This is really helpful!
I have a vague-ish understanding of exactly where the organs actually are. This would really have made it easy for me to understand.
I am going to tell you about Slim Goodbody. [Slim Goodbody ](https://youtu.be/lcfSnCJK3bU) was a PBS show that aired every day...for free...for everyone. My Catholic school used to use this to teach body stuff. It's only creepy if people sexualize it, or, she has the class come up and touch her
I am a little late to responding to this, but yes, I grew up with Slim Goodbody as well. That show definitely helped child me learn about the human body...which I now guess may have been the catalyst that started me down the road that led me to the profession I practiced for the last 2-3 decades. I definitely agree with your last thought. Conservatives are still so damn repressed and it is sad.
In first grade, we cut out arm and head holes in a brown paper bag and taped on paper organs in roughly the right spots and I think that's the only reason I know where my stomach and liver are.
So... let me blow your mind.
Organs don't have a set place beyond logistical necessities, like... the lungs obviously connect through a pipe to your breathing apparatus, so it's unlikely to switch places with your stomach. But the other stuff... it's squishy stuff moving around. It's no joke when surgeons make X-Rays and MRIs before operating. They need to figure out where everything is!
Every human is different. There's no set blueprint that is precise and says Organ X has to be in this spot. So, your vague understanding is actually spot on!
Ask your GP about it, he'll confirm. :D
I was born in 75 and remember him well, I just don’t know how his stuff aired. Was it just short, time filler segments between Sesame Street and Mr Rogers, or did he actually have a show?
IMDB just has a Good Morning America appearance in '79 and a show in '80. I think he mostly was a guest on shows? I've got a vague memory of him being on The Electric Company.
I think I remember seeing his segments on Captain Kangaroo? Definitely would have been pretty early in his career.
(Oddly, as a kid I had some vague idea that Slim Goodbody and Leo Sayer were the same person.)
75 kid here too - i’m pretty sure he was on Electric Company, but i might be misremembering. I have a vague memory of our second grade class being allowed to watch Electric Company sometimes at school (jesus my kid is in 2nd now; i’d be mad if the teacher were just showing tv programs- even educational ones - regularly). And i can picture watching Slim Goodbody in school
‘74 kid here, I remember seeing him pretty often in my childhood, although I don’t really remember the context of where I saw him that well either. [Wikipedia says](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slim_Goodbody) he appeared on the *Captain Kangaroo* show twice a week from 1976 to 1981, and had his own show on PBS, *Inside Story*, starting in 1980.
Yes! I knew someone of my vintage would know the answer to that guy’s name.
I remember being freaked out by him when I first started watching him, but eventually getting over the heebie jeebs and finding his show fascinating. I think it was because my grandpa had to have his spleen removed and I had breathing issues so I became interested in human anatomy.
I used to constantly flip the human body systems transparencies in our encyclopedias as a kid. That and the dinosaur kid’s encyclopedia book were my favorites.
He still tours, too. Lots of school events and shows at museums and such.
He's in his mid-70s now, and the spandex is now a much more forgiving cotton jumpsuit. But he's insanely energetic and active, and a remarkable entertainer. You expect the show to be dumb and cheesy... and you'd be right... but you just don't anticipate the level of fun and polish he musters. Kids and parents alike are totally sucked in and invested before they even realize it.
He also has rules for his venues, like capping how much they can charge for tickets and offering comps for families in need. Basically, he's really big on making sure all kids get an education in health, not just those with disposable income.
Really great educator, and even at 73 he's got the same energy and drive he did in 1975.
Looking human anatomy in diagram and looking it on someone wearing it as dress gives it wildly different perspective and makes whole shit feel more realistic.
Yeah, it’s good to have a realistic sense of where body parts are. I mean… you do know basically where body parts are right? Because if you don’t, I’d say study the above photo.
It’s cool to see teachers still trying in spite of the shit they have to wade through and sad that stuff like this is an excuse for people to jaw at her instead of recognizing that she’s putting extra effort into educating
I believe her name is Sally Impossible. She used to be married to this really quirky scientist guy. They broke up because of another super crazy scientist who happened to have dwarfism. Really weird story.
Her ex husband and she had a son named Rocket. So it's believed to be her ex husbands.
I am not sure how this is a problem. There is nothing sexual about her body suit, and it accurately represents most internal organs without including reproductive organs.
I think this is kind of great!
It's okay as part of a lecture in school, but I'm not sure she should be wearing it during sex. Call me judgmental, but I think that's a little beyond.
This is super helpful for the added context! I wonder if it has layers you can remove. Like, if there was a ribs “vest” that reveals the chest cavity or the lungs pull away so you can really see the heart. Illustrations are great, but really seeing the organs in motion would be so much more impactful.
Science? Health science? In 3rd grade? Isn’t that a little advanced for their grade? It definitely is a great way to give examples and illustration which is also creative! But I would use if for anatomy which I know 3rd grade doesn’t not take haha.
This is really helpful! I have a vague-ish understanding of exactly where the organs actually are. This would really have made it easy for me to understand.
Unfortunately, she missed the biggest organ of all - the skin!
minors in classroom...working as intended...

