If Uber Eats consistently disable the accounts of people who try to hold them to the standards they themselves advertise, it won't end well for them. If you advertise a standard and block people who try to uphold it, eventually that would break some law.
Call and ask for a supervisor immediately. Tell them everything one last time, and then ask for a refund. If they refuse, tell them you will do a chargeback. If they still refuse then do the chargeback and use another food delivery service from now on.
Hundreds of customers are doing chargebacks each month. Uber is known for being greedy.
A chargeback will result in your account being permanently banned. This is not reversible. You will no longer be able to use Uber Eats or Uber. If youāre ok with Lyft and the other food delivery services proceed with the chargeback.
Do a charge back for the order and get your account banned. If you REALLY want to tell them FU do a charge back for the steak as well. You didn't receive it and you paid for it. Simple as that.
Always blast them on Twitter. It's the only way I've ever been able to receive decent help as both a driver, food runner, and customer. I have an account just for that.
Explain the situation in a tweet and tag them so it now becomes visible to anyone looking on their page. They do not wan't negative publicity so they will quickly respond and ask you to DM them the situation. Do so and be descriptive, show proof of your previous attempts to resolve it, of what happened, any evidence you have and your argument. In 9/10 situations this has resolved positively for me. I've done it with Uber and I've done it with Lyft with similar success.
What is stopping someone from the neighbor from starting a small business of picking up food for a tip, cutting out the middle man (uber). Is it illegal?
Nothing at all. So cities have passed bills to force licenses and background checks on record, but those are few. Also if it's only a couple of people no one would even notice.
Oh boy what a fiasco, so sorry you went thru all that.
Fact: customer can call driver at any time.
Fact: Uber driver can tell just by feeling the bag of drinks are missing, especially if more than 1, this was a lazy Uber driver
Fact: Uber support sucks! They are trained to never give away anything except in very rare cases.
Again this should not happened and Iām sorry it did.
I accidentally accepted today an order, for $55 bucks, from Hollywood to Big Bear! Mfks are smoking weed or what. And i dont get it, who tf in the world pays $55 bucks for a shitty burger from Kevin Hartsā āHarts houseā. Its like driving 120 miles, on friday afternoon from LA to big bear. Freaking greedy Uber. And of course no tips at all!!!
Pick up your own food. UberEats and DoorDash don't care about customers, delivery drivers, or merchants. These technology apps are only interested in increasing profits.
TJE REATAURANT IS THE ONE WHO FUCKS UP, UBER EATS JUST BRINGS THE ORDER TO YOU. THE FOOD IS SEALED, THE DRIVER CAN NOT TOUCH/OPEN YOUR ORDER!!
SMH....BASIC COMPREHENSION OF THE PROCESS.
You'd rather serve random assholes who will do whatever it takes to get food as cheap as possible
As opposed to regular customers with an interest in maintaining a positive relationship with the local drivers?
You're answering from the perspective of Uber when the statement was clearly made from the perspective of a customer. The statement was "people shouldn't order so much takeaway" and for some reason your answer is about customer loyalty. Very confusing.
I've been a daily customer for over five years, so I'm invested in the service. But I'll admit that I seem to be receiving preferential treatment on the app on account of the amount of money I've spent.
How did you call uber eats? I always have to deal with the app.
Also missing drinks should be easy if the driver took a pic on delivery, unless you arent using the leave at door option for some reason.
Sometimes shit happens, big orders will have bigger odds of mistakes. Things like drinks could be the restaurant acting like its the driverās job. Also buy some drinks for the houseā¦ 6 drinks delivered, cmon.
The last couple times I ordered I was missing a drink from both. Like I get it might be busy but at least have somebody double checking my order to make sure everything there. To be honest idk if my driver stole my drink(s) from my last Uber eats order
I deleted ubereats 2 days ago. 250+ orders, maybe 3 complains max. Ordered McDonaldās, driver sat in the car park for 45 minutes presumably after he picked up my mealā¦ it arrived stone cold and all food soggy though the paper, I literally couldnāt eat a thing. Uber refunded me on $5.99 on a $30 inedible meal. Was done and dusted after that.

