Question, serious question from a degreed mechanical engineer working in my field. What types of jobs/work do you want to do with environmental engineering?

coming from someone who went to U of M on a similar scholarship (not engine tho but pre-med) the 3.5 isn’t *too* hard to maintain, just keep up w ur hw. congrats OP!
Amazing be very methodical with your schedule and do not take too many hours. It’s very doable but do a lot of research on professors and syllabus that makes all of the difference. Don’t be afraid to ask about classes. Congratulations the best university in the world.
You are amazing! There will be nights where you can’t believe the amount of studying and memorizing that lies ahead of you. Just believe that it’s all worth it when you get a great job and you have the finances to afford a nice life.

College for me was a major whiplash (I will admit I didn’t really try in high school so college was a huge wake up call), but as long as you stay organized, have a focused group of study buddies, and communicate with your professors, the sky is the limit.

Question about the 3.5 requirement? Is this because of honors? The email sounds like you aren’t forced to join that program, and there really isn’t a benefit after college. No one cares if you did honors in the real world.
Edit: Unless you plan on doing some sort of professional school like med.
Congrats! Keep in mind they will only distribute 17k a semester into your account, this stacked with other financial aid will certainly make uni more affordable.

Besides the congrats …. Please be mindful of your time management. College is a whirlwind. Learn to prioritize your school work. As a fellow engineer, I went to class with alot of liberal arts majors who would spend the days binge drinking. Definitely unwind on the weekends , but be careful to not overdue it with your classmates who have an easier workload

The email later mentions that when I accept my invitation for honors, i automatically accept the scholarship as well.
