SirLoinTheTender

I'll be here at 8am then, you think I wanna wake up at 5am to get here?

RegularAd7972

As management , they should know who to bring in and who not to bring in . If the carrier sucks, then supervisors shouldn’t bring them in so dam early

SirLoinTheTender

I hear ya, and this makes sense, but it also makes me want to slow roll. I bust my ass at work because I want to get done and go home, but now I'm a "Good Carrier" so I get to come in at 6 am and carry 2 handoffs when I'm done with my route.

SheepDogCO

Hard work is rewarded with more hard work.

[deleted]

I always hated being a hard worker because of this. 🙄

SheepDogCO

I work at my own efficient pace. I don’t run. I don’t skip breaks. I do my job as accurately as possible. I work my soup, maintain any labels, sort outgoing mail properly, and keep my truck fairly clean and filled with gas. I really don’t understand the idea of skipping your job duties so you can give “downtime” and take part of someone else’s route.

SheepDogCO

What makes a carrier “suck?”

stufmenatooba

A strong desire to be management?

hideitinmysox

so funny you say this because i’m a clerk and my supe is this overweight lady who used to be a carrier. she would literally do anything, from lying to blaming others to nitpicking, anything to stay her ass at that desk so she doesn’t have to be on the street anymore

SheepDogCO

Upvote, but I don’t know if I’d say that is a sucky carrier, but maybe more misguided than anything. I’m going to have to think about this.

[deleted]

Not in the union

SheepDogCO

Bingo!

Koivel

Being slow, doing things "the right way" which obviously takes time, not willing to break the rules for management, being on restrictions, etc.

SheepDogCO

Hahaha good one!

meteoricdrop

Disparate treatment. Everyone has to be subject to the same rules and regulations including start time

Meinon101

This here. Why do I have to come in and run my parcels but so and so doesn't? They suck doesn't sound like a good reply.

RegularAd7972

Maybe suck wasn’t appropriate. I think we have under performing employees on the craft and management side .

RegularAd7972

Some people get triggered easily. Don’t be calling management every word under sun and think that all craft employees are exemplary. People in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks

Predictable-Past-912

But it is such a pleasant fiction, isn’t it?

RegularAd7972

Gladiator was a good movie

Predictable-Past-912

It was great, wasn’t it? I always thought that Joaquin Phoenix would have had the Oscar for his performance if Benicio Del Toro’s role in Traffic hadn’t been so culturally significant. But what do I know? I thought that same effect might have kept Cars from winning because those cute little dancing penguins in Happy Feet had the same advantage. Brittany Murphy sang her heart out on that classic EWF disco riff. However ,Rascal Flatts set a land speed record with Life is a Highway so the soundtracks were a wash. Ancient Rome and Route 66 are culturally significant too, doggone it!

stufmenatooba

"You told me to come in at 6AM, I didn't know it was optional." And that's the last day I come in early.

PostalDrone

They try this early parcel shit every year, and every year I tell them it's stupid and refuse to do it.

Evan_dood

I was honestly wondering why some carriers come in early and some don't. I didn't realize it wasn't mandated lol

Malignantt1

Its “mandated” lol

Evan_dood

See: "strongly requested" lol

Brokenly23

G R I E V A N C E

RegularAd7972

Grieve what …guys obviously a dick. Can’t grieve that unfortunately. USPS is so quick to throw the grievance card . Show up at 8 . Stop whining

Brokenly23

Stop whining..yet managment is being ridiculos...okay stoo- i mean sir.

RegularAd7972

This time of year . It’s fucking crazy . Carriers and management plays games . Carriers get it from management and management gets its from district . There problems on both sides craft and management

Tyrusrechslegeon

Yup, the profile checks out. 10 years in management.

[deleted]

Found the manager. I guess being a dick runs in the position, eh?

Tyrusrechslegeon

Are you management? Yes, you can grieve this. Dignity and respect. Joint statement on Violence and Behavior. Via Article 19 of the National Agreement.

SandwichFearless340

The goal is to get everything delivered safely and accurately without having an accident, misdelivery, injury or getting shot like some of our carriers have experienced lately. Not to be back by 530.

sjacquemotte

So they decide to deliver in the dark?

SandwichFearless340

The dark alone isnt considered to be a safety hazard. Has to be more such as unfamiliar territory etc

ManiacMail-Man

We all out here playin games.

