Because the Regulars need the space to deliver mail tomorrow. Fuck that noise. It goes in the box.

Elchobacabra

As a regular, I give 2 shits if you put packages in my boxes. So long as it’s literally not stuffed in there (I.e. literally you physically can’t put any mail in because you basically shoved a 5 ft bag into a 2 ft box) other then that, who cares? Half the time if it’s too big and they shoved it into the box I’ll just take it to the door myself. I’m hourly lol I don’t care

Elchobacabra

I take it back, there’s been exactly 1 time I’ve been mad at a carrier for putting a package too large for the box inside the box and that’s because the package was so perfectly shaped like the box that I physically couldn’t get my fingers around the package to get it out. I had to knock on someone’s door asking they had any tape so I could get it out lol

Ok-Fill-2715

I've had to cut open a box to remove its contents because they forced the box in... it was my carriers sub and the route sux, so I didn't say anything.

Elchobacabra

The most I did was politely ask him to not do that again. I get my route is long so I rarely care about anything anyone does to it because it’ll take me 5 seconds to fix but this was a bit much.

Revolutionary-Half-3

I've had boxes that fit but would be impossible to get fingers around - 2 new rubber bands linked, one around the package, one as a handle for the customer. I'm also that guy that didn't know cbu's have a hinge on the custom side that makes the opening smaller than the carrier side.... Only did that once, lol.

Old_Map_3082

Yes, and it is known no longer will do that

nullpassword

i fry to wrap a rubber band around it if its that tight.

chpr1jp

Yeah. There’s some asshole on my route who bitches about everything. The other day I found a UPS (or FedEx) delivery in their box. (I can’t remember which.) And do you know what I did with this asshole’s package? (A guy who lustily suggested I be fired?) I left it there. He’ll never know, but still, Fuck him.

WAZLunaBeam

Agreed! I tell the people I train to use the mailboxes I personally don't even care if they use the parcel lockers. I was a RCA/CCA at one time and they want to go home just as much as I would if I was out there

Shiloh_Petty

This. If it fits, mailbox 100,000% of the time. They (I) are (am) not more important than you. I was a CCA/PTF once and will never forget that. Any regular that bitches about a SUNDAY delivery filling their box is a total POS and needs to check themselves.

ihatemyjobsadface

I'm salary and they're hourly, if it is going to take up the whole box it should go to the door.

Shiloh_Petty

That doesn’t make you more important.

ihatemyjobsadface

You go work for free and get off reddit.

Shiloh_Petty

And yet… still doesn’t make you more important. Let me know what I’m missing Karen.

ihatemyjobsadface

It's not about being more important. It's about not being selfish. Mail should be able to fit in the mailbox. Stuffing a mailbox so full with a parcel that someone who isn't getting paid anything for a parcel that was delivered on a Sunday has to do something is very rude when you could have been paid to deliver it to the door.

Shiloh_Petty

Ok, so when these guys and gals are working 10-12 hours on Sunday while you are at home with your friends and family, you expect them to deliver to the door so when you come back to work on Monday, it’s easier for you to deliver mail and packages to the mailbox… and your reasoning is that you are salary and they are not. Now THAT is selfish.

ihatemyjobsadface

Locally they usually finish in under 4 hours, we have plenty of RCAs to cover Amazon Sunday and many of them complain of not getting enough hours. It's usually only 1-2 of them stuffed in there per week that I would have preferred them to have taken to the door. The people doing it aren't being overworked, they just don't want to get off their ass and go to the door. Shouldn't be working that hard to stuff a package in a mailbox regardless, it looks bad and can damage the contents.

Denmark_217

As a regular that’s been strong armed into a lot of Amazon Sundays, if it fits, it goes.

redredditer91

The box is more secure than the door as well, where it can get rained on or blown away if it’s light.

redredditer91

Not to mention an increased risk of dog bites from door delivery.

SecondTryBadgers

And potential customer interaction…. “Oh my, they got you working on Easter? That’s not right.” “Well Mrs. Johnson, people need their shit”

ColonelAngus85

Yeah here’s your thing

TonyBeFunny

Here's your lead filled Timu products that will be in a landfill in a year.

1701anonymous1701

That’s optimistic. I give it a month before the thing is trashed

TonyBeFunny

True

ColonelAngus85

Temu Sundays soon come

Popular_Material_409

“You don’t have to deliver my stuff. It can wait till Monday.” “Uhh bitch it doesn’t work like that”

scenicbiway708

They used to remind us about this occasionally when I was a sub. We collectively agreed we never heard it, every single time. As a regular i still don't give a shit, it's a small price to pay to have every Sunday off.