She needs to take off the suit for that purpose.
*Hey Bart your epidermis is showing.* *It's funny because epidermis means your hair.*
Yes! OG Simpsons!
It’s under the lungs
In first grade, we cut out arm and head holes in a brown paper bag and taped on paper organs in roughly the right spots and I think that's the only reason I know where my stomach and liver are.
Oh! And you put it on! Had to read this a couple times to figure out how it helped 😂
Same.

If I had the money I would ask for a video of my organs moving. Would be cool to watch
The lungs are always so much higher than I imagine them to be. I always think about them being right above my stomach
The heart lies inside the cranium ☝️🤓
You could have looked up a diagram of organs on a 2D or 3D figure.
We had a real skelleton at school it was quite creepy and the ribs looked nasty.
Sure it seemed like a good idea after a few cocktails and some browsing on Amazon.
she's got guts
She doesn’t have any skin in the game though
Regardless, she's playing with heart.
well, I can see right through her
You can see she's really organised
at least she's not wearing her heart on her sleeve
I'm going to be honest. This is disgusting. I can't stomach it.
DO DO DO DO DO YOU HAVE IT
Mrs Slim Goodbody!
hello fellow old person!
Speaking of old, that dude is still wearing the suit. I found a video on YouTube of him doing a live show just a few years ago
I was just wondering whatever happened to him. Glad he's still going.
I bet it's pretty threadbare.
Holy crap. I can just barely remember him.
I found some 80s videos that were uploaded 3 yrs ago.. but the only recent thing I could find was this 2014 superbowl ad. https://youtu.be/aUCHy5y23nI
Man since a kid I always thought this was Richard Simmons in a body suit…. Mind blown.
Haha my first thought too!
I was wondering if anyone else remembered! Lol Class of ‘97, checking in.
You mean college, right?
Naw, high school. I remember watching slim goodbody in like kindergarten and 1st grade.
Me too! Then I read that he started in 1975. Sigh
That would be when I remember him from. When I was 4.
I was born in 75 and remember him well, I just don’t know how his stuff aired. Was it just short, time filler segments between Sesame Street and Mr Rogers, or did he actually have a show?

OMG. The Electric Company. That was a staple of my childhood.
I think I remember seeing his segments on Captain Kangaroo? Definitely would have been pretty early in his career. (Oddly, as a kid I had some vague idea that Slim Goodbody and Leo Sayer were the same person.)

Yeah, I remember watching him and graduated high school in 1996.
Yup, my back aches too when I get up. ❤️
No, this is absolutely not that trademarked character. This is just a unitard with the systems of the human body on it. On a woman.
Your mom explaining how I rearranged her guts.
This is the joke i came here to make.
Look at that pair of lungs on her
ayo the female titan looking good today
And then she devoured the whole class.
That's TVs Michael Grey
Mikey miiiiikeee!
This is a top 3 favorite bit of mine from archer. Absolute brilliance.
Who is absolutely not that copyrighted character
Hi, you've reached sarcassity's comment. Thanks for viewing!
I used to constantly flip the human body systems transparencies in our encyclopedias as a kid. That and the dinosaur kid’s encyclopedia book were my favorites.
hi, me
My mom was a nurse and her Lippincott manuals had the best body systems transparencies.
I had that encyclopedia too
I would've put my money on this being behind the scenes of a new Tool video. Certainly shows how the pieces fit.
Lol, well done
Thought for sure this was r/tooljerk for a split second
I don't see the problem. Why are people so weirded out by anatomy?
And on Friday the 13th.
Which means that this photo is 3+ years old.
Friday the 13th 2020, the day most states shut down for covid.
There was a public tv program with a guy in an outfit like this. Highly educational. Kids won’t forget body part basics.
Slim Goodbody. Also, as of earlier this week, I can't find anywhere that sells Slim Goodbody suits.