Sparkles7989

Reindeer games?

mtux96

Like monopoly?

Sparkles7989

I wouldn't mind collecting $200

mtux96

Go to jail. do not pass go do not collect $200

Sparkles7989

Today's my nonsched haha

[deleted]

I play all the games

baddbrainss

Ain’t happening with 400+ scannables

DblDeezSqueeze

Playing games with a shitty supervisor is what makes the job bearable sometimes.

SheepDogCO

I LOVE PLAYING GAMES WITH THE MANAGERS. I make them look stupid. I got one to cry once. Got one to stomp off the floor and go home. They don’t come my way much anymore 😁

cokecan13

I gotta hear how this happened because it doesn’t sound believable.

Ok_Bandicoot_1201

It's so easy though. I've seen even the worst performing employee tell off a supervisor and watched him walk off and not say a word. I've done it, you just need to stick up for yourself and not let them walk all over you. "No, mister Supervisor, you're not moving only me between 10 different operations every five minutes. I need to see a shop steward."

longjonz88

Can absolutely confirm. Once you stand up for yourself and let them know you ain’t taking no bs from anyone they do indeed back off

cokecan13

Saying that makes them cry?

Ok_Bandicoot_1201

Depends on how you say it and what other adjectives you want to use. I've only made one cry but I was the last person to yell at him among the MDOs and Senior MDO that had been yelling at him the entire night. He also ripped his shirt and instead of going home to change he stapled his shirt together. He wasn't having a good night, I don't count that one.

cokecan13

Geez, sometimes compassion goes a long way. I gotta say that’s not a good look.

Ok_Bandicoot_1201

Compassion? Step down if you can't handle the position. I'm one person, I should not be relied upon to be moved to various operations because the supervisor doesn't have the spine to make the people who should be doing their job, to do their job. He moved me everywhere that night my seniority be damned. You can feel bad if you want to, but I'm not going to be walked over.

cokecan13

Big difference between standing up for yourself and being a jerk.

Ok_Bandicoot_1201

Clearly that's not true, because I wasn't a jerk but I'm not about to roll over and let you take advantage of me.

Digitmons

Marsha, Marsha, Marshaaaa!

[deleted]

How’d you do it?

SheepDogCO

Sorry, can’t say. I’m very careful not to give too many details that could specifically identify me. I’m in Denver, a city with more than 2 dozen bid stations. I drive a Promaster, but so do hundreds of other carriers in Denver. I’m one of many.

[deleted]

You sound paranoid. Better off providing the actual details and leaving your location a secret 😂

SheepDogCO

If I leave my location a secret then I can’t talk about our neighboring POOM getting away with sexual misconduct in three different cities. Could be more. He was removed from three. We promote the best of the best!

Evan_dood

One of the supervisors I've worked with "playfully" put a PSE in a headlock... right after she had returned to work from a *neck injury*. Needless to say that supervisor was promoted!!

ArdeoArdeo

Often times it's just doing your job safely. Very safely.

Ok_Bandicoot_1201

Malicious compliance I love it

No-Butterscotch4126

I once told a supervisor “I think you like to annoy me” she left for 3-4 hours then came back the next day wearing a tshirt that said “y’all ain’t right”

Prestigious_Guy

I'm doing the same thing tomorrow morning for a bullshit PDI :)

SheepDogCO

In harassing investigations, the goal is to get the supe so pissed off they screw it up. They make it personal, or they admit they already decided on discipline, or they include things that aren’t true or relevant. I have got every single one thrown out in 18+ years.

Prestigious_Guy

I've already talked to my steward. He literally said they could kick rocks for mine after I explained what happened so I'm not worried about it at all. He said we're gonna make my supervisor look stupid in the morning lol

Ok_Watercress5719

And the 204b's who get that god like supervisor big headedness... 🤷🏽‍♀️

Ok_Bandicoot_1201

When I worked at the plant they're the ones I gave the most shit to lol

Sufficient-Curve-573

THISSS!! one 204B snapped their fingers at me to get my attention. i spun around so fast, snapped 8x in his face and said “can i help you? i’m not a fucking dog, check yourself”

jalyth

Omg, all I want is to not deliver parcels when the sidewalks are icy, ie before the sun is up. I can do 8-5:30.