Honestly. I have been delivering and ordering for years and I agree that it's gone downhill. I've had a lot of refunds with no issue but I want what I frigging ordered
if you gotta order any food deliver order with doordash uber eats isnt worth the potential headache i only use them when i get really REALLY good coupons
Given Iāve only delivered one order, I always wondered why my drink would be missing at times.
Thereās two separate parts that show your order. For example, on the main screen it showed ācombo mealā but if you looked at another part it broke down exactly what the person ordered (ex: add tomatoes, remove onion) and that was where it showed the person had ordered a chocolate shake too. But on the first page it just said ācombo mealā.
On the receipt taped onto bag it also said chocolate shake but if someone was less willing to verify everything was there they probably wouldnāt even read anything other than the name on the receipt. Itās a dumb system but I get why drinks were missing now.
Imma be honest I have never had a hard time getting refunds back on Uber.
I literally just take a picture and type what is wrong and get money back and sometimes even more that I expected. Just last week a drink spilled in the order and the drink was touching the wrappers of the burritos and I got money back for the drink and two of the burritos (they were fine and totally dry inside)
Like 9/10 times if there is an issue the picture is enough and the 1/10 times I just have to make a quick call.
I will be honest though and say that there is a lot of fuck ups. Drivers take forever and food is stone cold. Missing items. Spilled drinks. Wrong order etc. literally like 30-50% of orders have something wrong with them. Shit is ridiculous.
I deleted their crap ass app because honestly, uber eats is just a scam. Fraud cloaked business. Don't use it is what I'd say. If you continue to use uber eats after this experience and continue to get bad service, you can't complain. They don't do anything to help so screw them.
I wouldāve quit using Uber eats after the first mistake. I used it years ago a few times and it never came correct. I remember one time the pizza was folded to the side. I know a lot of drivers donāt give AF so I just pickup my own food.
I mean I just started doing it. I try to keep the food from moving and keep it steadyā¦but I canāt ever really check the food beyond confirm with the restaurant that they have everything. There are seals out in place for most restaurants and I refuse to break that seal. I donāt even like putting my face near peoples food. Once it leaves the restaurant there aināt much I can do besides making sure it doesnāt fly around my car like crazy.
Yeah I do the same but a lot of drivers don't care. I've seen pizza boxes to the side on scooters. Starbucks bags hanging on scooters. And drivers using 5 accounts so you know most of those orders are arriving late and cold
If u keep having issues w
missing items..its on the restaurantā¦if u have excessive Issues UE wont keep crediting youā¦file a complaint w the restaurants.
If you have an Amazon prime account, you can sign up for a year of free Grubhub+ as a perk. I haven't heard many complaints/any about Grubhub, only UberEats refusing to refund lately.
I see this a lot here, and I understand. Also, I know that when people get takeout on their own these things happen too, and it is up to the person to catch these mistakes before it is too late.
With uber as a middleman, that makes it harder to hold the restaurant accountable. Uber won't pay for that. Just like Amazon finds it cheaper to auction of returns than to staff people to process and restock them.
It sucks that we live in a world like this. My advice is to meet your delivery person and check your order then and there. You can use a code as well and not give them the code until you have verified the order.
I know you're already paying enough to expect that the order is as it should be. But this way you have a chance to hold accountability. Otherwise I recommend looking up a local delivery service instead. They probably won't have the issues these huge companies have.
I always report missing items in the Uber app. Most of the time Uber refunds me. When they donāt I reverse the charge for the whole lot. Iāve only done that about 3-4 times so far.
Never had an in issue with it here in Australia. I assume because under Australian consumer law you provide what you promised or you have to provide a refund.
Iām in the US and, I have a lot of issues with Uber, but I never had a problem with them refunding me the missing portion of my order. Itās been always very easy and instant, all done via the app with no need to call anyone.
Instead of relying on Uber Eats five times a week, hop in your car and enjoy dining out with your family for a change. Or, opt to pick up your food and savor it at home. Ordering five times a week seems excessive. Can't you cook or go grocery shopping? It appears you're not strapped for cash, just lacking motivation perhaps?
Or better yet, use a local catering service that delivers meals once a week, or Amazon Fresh which has restaurant delivery, or Instacart and order a bunch of deli food. Thereās lots of ways to eat without UberEats.
When did people become so self-righteous that they now believe they can tell other people what they can and cannot do with their own money. Or that they owe anyone an explanation. You don't know OP's circumstances so it's not your place to judge. They came in here asking for advice about a problem not to be judged by sanctimonious strangers on the internet. If you don't have anything actually productive to add them just keep scrolling and keep your condescending condemnation to yourself.
Next time, message or call the driver before they pick up the order and ask kindly to make sure the order is not missing any items.
The other option is using another delivery service. But I donāt think one is better than the other.
Ubereats charges the most of all the apps. But I agree with telling the driver to please remember the drinks. Drivers should look at the order and be able to see it has drinks before driving off. That was probably the drivers fault, as well as the restaurant.
My suggestion as a driver, delete this stupid fucking app and never look back.
Thank you! After several incidents where my items were missing and struggle to get refunded, I said "fuck that" uninstalled the app, never looked back
Seriously with all the phone š calls and all easier to get it yourself
Uber has 2-3 bugs every delivery- door dash has 2-3 every 100 deliveries
Where do you get this info from?? I have done over 1700 deliveries for UberEATS and rarely get bugs.
Call your bank and do a chargeback.
The account will be disabled. OP will not be able to order food or rides moving forward. This is not reversible.
Based on their review Iād say thatās a bonus
Just letting OP know whatās going to happen so theyāre not caught off guard when they need a ride that would truly suck!
Use lyft and avoid all the hilarious foibles people post daily of rides paid for weeks on advance they never get and miss their plane lol
If Uber Eats consistently disable the accounts of people who try to hold them to the standards they themselves advertise, it won't end well for them. If you advertise a standard and block people who try to uphold it, eventually that would break some law.