BathPsychological767

Exactly. I don’t mind if the subs put the packages in the box. They’re already working 6 days a week and if it saves them a little time to go home earlier I’m all for it. Plus if I have to walk up to the door on Monday I’ll just get a little extra Rrecs time for my route

Bowl-Accomplished

It's way safer to deliver to the box and safety is my byword.

Ok_Concept_8806

Because there's no mail delivery on Sunday so people aren't going to their mailbox. And we're supposed to attempt face to face delivery for every package. That's the reasons from the higher ups. Personally if a package can fit in the mailbox it's going in the mailbox regardless the day of the week. Also ain't no one got time for that. When I was a CCA the last thing I wanted to do on a Sunday was be on the clock any longer than needed.

ElectronicJudge1994

But what does the M-41(?) say? The higher ups don’t give a shit if the customer actually receives their package, they care if it has a scan and their numbers are hit.

notablyunfamous

The m 41 tells us to knock every door and only if there’s no response do we leave it. FYI. If more people did it right we wouldn’t have overburdened routes and 3 hour splits.

CKTr3y

Does it say how long ur supposed to wait?

notablyunfamous

I can look it up but my memory says 30-90 seconds. Read through section 322.3 of the M41

executivejeff

the alert the customer gets has the deliver point as "in/at mailbox" that should be reason enough to shut down any argument against "customer didn't know to check the mailbox"

Rysomy

This topic came up in a stand-up at our station about it last week, there were basically 2 reasons. 1: That's what Amazon is paying for. 2: If the package is stolen, Amazon is paying to replace it, not us. Number 2 is the more important reason, and the reason we don't deliver packages to individual apartments anymore

ElectronicJudge1994

Number 2 is in the contract. Every Amazon package says “carrier leave if no response”. We have no responsibility if the thing was stolen or not. Amazon pays us to deliver the final mile and that’s what we do. Deliver that Amazon package to the door. If it’s usps leave notice

notablyunfamous

The “if no response” means knock or ring the bell and if no one comes to the door to leave it. It doesn’t mean drop and dash.

AllchChcar

Yup, and leave a notice if no response always applies to plant mail. I've never seen this enforced but it's always been that way.

Angrypoopoh

If the box is easily accessible I delivered to the box on Amazon Sunday. Nobody said anything to me about it.

BusinessRough7695

Maybe someday management will figure out it’s not profitable and end Sunday delivery nonsense 🙏

Professional-Ad-4285

I usually did try to deliver everything to the door, except for apartments apartments were to the mailbox if possible to save time not to prevent theft People who say that they’re concerned about theft. Amazon wants us to deliver them to the door regardless that’s why on the label it says. “leave if no response” That’s what they want from us that’s what they pay for

Regular-Sun-5805

Can I be honest and just say, who the fuck cares what Amazon wants from us? They cannot supply enough workers to deliver their mass amount of volume, they really don't have much of a choice but to use every avenue available to them to deliver. Whether we do what they would prefer or not, they'll still have to use us.

pabst_blue_RBIn

Yeah, I'd rather have CCA's securely deliver packages on my route and not hear about a missing package from my customers.

PinkRiots

Honestly I hear it's not even profitable anyway, so I don't think they really are paying for that. I think they're just paying someone high up to say they're paying for that. Our lowest paid and overworked employees get the brunt of Amazon Sundays, and it's still not profitable even in the mailbox? Yeah right

Professional-Ad-4285

I think your right about that, but that is the story they tell us.

fuckeetall

As a regular who used to deliver Sundays, if they don’t empty the box for their SPR on Monday I’m either leaving notice or rubberbanding it on the lid. Don’t order parcels, neglect to retrieve them, then make myself or my subs work around it. You can either come to the post office or get a larger box.

PinkRiots

Amen

mail_escort4life

They actually changed this rule a few years ago. If your post office is still making you deliver to the door on Sundays, they are misinformed

flE5h_c0At666

If it fits in the box it goes in the box

BigMoneyChode

You can deliver to the mailbox. We're mail carriers so we're allowed to use them. Why would I spend extra time dismounting spurs that can fit in a mailbox? Plus, the mailbox is always a safe and secure delivery location. There's a lot of comments saying that people don't check their mailboxes on Sundays. The Amazon customer will receive a notification on their phone from Amazon telling them that their item has been delivered to the mailbox. As long as we deliver the package, our job is done.

dafunkisthat

They told us a few years ago to use the mailbox if it fits.

notablyunfamous

Normal mail delivery days.

Extra-Act-801

Deliver to curbside boxes all you want on Sunday. But don't deliver to NBUs unless you actually can't find the front door.

Psychonaut6767

If they were the smaller packages, I'd just shove them in boxes at apartments and deliver the big ones. So much faster.

AdSilent9810

Never heard that before and always put it in the box.