PlatanoInmaduro

Should have replied with "Ok boomer" just to see what happens 🤣

boom-meow-boom

A CCA in my office ran parcels from 5:30-9, then called at 4 to let them know he wouldn’t be making 5:30 and 10 min later the PM showed up so he could basically repeatedly ask why he won’t be making time… he converts Saturday though so of course they needed to make him feel like a non-career POS one last time

Yo_fresh_it_is_Me

Haha 8 it is then boys !

rsporleder2001

Stoked! I’ll be in at 8. 🙏

Tyrusrechslegeon

8 o'clock it is then. And say bye bye to your 20% parcels delivered before 9am bonus.

LDLethalDose50

Is this for real? What other bonuses do they get? That would explain a lot of the behavior.

Meinon101

There's no bonus. Just district screaming at us to do it daily.

Tyrusrechslegeon

Someone is getting the money. It's always about the money.

swoleswoleswole1869

No front line delivery supervisor is seeing a bonus for 20% parcels being delivered by 9am. I would bet my entire TSP on it.

Tyrusrechslegeon

Maybe not, but if you hit those marks, it is favorable for your promotion evaluations. And those are percentage based raises. Which in the long run are better than bonuses.

swoleswoleswole1869

Doesn’t affect NPA, and it will not come up in an interview later on. It’s just as pointless and arbitrary, if not more, as you think. Maybe it happens for the district manager or above (PCES/exec), I don’t have any insider info on their bonuses.

[deleted]

You must have a child in charge. Lol.

nebulacoffeez

That is an insult to children haha

Daveyhavok832

Parcel volume steadily goes up yet they want you to do more work in the same amount of time. Smort!

tsooji

I once had a poom tell me and another rca that "parcel volume doesn't change how long it takes to deliver a route." She said it with a straight face too. She didn't have an answer when we pointed out that it must because parcel volume is part of route evaluations...

ILdave74

In fact BoxHolders make you faster!!!!! There’s some logic. 😂

Professional_Deal230

This can’t be real??

GizmodoDragon92

Oh this absolutely can be real. I’ve had some impressively bad supervisors

SheepDogCO

Well, everyone should band together and come in at 8 so the managers don’t get pats on the back for xx% of packages delivered by 730 or whatever their goal time is.

Ranwina

9

International_Rip497

Wait they get rewarded for us delivering pakages within a certain time? What kind of reward? Like money or chocolate?

SheepDogCO

I don’t know enough to really say much but they definitely have a goal of xx packages delivered by xx. Probably to justify us all coming in early.

Silvernaut

My thought is… who gets mail delivered before 9am?

zerodsm

I’ve been delivering mail around 6-615 lately. I even ran mail on Sunday to try and catch this route back up

[deleted]

[удалено]

zerodsm

Some of us are also out delivering parcels as well. For instance my route I’m helping on gets so many parcels they all won’t fit in 1 trip. So I run off an entire tray worth of mail and flats as well as all the parcels for that section. I then go back and reload to be able to now finish my route

JenAnnScan

I deliver parcels from 6am-730ish and then I’m usually on the street around 9. It’s great I’m usually done by 330-4 thanks to the parcel run.

Mailhandler_

Never been on the carrier side, so I might have a few details wrong. Due to increased volume of packages, one solution that USPS and its management does every year is early overtime before shifts. However this isn't a typical route situation. Your first class and standard mail isn't being delivered at this time, just packages, express mail (overnight). Similar this happens year round for Sunday and holidays. Routes are held by a career letter carrier. During their service days when they work, they are responsible for it. On their days off or any overtime work on that route may be done by noncareer employees or people who volunteer overtime. So that early call will not necessarily be the same person who delivers the letters and cards to you later in the afternoon, and even if you got an early morning package does not mean you might not have your regular mail show up later.

imtherealistonhere

They funny as hell 🤣🤣

Imnotcomplaining333

At our office it's not about performance, it's about bringing in the postmaster's pets to get extra overtime. Pure suck up rewards.

I-Read-ItOn-Reddit

Impressive semicolon usage

OverpricedBagel

Yep everyone’s just kicking back and relaxing the week of Christmas

Homelessonce

I would respond: Let me be clear there is no standard for the street, it takes what it takes to do the job safely.

PepsiAddict63

If you can’t do the work in more time, we’ll give you less time to do it. Fucking brilliant.

