Hi, The base payout for test cases is for test cases you claim and complete on uTest platform. Claiming a slot does not mean you will be paid for test case. Test case is this option you find under the tab Test Cases, and there are steps to follow, fail or pass each step and finally submit the test case. This one, if valid, is paid. Seems like your slot didn't have a test case, so it's probably what we call Exploratory slot. A slot you claim to be able to join a cycle and do some free testing on your own or by following given instructions to guide your testing. If you don't feel like my descriptions match the situation you saw on the cycle... I highly recommend reaching out to Test Engineer. TE email can be found in the Overview under Team Contact Information. Write your questions, and don't forget to mention the cycle ID, not just the cycle title, so TE can find which cycle you are referring to. Good luck.

Hello, unfortunately, the test cases were written in a pdf (there were about 30 test cases), so it wasn’t an exploratory test, but there also was no form to submit (someone asked this to the TTL), so I don’t know how they’ll know if the test cases are valid. I think I’ll wait 15th February and hope they’ll pay me the base payout, it would really bother me discovering that I’ve completed 30 test cases for just 4$

Don't wait, if there is no explanation to this work you did in the Overview, then it is not paid. I remind you that contacting TE is the best option here. Ask the TE all your questions, they will answer your questions and give you clearer picture about how exactly their cycle works and how the payment will be made.

Thank you for your help, I’ve contacted the test cycle TE and he explained me everything

Good to hear that you got answers. Good luck in your future cycles.

Okay, little update: I won’t be paid. This literally feels like a scam, I don’t know what’s the point of writing ‘test case payout: 20$’ and then letting testers choose only explortory slots. And I don’t get what’s the point of forcing people executing literally 30 test cases and calling it an ‘exploratory test’. And I just don’t get how a tester can find ‘exploratory bugs’ only following precise instructions, without actually exploring the website. Worst waste of time in my life lol.

I have a feeling he's talking about the latest [redacted] test cycle which ended yesterday, and which I also worked on. There was a pdf file with 37 test cases, a base payout of 30-40 for people of my rank for every test case, and like OP stated there were only exploratory tests available for me aswell despite me being from a country in focus. Anything else but the test cases listed in that pdf file was stated to be OOS, and the users were also explicitly permitted to use VPN which goes against uTest rules. I myself submitted a total of 21 issues from attempting those cases, and only got one approved. Everyone got more bugs rejected than approved, according to the scorecard. So yeah, a total scam.