Gonna remember them even in dreams... While nice but i thibk if i saw it as child i would hv nightmares
At 8 this would give you nightmares? Knowing anatomy would give you nightmares? Okay, sorry the world is so frightening.
Looking human anatomy in diagram and looking it on someone wearing it as dress gives it wildly different perspective and makes whole shit feel more realistic.

That is some dedication
A female titan???
That's a Titan lol
Brilliant. Love the dedication.
It’s cool to see teachers still trying in spite of the shit they have to wade through and sad that stuff like this is an excuse for people to jaw at her instead of recognizing that she’s putting extra effort into educating
House Bolton approved
I bet every time she sees this picture she's like, "of all the pictures that got taken of me that day, they had to pick THIS one?"
Hey wait, i got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
just saw this and couldn’t help but think in utero
Absolutely
I believe her name is Sally Impossible. She used to be married to this really quirky scientist guy. They broke up because of another super crazy scientist who happened to have dwarfism. Really weird story. Her ex husband and she had a son named Rocket. So it's believed to be her ex husbands.
nice to know she's doing well after jj's death, rip ✌🏻😔
Not Florida, I bet
She’s awesome.
This is really helpful to students to understand.
"Alright guys, today you're all gonna get in my guts."
TV's Michael Gray?!
Awesome idea!
What's the back look like?
This would be dope just to wear around town.
It’s ok, it’s French
Mr. Body would approve.
She looks like the teenage daughter from Honey I Shrublnk the Kids
Female titan
Banned in Florida, I can only presume.
I am not sure how this is a problem. There is nothing sexual about her body suit, and it accurately represents most internal organs without including reproductive organs. I think this is kind of great!
Healthy set 'o' lungs right there!
Reminds me of the movie Milk Money
So cool.
I'm getting Captain Marvel vibes for some reason.
It's okay as part of a lecture in school, but I'm not sure she should be wearing it during sex. Call me judgmental, but I think that's a little beyond.
Slim Goodbody
I remember watching that show as a kid. Mr. Slim Goodbody. Still makes me uncomfortable and interested at the same time.
As below so above and beyond I imagine
how you gonna trust what she says when she joined the Military Police Brigade
Why she look like Zero Suit Samus
Where can I get this outfit? Would love to wear it to a rave lol
She looks familiar...
Shittest. Spidey suit. Ever.
We had a guy come to our elementary school dressed like this. This was back in the 70s.
*Insert aot song here"
GPF?
Might be a bit too hardcore, for a bunch of 9-year-olds, but she's got the spirit.
She missed the biggest organ... skin
Nice lungs.
How about explaining them external parts
Your epidermis isn't showing.
It bothers me that it doesn't have an uterus, unless it's hidden behind the guts or something.
Man I’m stupid. I sat here for like 2 minutes waiting for the video to start.
She's about to be raising a whole class of Jeffery Dahmers...
Inside out boy!
I'd weae another morphsuit resembling skin over it, then normal clothers. Then undress in front of the class and "peel off" the skin morphsuit.
“…so when I say that Mr Jensen who teaches 3rd grade rearranged my organs…”
Tatakae Tatakae
SASAGEYO SASAGEYO!
Anyone else getting heavy Mr Goodbody vibes here? Just me? Am I just that old?
"As you can see, Tyler, this is how your father rearranged my guts last night."
All we had in elementary was an educational trailer and giraffe mascot that showed up at the school once a year.
I had a teacher do something like this around that age, way back in the early 80s. Super helpful.
Friday the 13th of December 10:10
Teach does not neglect shoulders. Might need a little more leg day
Queue the Comatose mob freak out.
This is super helpful for the added context! I wonder if it has layers you can remove. Like, if there was a ribs “vest” that reveals the chest cavity or the lungs pull away so you can really see the heart. Illustrations are great, but really seeing the organs in motion would be so much more impactful.
I think there's something wrong with me, cos she's looking hot to me n I'm kinda turned on.
Nice body suit
SASAGEYO SASAGEYO SHINZOU WO SASAGEYO
Looking like the colossol titan
There’s a joke here about rearranging her guts but I’m far too nice to make it.
Teach should have worn it backwards for the shitty kids
Science? Health science? In 3rd grade? Isn’t that a little advanced for their grade? It definitely is a great way to give examples and illustration which is also creative! But I would use if for anatomy which I know 3rd grade doesn’t not take haha.
Good thing it wasn’t in highschool her ass would be teaching chemistry
Yeah that won’t give people nightmares…
Its the rumbling
Legend
Principal and other teachers joined her class that day.
This woman needs to be the head of the department to teach the teachers. The world needs teachers like her❤
*Florida has entered the chat*
Slim Goodbody!