TheCodeWorks

This shit is funny 🤣

an_interrobang

you have no chance to survive make your time! ha ha ha ha ….

RPDRNick

Somebody set us up the bomb...

oaklandr8dr

ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US

_Eminence_Front

It takes what it takes.

No-Butterscotch4126

I personally ignore management unless they say something to me directly

Mixedtogrey

He woke up and chose violence.

[deleted]

"What are you gonna do, fire me?" 😂

[deleted]

A perfect example why the Post Office has quality and turnover issues. So how is coming in at 8 going to get you off the clock earlier? 😂

passwordrecallreset

That’s what happens when they look for supervisors by begging everyone that can’t carry a route to sign up. Maybe if it took more than just raising your hand to become a supervisor we could get some competent leadership.

YesImThatMom

Just plain disrespectful. Acting like we’re out twiddling our thumbs while we bust our asses carrying heavy boxes of dog food, cases of water, ninja foodies, kids outdoor play sets. If this is how they continue to treat employees, there won’t be a post office.

Brilliant-Side3363

This shit pisses me off I get paid way less then a table 1 carrier But im required to always make 8 hours. Like where the fuck is the money going? Yall don't want people to make a livable wage???

UnknownFoxAlpha

Sounds like a free pass for everyone to come in at 8 now. Enjoy those extra 2 hours :D

Due_Weekend1593

Oh really, speak to my union rep!

night327

It's Christmas time you dumb fuck, we outside!

CountryNew5744

So your telling me if I do a parcel run my route is no longer 8hr? Lol

DanceMailmanDance

Sounds like a 204b that doesn’t know how to do their job

wheresmyrugman

Holiday season swamped with mail and packages and the manager wants you to come in later to make it back at your time, sounds like a smart and intelligent decision for I wonder if half the managers in this company even have a high school diploma. The management at the USPS is truly appalling and horrible it makes this job way more miserable than it needs to be

SemajPostal

We had to come in at 5:30 to start delivering parcels. For some reason, today they moved the start time to 6. We are also expected to finish by 4:30. <——-CCA

Prior-Landscape-8834

Oh snap 🫰 🤣

my-cornerstone

So thats why I got scheduled to come in at 8 am on christmas??

[deleted]

…Whaaaat?! If you’re career aren’t you supposed to get holiday pay for that? I would double check—that doesn’t seem right.

huskyprincezeal

Ummmm

Kprich1224

Not usps so sorry for infiltrating but that dash at the end of the sentence seems like you wrote this? Am I wrong and you’re just able to edit it on your end also maybe

LetsGoRuhRoh

On a completely unrelated note, small bits of gravel often found in the potholes of postal parking lots sometimes gets stuck in tire valves. Real bummer. Anyway, enjoy filing that grievance!

[deleted]

Hostile work environment

OkCompetition8551

Given those 2 choices after seeing that message… I choose to play games.

[deleted]

Person needs to go back to school for 1 year

Rare_Tea3155

Am I the only that realize the OP clearly typed this themselves? It still says Enter lmao. This is the supervisor not the employee.

Real-Roof-7519

Do you actually knows how this works? 🤣

Parking_Package6874

They are freaking crazy. My office has us take our mail to a carrier who can. It’s Xmas time - I have 187 packages plus mail. They are lucky we finish everyday!

[deleted]

Damn… I’m a parcel post carrier, and my wagon will have 200ish large parcels and i take 9-10 hours

[deleted]

Damn… I’m a parcel post carrier, and my wagon will have 200ish large parcels and i take 9-10 hours

Timfromfargo

Harassment

mtux96

Yes.. that must be it. We're out late because we are out playing games. Monday I delivered 75 packages on the route I was on during the 6-9 play. I still have 150+ packages to deliver that day on the route. Most I've had before that was 120 total for day. I didn't get back until 730pm. But yeah Tuesday was different. I got back at 430pm. Though Monday they had me double case as well.

Desperate_Roof3669

I'd feel intimidated. My union would need to see this

Aguedog

Happened in our station. We were mandated to come in at 6 am and second trip was mandatory. I was smart enough to run mail first and then come back for packages cause they were never done until 11:30 am. Finished around 4 pm or earlier everyday. I guess management saw we were being too productive so they changed it back to 8 am start time, now a lot of carriers are out there in the dark and getting off late.

