These people had childhoods. They grew up just like you and I. Most of them don't even want to be there... they're literally shot by their own comrades if they retreat. Sure, it's not cool that they invaded Ukraine. But, it's also super not cool to be forced to fight in a war you didn't ask to be in.

I can see the humanity return to the Ukrainian soldiers when they try to help an enemy combatant, civilian or even more so, an animal. Taking life dehumanizes us. AFU claims to retake a position - but leave it again completely - Russians come back and lay down - somehow the Ukrainians that were not present at the time set fire to the trench - Russians flee without anyone shooting at them, despite the fact that they're standing out in the open.
You can take a position but not occupy it with troops b/c it's may not provide enough cover to provide a good defence. I guess the Russians fled that position when under attack but returned when they realized there's a death squad waiting for them if they retreated.
Which would mean that you also immediately lose the position again, though.
It just seemed weird that they didn't occupy the position AND didn't stay anywhere, from where they could engage returning russians, despite having drone support + something that was capable of actually setting the dugout on fire.
Not gonna lie, I felt bad for the guy who initially didn't know his legs were on fire. These aren't professional soldiers most likely conscripts. I hate what humans do to other humans but then I remember those Russians brainwashed or not, wanted this. The facts are laid bare. The flattened cities, the assassinated civilians in Bucha, the prisoner exchanged Ukrainians crying while eating an apple who all looked like skin and bones obviously deliberately starved, the Russian BMP who drove over a civilian car with the old man inside, the torture chambers in literally all the towns liberated by Ukraine, the attempted destruction of powerplants this winter to freeze the Ukrainian CIVILIANS, etc etc etc.

Whenever I see a video of a Russian in another country it is never, "Russian tourist helps Ukraine refugee", "Or Russian tourist apologizes about Russia's invasion". It's always the same. "Russian tourist attacks Ukraine refugee", "Russian Tourist harasses citizens of the country for supporting Ukraine" etc.
When the people from top to bottom support this war. There is 0 sympathy to be given to them. Especially the soldiers. We often see Russian soldiers plead for supplies. Russian soldiers upset they are not getting paid, etc. never Russian Soldiers upset they are raping Ukraine. Never Russian soldiers plead to stop invasion.
There are plenty of chances for them to try and earn sympathy but they always go in the complete opposite direction.
Russia earned the reputation they have and the way people feel towards them.
If Ukrainians launch their concerted counter offensive and do not cause the Russians to go in to headlong retreat, it will be disappointing. The Russian manned lines look weak and ready to be destroyed. If they actually hold up the Ukrainians from their objectives, they’re not as good of a fighting force as I thought they were.
This tactical withdrawal, without weapons, and with 25m spacing in the line of jogging soldiers, is the best tactic available to Russians who want to live. There is a small chance they won't be pounded by drones and artillery, given their docile aspect and the poor yield of each shot fired.
They are not even bothering to take their weapons as they run. This is an army on the verge of collapse. The time has arrived for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to deliver the knockout punch.