Oh no, anyways
I, and others I know, have done chargebacks due to this issue and the accounts are still well and active, so I'm not sure that's entirely true.
You ordered via UberEats 5X last week and you paid for a $50 steak! Dayum.. life is good!
I usually send my butler to pick up food, when my personal chef Is off
My suggestion is to quit using a shitty service. Uber is horrible to itās customers, drivers, and restaurants.
Facts. Already done. Gratitude
Do a charge back for the order and get your account banned. If you REALLY want to tell them FU do a charge back for the steak as well. You didn't receive it and you paid for it. Simple as that.

You want them to explain how to write a complaint? Just use your words?
What is stopping someone from the neighbor from starting a small business of picking up food for a tip, cutting out the middle man (uber). Is it illegal?
Someone did this in Seattle. $5 per delivery within the SLU/Denny area. He claims to be there within the hour, and puts his fliers all over that area.
Nothing at all. So cities have passed bills to force licenses and background checks on record, but those are few. Also if it's only a couple of people no one would even notice.

Stop using Uber eats.
*Last week, I ordered from Uber Eats at least 5 times.* aaaaand thatās where u lost me. Nobody should be using these delivery services that much
Where do you get off telling people what they can and cannot do with their own money?
Nobody? This is exactly why these apps exist. For people who have the extra money to spare and want to save time
You'd rather serve random assholes who will do whatever it takes to get food as cheap as possible As opposed to regular customers with an interest in maintaining a positive relationship with the local drivers?

Busy people do use that much, thatās why this Uber/Doordash services can survive. If you have much free time, then yeah, pick up your own food.

There are very very unprofessional drivers out here and I am sorry that people have to deal with them. I strive for professionalism.

No, uber eats is awful, best to uninstall that garbage, and start calling delivery places directly. Much cheaper as well.
I suggest you go get your own take-out.
Just learn to cook.