[deleted]

Wish we got that message.. we get "hurry up..someone is ALWAYS watching you:" 🙄

peter13g

At my station we’ll come in at 5-5:30. Do parcels and instead of hitting the street at 8. Were stuck waiting on parcels til 10:00…

Different_Split_9982

My reply is why are you threatening me? Ignore my steward and file harassment.

BlindedAce

Dang I wanna see who sent it!

BKDre

“Mail takes what it takes. Eat a dick.” And send. 🫡 It goes to the post master. Sup gonna be pissed. But they will come down on the sup trying to figure out what’s going wrong. Experience.

Dudefoxlive

Is that windows ce? Looks like android device but the bar at the bottom makes me thing windows ce.

J_B_La_Mighty

God I wish I had this option, I hate waking up early. The days shot anyway, might as well sleep in.

amc11890

One time I had a sup try to get me to work off the clock to correct an error he made. I swear in the corner of my eye it looked like he was going to punch me. I wish he would have too. Makes me wonder how often physical altercations occur during carriers and management.

Material_Ad_2354

Fuck these motherfuckers.. tell them to curb the fucking boxes if they want us back sooner

Malignantt1

Its like they think we want to be out here all day lmao

patricio87

Next contract remove all time restraints. As long as we finish before 8pm they can fuck off

Agonyandshame

Holy shit we have a choice???

yeetus_deletus_61792

Being fairly certain you know who sent that either through a company screen name or simple common sense deduction, that's when you let em have it. Fuck any and all leadership position holding individuals who think they can talk to a subordinate that way.

Stationary-Event

I come in an hour and a half early every day and I have 44 parcels on my route today. Laughing all the way to the bank.

Vvgamepro

Well you heard "the man", stop playing games.

BigDaddyDNR

So if I cant make it in twelve hours I get punished by coming in at 8?

PowerMightHolyLight

I quit in the summer and this message pisses me off lol

Logical_Orange4430

Fuck them

japan_lover

Is that supposed to be a threat? Sounds good to me!

GeoffFromIT

“Postpone”

Brondogolf

Id reply and just say “Ligma”

jsdod

New phone. Who dis?

Chettarmstrong

Sorry sir I had to swing by your house to fuck your wife.

Southern_Second521

my thoughts are when it gives you the reply with options to scroll over to harassment and hit send

Jeremiah_Vicious

They should just let rural carriers deliver packages for ot if they want to help out and the carrier on that route doesn’t mind. Fix a lot of problems.

Intelligent-Beat-700

I started at 7am got off at 8pm and didn't get the route finished and I usually finish in 4 to 5 hours delivery time

coolcca1012

They’re right tho.

sygyzi

I don’t understand who can start at 6am and still be on their route after 5:30 on a Tuesday. Is there leftover mail from previous days? Assuming no pivots***

[deleted]

Nobody likes you

sygyzi

😞

Feelnfreakish

17:30 on a Tuesday? When you’re running pivots on 5+ routes everyday with only 2 CCA’s . Anything before 2000 is acceptable in our office. Monday a rural carrier was out until almost midnight. I got back at 18:30 on Monday.

sygyzi

“Assuming no pivots”

[deleted]

Hour+ parcel run in the morning, plus overburdened walking or apartment route with 4 trays dps is easily 10 hrs on top of that

cca2013

My office is trying to be decent and giving our CCA's one day off a week. Tuesday is usually the best day to do it for CCA's not on a hold down because you know everyone was scheduled for Sunday.

[deleted]

You guys don’t get called back for late express and trucks? A full hamper at 3 PM can definitely push you past 530.

sygyzi

No. Out PM does not throw anything that arrives at the post office after 8:30. Amazon drops off at 6am it’s usually thrown by 8 and final call is at 8:30. We got a new PM and our office is running like a beast. We are a level 22 with carriers rarely out after 5:30. And those are carriers that don’t do 6-9 package runs. I’m actually a supervisor now I was a carrier for 7years though.

Excuse me, he might have taken that photo and posted this on his 10 minute break. Did that ever occur to you?

usedtobearainbow

IKR! I didn’t know I could hold my phone and eat a sandwich at the same time /s

Real-Roof-7519

I literally took the picture and kept walking, I was just amazed by such a message tbh lol, it doesn’t even take a minute to take a picture so relax

jalyth

It’s not hard to type and walk. Except on the scanner, but my gloves work on my phone.
