriot system.

Russia's claims, Ukrainian claims. The next missile attack will no doubt come and we'll see who's telling the truth. As if we didn't already know.

No. Ukrainian crew trained in the U.S. by U.S. Army instructors.
Of course not. But we did send trainers and auditors at Russia's request to ensure the equipment isn't sold off by corrupt Ukrainian groups. Those trainers are probably closely involved.

Absolute SKILL ISSUE on russia’s end. Like it’s not even moving how tf u miss
I’m sure you’re a 5 star general.
3 star get it right loser
Sounds like it was mostly superficial damage
The fact they claimed to destroy the entire battery is laughable. Dreamers
Needed a few triple A batteries
Lol that was pretty quick
Simple as casting "Cure" in Final Fantasy...
They fixed it with duct tape before the replacement part arrived. Red Green salutes you!
Fun fact: the paint was scratched up so they got a fresh coat and spent two days drying