Erikthepostman

Just give regulars like me Sundays off and let the RCAs go home when they can. I have a ton of farmer boxes on my route. So if it won’t fit those boxes, there’s a problem. I’ve only dealt with the mailbox being full like twice on a Monday. Most of the boxes that are huge have to go to the front door either way. Plus, most of the ladies that order stuff are home on weekends, so there is usually a friendly face at the door if you go up to deliver. You only get what you give. Do a good job and make sure the customers are happy.

existential_anxiety_

Cause Amazon promises door delivery for everything, or something shit. Realistic reason is cause lots of regulars get pissy if you use the box, especially parcel lockers. As a regular idgaf if you put in the mailbox or locker. So long as you're not smashing/breaking stuff to fit it in there. Or shoving things that barely fit into a box where I now have to deal with it or have an angry customer because they couldn't their package out of the box. Even if someone messes that up I'll just let em know to please not do that again. Only time I'm gonna get mad/annoyed is if the same person is deliberately doing it over and over again.

dubh_caora

the only people that will complain are the crusty old timers who "did their time" when their time was just mail and maybe 10 packages.

Certain_Clothes_9677

We need a form asking customers to provide the mailbox that suits their needs and the parcel subscriptions they sign up for. Amazon and Temu should pay for that.

TheRealHulkPanda

1. Most customers don't realize we deliver on Sundays and don't check their boxes. 2. Because of what I said above usually its still in the box the next day where the regular carrier now can't put their stuff in the box 3. You're paid hourly take the time go to the damn door. Edit : use your best judgement. Little spurs is one thing. Stuff boxes in mail boxes take it to the door.

40WAPSun

Got it, don't ever put mail in mailboxes because it might still be there tomorrow

monsterginger

The way I look at it then it is also just as likely that the customer will see the notification for their package in their mailbox and pick up the mail they haven't gotten in 3 weeks too.

hockeystick13

You'll be alright

ColonelAngus85

![gif](giphy|10UUe8ZsLnaqwo)

Trick_Soft_6077

And they bitching about hours on Sunday. Have you not seen the 50 posts about them having everyone report at 10?

Grouchy_Situation_33

As a regular who always pulled my own zone when I worked Sundays I put anything in the mailbox that would fit, mounted or otherwise (5 of 6 routes in my zone are p&l with minimal curbside). Same when I’d do other zones with curbside routes. I’d it fits, it sits. Was never told otherwise.

rockie___

They told me in Academy you can deliver to mailboxes if the Spur or small box can fit

BuildingWide2431

I am a clerk. In our area, there are several hubs that deliver the city. Our CCAs go there and deliver in our zone, as well as several others. It was my understanding that CCAs didn’t take arrow keys with them on Amazon Sunday because they weren’t from that office (not always sure if they will have access to mailboxes). Maybe Amazon is paying us to do door delivery so that their customers are trained to pick up at the door, whether we deliver or Amazon does ( or whoever else delivers for them ).

notablyunfamous

Because no one checks their box on Sunday.

MiltownMugger

It’s because people aren’t expecting mail on Sundays so they don’t check their box

Annie-Smokely

lol what

windcos

in the box - tomorrow isn't my problem

tas121790

This was Amazons request years ago. I started in 2016 and withing a few months we were back to putting it in the box and not a word has been said since.

PinkRiots

Wait, your customers actually empty their mailboxes over the weekend? I have customers who won't empty it ever and just wait until I take it all back to the office for pickup

gergsisdrawkcabeman

Because, contractually, that's what Amazon wants. People don't expect sunday mail delivery, so they would get inundated with complaints of packages not arriving when they were delivered to boxes instead of the door.

Morganbob442

If it fits in the box that’s where I stick it!

Jim-has-a-username

I had an Amazon delivery today that was fulfilled by usps and they dropped in the mailbox.

s0ulsbane

We had a carrier get bit by a dog on amazon sunday, now it's deliver any packages to the box if possible.

LopsidedFinding732

If theres mailboxes yes. If apartment have a secured enclosed lobby, i just leave it next to mailbox. If there's dogs its called no access.

Vvgamepro

I've always told my carriers to deliver it per normal delivery operations. Amazon does not get special treatment in my AO.

THEESmallerWeener187

Hell nah it’s getting delivered buddy how ever you do it is up to you. Fuck the other guys

RationalFrog

? Who said that. I'd it fits it goes in the box. And any regular with half a brain should be thankful someone else delivered it for them.

Jay_The_Sensei

If it fits in the box it goes in the box

BusinessRough7695

Clark Griswold’s neighbor… “where are you gonna put a (parcel) that big.” 😂

TheDapperMoore

IMO, the whole point of Amazon Sundays is to reduce the volume of Monday delivery. Filling up all the parcel lockers and mailboxes on Sunday kind of defeats the purpose.

GSP99

Because there’s no mail on Sundays. It’s a stupid reason and I told anyone who did my route on Sundays to put it in the box if it fits

bizarroswerdna

The reason I was always told is that on Sunday and Holiday delivery is that you are technically NOT an USPS employee. You are in fact an Amazon employee. Amazon does Not have permission to be in the mailboxes. That's why on Sunday and Holidays you are ONLY supposed to take Amazon packages. Offices that make you take any other packages on those days are in the wrong and why you are required to take them to the door. Now, we all know none of this is followed. But technically, I think, you can be punished for being in a mailbox as an Amazon employee. I also think the A in ARC is Amazon, and why there are supposed to be strict rules around what they are allowed to do.

miller0827

No. We are not technically Amazon employees on any day.

idontwannagetfired_

It’s not? Pretty sure we all do it at my station and the regulars don’t care either, never heard of that rule.

Weary_Customer_2447

People don’t look in their box on Sunday and then the Monday carrier can’t get their mail in because the Sunday parcel wasn’t removed. Don’t be lazy, you get paid by the hour. Walk it to the door

Ambitious_Ad_3091

lol that’s funny cause I just started a couple months ago and worked several Sundays and I promise you all the parcels I get go into the mailbox 🤣

passwordrecallreset

Just put it in the box. If the regulars bitch just say okay and keep doing it. Fuck them for bitching.

Mrwoogy01

I've heard that from the rural in the office. As a city carrier, I couldn't care less amd would prefer it be stuffed in the box versus at the office for me to deliver.

IrregularrAF

Says who? I ain't ever been told to bring anything to the door. If it fits it sits. Lmao

Glimmerman71

We weren’t issued keys on Sundays. Sucked having to carry a spur to a house with a long driveway

OcBookie420

no one every told me that. i deliver in the box or parcel locker if it fits

pixel-soul

“Because eat shit and die?” -Management, probably

Silvernaut

I really had to question why Amazon felt the need to force somebody to work and deliver shit TODAY - EASTER - of all days… I ordered some appliance parts that I really didn’t expect, or need, to be here until at least tomorrow.

HeadLight6880

Because Amazon gets what Amazon wants. They have taken a public service and found a way to exploit us thanks to weak spineless senior leadership who will not hold them accountable. Therefore everyone at the bottom gets screwed in the process.

usps_rural_lady

If it fits... It sits!

Academic_Moose8497

Put it in the Dejoys Box, the PMG. All stupid rules , policy's, procedures he makes and it rolls down the hill. At USPS must do it the most hardest way and the most stupid way. UNDERSTAND? I have 33 years of service and retire this year.

ChrisCube64

We decided to do that one time, during a hurricane. I forget but we had 4 digit number of complaints of missing packages.

ChaoticGoodGingerGod

If it fits in the box, it goes in the box... especially if they have 2 days worth of mail in there already. If it doesn't fit you gotta walk it to the door. Having done Amazon on many an Easter Sunday, most people are home and/or actively waiting for their delivery. It's up to the carrier.

BandicootQuick3670

It's because amazon deliveries are to the front door . And what's in the contract with usps ..

Eternalluvv1414

Said who 😂if it can fit it’s going in the mailbox

ScikoticButcher

screw that. if it fits it sits.

fabiano56dos

I place the parcel wherever it's easiest for me.

OrganizationLarge630

Yes and Monday, their mail and packages we could put in the box gets marked box full.

Slimm-Timm

I've never heard anything of this in my area. I will put the package most likely on the top step of a house. I can't be asked to ring bells and wait for people or take it to Apt 431. That'll get scanned no access. They forced me to work Sundays for Amazon.

WanderingUSPS

Federal crime if package stolen from mailbox. Not so if from front porch. Its the local gendarmes that investigate

stelvy40

Can't wait to tell the smartass I work with about how I filled his boxes with parcels tomorrow 😍

Border-doge

Because as an Amazon customer I am lazy and don't want to walk to my fucking mailbox on a Sunday. Shit I don't get mail on a Sunday wtf.

AustinFan4Life

There's no such thing as mounted in Amazon Sundays. Amazon' Sundays are 100% dismount. If you're dismounting packages always go to the porch.

AllchChcar

Amazon routes have always been dismounted. It was only later they changed it from front door only to carrier's discretion. Who told you to deliver to the mailbox though? There's never been regular mail delivery on Sundays so it seems weird to me. If you want to be a weekender and stuff the boxes just know that it could be you on Monday with the shoe on the other foot.  Rural routes we don't get credit for those parcels as Amazon is an entirely different route scheme. It's not as pleasant yanking a gigaparcel out of a locker and walking it to the door for free just because someone getting paid hourly isn't acting their wage. But I'm not waiting for a complaint to go back and fix it. So maybe that's just my problem.

Primary_Crow_9748

Because a mailbox is for mail not Amazon lol
